Expand Your Horizons...

Happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a wonderful's almost Friday :) I have a mixed media canvas to share with you today. I wanted to create the look of a magical, mysterious forest.

Because my time is limited in my craft room, it literally takes me a month to complete a canvas. I do a little bit, set it aside to dry and then add more the next time I'm in there. So I'll try to remember all the steps I took to create this. I started out with crumpled tissue paper and adhered it to the canvas with Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium. Once it was dry I used a The Crafter's Workshop Brick stencil and applied Wendy Vecchi Crackle medium.

I then cut a few Memory Box Yorkshire Tree dies in foam and adhered them to the canvas, wrapping them around the sides and top as well.

Next, I adhered a Poppystamps Weeping Willow Branches die to the top, and Poppystams Grassland Border to the bottom of the canvas. Once all of the dies were in place, I covered the entire canvas in black gesso (which made it hard to see the cracks in the bricks). I then used Twinkling H2O's in Pearl Green and a touch of Mustard Green to cover the canvas. Once that dried, I brushed on Perfect Pearls in Spring Green and Duo Green Yellow. Finally, I spritzed the canvas with Perfect Pearl Perfect Pearls Mist and then Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold. The magical little bubbles are Skittles from Doubleclick AKA A Busy Bee in Meadow.

The fairy is a Spellbinders Ariana die. She was covered with Sparkle N Sprinkle Moonrise Glitter. Viva Inka Gold Metallic Rub was then rubbed over her and finally, she was covered in Glossy Accents. Her wand was embossed with Sparkle N Sprinkle Frosted Juniper. You can see a bit of the crackle in the bricks, but not like before I added the black gesso.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

2) DL.ART - August Linky
3) Little Scrap Pieces - Show it Off Saturday

Wicked Witches

Happy Tuesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful last week of August!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions Blog and I have a project to share with you using one of the new dies from the August 2015 Release.

It's almost September, which means October isn't too far off. Halloween will be here before we know it!! For this card, I used the new Whispers Brewing Friends die. Aren't they fun??!! I started out cutting the die in purple foam, and then cut it in several other colors to add color and dimension to the wicked witches (I chose to think of them as good witches, brewing up a happy potion, so they are wicked in the awesome sense ;) The background paper is from My Mind's Eye (I think?? Or maybe Recollections...if anyone knows, please let me know :)

The spider in the web is a Tim Holtz Remanent Rub-on. The crinkle ribbon is from the Newspaper Bundle from DL.ART The button on the ribbon is a Wee Petites Button die. Wicked is from Craftin' Desert Diva's Witch Crossing stamp set...I masked off the "A Little Bit" part to just leave wicked.

You can see all of the fun dies from the August release HERE. And we'd love to see your projects using Die-Versions dies on our Facebook page HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great day :)

Tim's 12 Tags of 2015 - August

Happy Saturday!! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!! Just a quick post this evening to share my take on Tim's 12 Tags of 2015 - August.

You can see Tim's tag HERE. I followed his instructions, using products I had on hand. Tim used Adventure Words/Blocks, which I don't have, so I used his Handwritten Love Thinlets instead. And I didn't have metallic gold paint, so I used metallic copper.

I am entering this in Tim's 12 Tags of 2015 - August.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful weekend :)

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #24 - Pockets/Tags

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! It's time for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land. The theme this week is Pocket/Tags PLUS a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries (there are over 40 to choose from). Also, Scrapy Land has created a new Scrapy Land Pinterest account and has lots of boards for inspiration and pinning of your favorites.

There will be a very generous prize given once we reach 100 followers, 200 followers, etc. To make it more fair, the winner will be chosen randomly from all the followers. So be sure to follow Scrapy Land on Pinterest too!

For my projects today, I created two cards to share with you. The bases of the cards are Spellbinders Reflective Moments dies.

I wrapped the back layer with tulle and the next layer is a Spellbinders Radiant Rectangle die. I cut it twice and then cut one in half to create the pocket. A Die-Versions Whispers Lacey Dots border was attached to the pocket. The button on the ribbon is a Poppystamps Stitched Button die.

The tag is a Sizzix Tiny Tabs & Tags die. Memory Box Chloe Stems were added to the tag, and tucked among the flowers. Memory Box Botanical Stems were also added with the flowers.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Scrapy Land to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Pocket/Tag project using a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries!! I can't wait to see what you create :)
