Hoot Hoot Whoo-Ray!

Gahh...I haven't posted in so long!! Almost a week! I don't think I've gone that long since I started my blog in March. I am really trying to get to my craft room and not having much luck. And I am soo sorry I haven't been around to comment...my real job is keeping me super-busy and then the holidays and family. I apologize and I am going to get caught up with everyone this week, I promise!
I had to make time to visit my craft room so I could use my new Twinkle Toes cartridge that I won from my dear friend Melanie of In Love With A Bug!! Thanks again, Melanie!! I LOVE it!! I used the adorable owl cut. I embossed her with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder and Spellbinders Flowers plate. I attached each layer with foam tape for dimension and I attached her with a wobble so she really dances! For the background, I used a Spellbinders Nestabilities lacy squared die and embossed it with the Flowers plate. The background paper is from My Mind's Eye.
And I used the K Andrew Designs Owly Hoo stamp set. Aren't these awesome??!!

I am entering this card in Pat of Pat Scraps blogaversary giveaway! Happy one year blogaversary, Pat!!

Here is a view from my deck today. Yep, snow. Big, fat white flakes. It's too early for snow :(

To Everything There is a Season and WINNER!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you are having a great day! I just have not been able to find time to enter challenges lately, or to visit everyone and see what amazing projects you have made. So today, I spent a little time in my craft room so I could enter two of my favorites, and I hope to visit your blogs tonight before the family arrives for Thanksgiving!
For this card, I used paper from My Mind's Eye. The bird in the tree was cut at 5 1/2" from Winter Frolic and I attached all the layers with foam tape to give some dimension. Isn't this image awesome? I just love it! I used a Fiskars punch for the leaf border. The label is a Spellbinders tag punch. I inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Fired Brick Distress Ink. I added some crystals to the top right corner with my iRock and a black gem for the bird's eye.
I absolutely love this bible quote. The stamp is from K Andrew Design's Scripture Sayings set. Look at all the beautiful and moving quotes on this set:

Aren't they just incredible??!! To order your own set or to see the entire line of K Andrew Designs stamps, click HERE.

Winter Wishes

K Andrew Designs

For my project I made a snowman and snowwoman winter wonderland shaker box that doubles as a gift holder!
The paper is from My Mind's Eye. The box was cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and I used my Gypsy to fit it to the mat. I also removed the square window and replaced it with a circle from George and Basic Shapes. I used the same circle, copied it and made the second a little bigger to make the frame around the window. I curved "Winter" and "wonderland" from Winter Wishes to fit around the frame, and then I attached the frame with foam tape. The "snow" on the inside is MS carrara marble glitter. The snowflakes are a MS punch and I added the pearls.
Once you remove the ribbon, the box opens to reveal two snowpeople ornaments resting on a bed of white felt!
I cut the snowpeople at 5" for the ornaments. I cut one shadow in cardboard, then attached another shadow with foam tape to give them some strength. I attached fishing line between the shadows to hang the ornaments. Frosty Kisses from the Winter Wishes stamp set finished them off. This was a fun project and I will definitely be making more to give as gifts :)

I have BLOG CANDY!! I am giving away a K Andrew Designs Winged Things stamp set!

All you have to do to be entered in the drawing is:
  1. Be a follower of my blog

Happy Tuesday, bloggers! It's time again for another super-fun Link Up the Love Party with K Andrew! The Link Up the Love Party is a great way to meet new bloggers and find inspiration from some truly amazing projects!
Link Up Love Party: How it Works
  • Link Up Party runs from Tuesday 11/15 to Tuesday 11/22. Winners will be announced at the next link up party, 12/20.
  • Grab the Getting Cricky blinky and post on your blog's sidebar
  • Be a follower of Getting Cricky
  • Create a new blog post that is titled Link Up Love Party with K Andrew. In your post, you must mention that the link up love party is a way to get to know each other and find new blog inspiration, mention my blog, with a link back to Getting Cricky
  • Post your favorite project that you've done in your blog that has to do with THANKS/BLESSINGS.
  • Copy and paste the link up code into your blog post so the Inlinkz will show up on your blog
  • Spread the word so everyone can join in!
  • You must visit, follow, and comment on the 5 people before you AND the 5 people after you in the Inlinkz. It would be fantastic if you would visit as many as you can--maybe everyone? If you are one of the first 5 then you will need to blog the ones before you and a few more after--as long as it's a minimum of 10 near you in the link up
  • If you do not do the above your link will be deleted, because it's just not fair to those who work so hard linking up and showing love to the ones on the list. I have two moderators who will be checking this out to keep it awesome and fun!
For this card, I used the cornucopia from Paper Doll Dress Up and Kristal's Fall-O-Ween stamp set. I am also entering the card in the Cooking With Cricut Challenge #59 - Fruits, Cornucopia, Harvest Time.

Fantabulous Cricut Harvest Blessings Crawl

Hello everyone and happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! Welcome to A Mermaid's Crafts and the Fantabulous Cricut Harvest Blessings Crawl...Fantabulous Cricut's version of a blog hop!

It's Fall and everyone at Fantabulous Cricut has decided to create projects to give thanks for our Harvest Blessings! Each Design Team member will be featuring an original Fall project that includes Brown, Orange and Red – along with at least one Cricut cut.

If you've come from visiting Larelyn at Handmade From My Heart, you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, start HERE .

Make sure to check out each DT member's blog for some awesome inspiration! There will be PRIZES along the way at some of our DT members' blogs, AND there will be a Grand Prize up for grabs at FCCB for one participant that submits a "Harvest Blessings" project at FCCB!

For my project today, I decided to make Fall/Thanksgiving decorations!
I cut wood blocks in different sizes for my project. I thought about painting the wood, but I liked the natural look of the blocks, so I kept it. I adhered paper to the front with Mod Podge and then attached rosettes in the same color. "FALL" was cut from Base Camp in DCWV Fall Stack paper. I adhered the letters to the rosettes with foam tape. The two smaller smiley face leaves are from Create A Critter. These blocks are now sitting on my fireplace mantle :)
The turkey was meant to be a table decoration, but my Mom stole him to take to her office :) I cut him from Create A Critter at fit to page, which ended up being 8". I embossed all the different layers and inked them with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in walnut. Most of the layers were adhered with foam tape to give dimension. I added googly eyes and cardboard to the back so he can stand. The tag on his hat is a Spellbinders Nestabilities die and the sentiment, "Happy Fall Ya'll" is from K Andrews Design's Fall-O-Ween stamp set! Click HERE to purchase your own set of these awesome stamps!!
I  have blog candy!! All you have to do to be entered to win this awesome 6x6 Madison Avenue paper stack from My Mind's Eye is:
  1. Be a follower of my blog
  2. Leave a comment on this post
That's it!! I will choose a winner on Sunday, November 20.

Now it's your turn! Let's see your Harvest Blessings projects!  Make sure to include a Cricut cut somewhere on your project and be sure to use the colors Brown, Orange and Red as well!

Next stop… Marlene's blog, at Scrappin Cookie. Go and see what she has in store for you today. And when you're done, make sure to link up your project to FCCB's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post to be entered into the contest!

Guest Designer for Cutting Up With Class!

Happy Thursday, everyone! I'm so excited to be a guest designer today for my friend Jani of Paper Compulsions for her challenge blog, Cutting Up With Class! CUWC is a new challenge blog that uses SVGs for the weekly challenges every Tuesday. If you haven't already, please stop by and check out her awesome blog!
For my project today, I wanted to make something for my Mom and Dad's upcoming anniversary on the 14th. So, in their honor, I made this Love wall hanging.
I first cut the base in cardboard from Elegant Edges. I manipulated the frame with my Gypsy to stretch it out and thin the height so it was the right size for the letters. I cut the letters out at 3" from Base Camp using My Mind's Eye Paper. The white sparkly background paper is from Fancy Pants and the outer frame is from DCWV The Immortal Stack. I cut the frame twice and pieced the frame together.
I wanted to give the letters some depth, so I printed out several copies of the letter shadows and attached foam tape between each layer. I also varied the dimension using different amounts of tape on each letter. I attached the outer frame with foam as well.
I stamped "wind beneath my wings" from K Andrew Designs Winged Things stamp set on the L. Click HERE to purchase your own set of these awesome stamps! I topped it off with some Hobby Lobby ribbon and some gems and added a hanger to the back.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you will visit Jani of Paper Compulsions for her challenge blog,  Cutting Up With Class! Thanks again Jani for having me!!

All you need is love...and the WINNER of a K Andrew Designs Stamp Set

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you are having a great week so far! I am so excited about the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog challenge this week: All About Books! Even though it's not my week to post (my first DT post will be next Monday) I had to join in on this one! As a writer who loves to read as much as craft, this challenge was perfect for me!
One of the reasons I wanted Kate's ABC's was specifically for this adorable girl reading a book! I cut the sweet girl at 2 1/2" and the bookshelf with Read at 2". I used a mixture of papers: K&Company for the background, Fancy Pants for the flowered paper; and My Mind's eye for the rest. I cut "Read" out in three different colors for some dimension, and I attached it with foam tape. I attached the girl with foam tape as well. The green ribbon is from my friend Jessie of Sugarlips Sassy Surprises!  The stamp is from K Andrew Designs Crafty Friends. I just love this sentiment and thought it was perfect for a card about reading since books are made from lots of paper (I am not a Kindle fan...I'm an old fashioned book lover!)
Look at all the awesome sayings on this stamp set!! Aren't they fun??!! Click HERE to purchase this set or to see all of K Andrew Designs stamp sets!
And now to the winner of the K Andrew Designs Coffee & Tea for You & Me stamp set from the Getting Cricky Blog Hop! I offered an extra chance in the drawing if you RSVP'd to my post about the Ustream/Blog Hop and I counted those entries first and then the comments on the hop. So random.org picked as the winner.............................................................................................................
 And number 10 is.............................................................................................
Congratulations Deb!! I'll send you an email or you can email your address to me at indymermaid(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll get your stamps to you!!

Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge - Tea Time!

Hi everyone and welcome to another fun Simply Sunday Challenge! The weather is getting cooler outside, so we're warming up with something hot! The theme this week is to create a project using a hot beverage...coffee, tea, hot chocolate..
For my project, I used stamps from the Coffee & Tea for You & Me stamp set. Click HERE to purchase you own set and to see all of K Andrew Designs fabulous stamps!
The background paper is from K&Company, and I used a Tim Holtz clock mask and some walnut distress ink to add the clock to background. I cut the tea kettle, cup, plate and cookies from From My Kitchen and attached them with foam tape. The background rectangles are Spellbinders Nestabilities dies. The crinkle ribbon is from my friend Karen of Little Scrap Pieces. I cut a clock from Tim Holtz paper and attached one of his clear tags to it with Mod Podge for the charm.

I am also entering this into the Cooking With Cricut Challenge #58 - Cookies, Clocks and/or Cookie Monster.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Please visit Getting Cricky to see all the awesome projects the Design Team has made and don't forget to link up your Tea Time project as well! I can't wait to see what you create :)
