Wow - I can't believe it has only been a month since I joined this wonderful world of blogging. Gosh, what did I do before I discovered blogging?! In that short period of time, I have become so completely addicted! I love meeting new people and visiting other blogs for inspiration and ideas. And I am so very thankful for all of my followers. If you haven't entered my giveaway for the new Luau cart, there is still time. Click here to enter before midnight ET on Saturday, April 16th.
I have a card to enter into a couple of challenges today. I used one of my favorite stamps from Sideshow Stamps. A few years ago I went looking for a good mermaid stamp and I fell in love with this one. I brushed the background with distress ink in weathered wood, tea dye and walnut stain. I embossed her with holographic embossing powder (you can see the sparkle in the smaller pic) and used watercolor pencils to color her in. The quote by William Shakespeare reads: "Once I sat upon a promontory and heard a mermaid on a dolphin's back uttering such dulcet and harmonious breath, that the rude sea grew civil at her song, and certain stars shot madly from their spheres, to hear the sea-maid's music." The papers were from my stock, I'm not even sure of the brands. I used the seeing spots Cuttlebug embossing folder on the beige paper and distress ink on the edges. The flowers were cut from the framework feature on Picturesque. Pearls from Joann's $1 bin finish it off.
I am entering the card in the following challenges:
1. K Andrews Getting Cricky with K Andrew's Simply Sunday Inspired Heart
contest &
2. Amber's Crafts and Stuff Challenge #5 - My favorite things
Mermaids and the ocean are two of my biggest inspirations and two of my very favorite things :) I hope you all are having a wonderful week!
