You Control Your Own Destiny

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope you are having a great day!
The theme at Celebrate the Occasion this week is back to school and I'll admit I really struggled with this card. I just could not figure out what I wanted to do. I love the school and bus cut from Heritage, but my gosh, I could not get anything to work. I cut a forest scene from Campin Critters and embossed the heck out of it thinking it would go behind the school. I didn't like the way it looked. I am not happy with this either and almost didn't post it, but I wasted so much time on it and I hate wasting time! I decided on a long card to fit both cuts. The background paper is perfect for a school theme so I went with that. I love this stamp from K Andrew's Positive Thoughts set. I was thinking that children can control their destiny by deciding to work hard in school and study :)

  • Tim Holtz Bricked Embossing Folder - school
  • K Andrew Positive Thoughts Stamp - click HERE to purchase your own set
  • Foam dots - school and bus
  • Colorbok Red Chalk - edges
  • Fiskars Corner Rounder
  • The Twinery - yellow twine
  • Button from my stash
  • White Gel Pen - faux stitching around bus (which you can't even see!)

    Like this and the background paper goes great with it. I beat myself up on the project I did for "There's An Artist in my House" using oil paints & such but sometimes we have to sit back & look at the project in another way.

    Oh Lisa, this is cute! I know what you mean though. I've felt that way about a project too. Actually, often...lol! But don't be hard on yourself. We can be our worst critic! I do want to be honest though, my stomach did churn when I saw the word "chemistry". Ugh, a bad memory there!

    Now as for trying to bribe Ms. Kiki for the gift card. Yes, she can be bribed but don't go through the expense of Beggin Strips, she can be bribed for a spoon full of peanut butter and a fortune cookie. ;) lol

    I love this card. The sentiment works perfectly and the paper and embellishments work so well with it. It may not be one of your favorites but maybe after a little while you'll see what we see when you look at it.

    This turned out great Lisa! I think you were a little hard on yourself...I have had a few challenges like that to~ where it just doesn't fall together and it gets a bit fraustrating and then the next week it wins a challenge..go figure:) I like your bus and brick school house. Great cuts!
