Miss You Card For Two Challenges

Happy Monday, bloggers! I hope you all had a safe and relaxing weekend. There are still a few hours left to enter to win my blog candy giveaway from the Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop. Click HERE to enter before midnight EST. I will announce the winner tomorrow.
I made this card for my niece, Lexi. I don't get to see her very often, so the last time she visited we got to go to the zoo and she absolutely loved the lions. Of course, they were all asleep and we had to stay at the exhibit forever until one of them roused themselves up and about. This adorable lion from Create a Critter reminded me of that trip and I know will make her smile!

I cut the lion at 3" from Create a Critter and embossed him with the Swiss dots Cuttlebug folder. The horizontal edges were punched with a Fiskars punch, and the vertical with an EK Success punch. The background paper is from Core'dinations Cosmo Cricut line. I added the crystals with my iRock. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and when you pull the tab at the right, it reveals the hidden message.
I am entering the card in the following challenges:
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop Challenge

Happy Sunday evening, bloggers! I hope you all had a wonderful, safe, relaxing weekend. I had so much fun participating in my first hop, the Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop and I want to thank all my fellow hopees (kinda made that word up) for their inspiration and encouragement!

I hope you all had the chance to hop along with us, but if you didn't, you still have another day to visit all the blogs, see some creative and inspiring projects from truly talented crafters, and enter to win some fabulous prizes along the way. Click HERE for more details.

Our Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop hostess, Barb of BugBites, is sponsoring a Bug Hop challenge once you visit all the blogs and collect the hidden critters along the way. You can post a project for the chance to win Kate's ABC's.

So, since this is a BUG Hop, I thought I'd create a little something for all the bugs of the world :)
The background of the card is from Prima Marketing's Breathe collection stack. The butterfly net was cut from the Camp Out cart. The butterflies are from Picturesque with added pearl accents, and the spider is from Designer's Calendar. The rest of the bugs are from Create a Critter, and I added foam dots behind them to add dimension. The spider web is from the Michaels $1 bin, and I embossed it with holographic powder. "Bugs revenge" is from a letter stamp set, and "help" is stick-on letters.
I had to create the little guy in the net by hand because I didn't have any cuts that would work, and I added googly eyes on him for that wide-eyed, frightened look :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and as always for your sweet comments! I truly appreciate them!!

Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop!

Welcome to BugBites first ever Hop, the Grillin’ & Chillin’ Bug Hop!

To celebrate the beginning of summer, Barb of BugBites is hosting two consecutive weekends of Bug Hops. This weekend it is all about the Grillin’, May 28-30.

If you've arrived here from Debra at Debican, you're in the right place! If you're just visiting my blog and would like to play along with our Grillin’ & Chillin’ Bug Hop, click HERE to start from the beginning.

Each designer along the bug trail is featuring a project based on the Grillin’ & Chillin’ theme. What’s more exciting is you can participate too by creating a project and linking it up over at BugBites for a chance to win a big prize. But, there’s a twist. Your project must included at least one Cricut cut and at least one of the critters that have been hidden within some of the bug stop blogs. Be sure to visit all the bug stops to find all your critter choices. While you are looking for the critters, be sure to check out the blog candy that each designer has to offer you. You don't want to miss out on any of it!

For my grillin' project, I created an invitation to a barbeque.
I ran the background paper through the Cuttlebug with the forest branches folder. The edges were punched with a Fiskars border punch. I cut the trees from Give a Hoot at 6". For the trunks, I used Core'dinations Cosmo Cricket wood grain paper. I sanded it to bring out the ridges and then inked them with walnut Distress Ink. For the two outside trees, I used the dots Cuttlebug folder and brushed it with peeled paint Distress ink. For the middle tree, I used the Swiss dots folder for the lighter color and the swirls folder for the outside. I adhered the outer layer with foam dots to give it some dimension. I attached ribbon from Hobby Lobby to the outsides for the pull feature of the card.
Once you pull both sides apart, it reveals the forest barbeque scene. The fire pit folds down to reveal the camp fire, cut from Camp Out. The rocks that make the fire ring were cut from Wild West. The raccoon, fox, skunk, deer and bumblebee were cut from Create a Critter at 2". I cut the roasting sticks from Camp Out and made the little hot dogs myself.
The barbeque banner is from Birthday bash, and I welded two together with my Gypsy and cut the inside letters from Base Camp.

I have blog candy! In order to win, you must (1) be a follower and, (2) leave a comment on this post along with a way to contact you if you win. That's it! The winner will be chosen from Random.org and announced on May 31st. Also, I have more blog candy up for grabs. Click HERE to enter to win!

Your next stop on the Bug Hop is Glenda at Glenda's Cards. Hop on over to see what awesome project she has in store for you today.

Remember, once you have hopped to all the bug stops, it's your turn to show us your Grillin’ & Chillin’ project. Make sure to include a Cricut cut somewhere on your project, include one of the hidden critters and link up your project over at BugBites by Midnight CST May 30 to be eligible for the big prize.
