Happy Wednesday, everyone!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! I hope all of my friends on the east coast are okay after the blizzard. I'm glad it wasn't as bad as earlier predictions...but having lived through a New England blizzard in the Adirondack Mountains, I know it's not fun. One year, we lost power for over a week and my Jeep was completely buried under so much snow, the fire department had to dig it out. Here in Indiana we had a very light dusting of snow but that's it. It's been a relatively light winter for us snow-wise. I'm not complaining :)
I have a couple of projects from Christmas that I didn't get the chance to post earlier and it's almost February...gosh I'm so behind!! Isn't this just the cutest boot??!! It's a file from SVGCuts...you can find it HERE. I made this for my Dad...a wannabe cowboy ;) The paper is from DCWV and I embossed the toe with a Tim Holtz embossing folder. For the strap on the back, I used a sheet of copper foil. The tag is a Taylored Expressions banner die. Merry Christmas is from Craftin Desert Diva's Happy Celebrations stamp set. I added some of my Dad's favorite candy before I gave it to him :)
I found this cowboy picture on a royalty-free photo site and I knew he would love it, so I purchased it and then imported it into Cricut's Design Space. I then used the auto-trace tool to cut around the image...my gosh, it was so easy...it did all the work for me. This was the test I did on heavyweight black cardstock but for my Dad's gift, I cut it in black vinyl so he could put it on the wall in his den :)
I want to make a pink boot for myself now :) I am entering this in the following challenges:

ReplyDeleteYes, I know what it's like to live in the North Country of New York too with all that lake effect snow. I can't imagine not having power for a week and having being trapped with a buried vehicle. Bless you. My in-laws live South Shore of Boston.
Hope you have a super creative day!

ReplyDeleteHold on a second Lisa, while I pick up my jaw from the floor! Wow!!!! This book is amazing and I love, love how you embossed the toe and the copper sheet for the strap. I bet your dad was in love with this book and that vinyl wall piece! How amazing that looks just cut out in cardstock and I bet it really looks amazing on the wall! I sure hope I will be able to figure this all out when I start using my Explore. lol Yes, up in the New England states, Boston really got hit hard. They showed a time lapse of a car all but getting buried. I think they got 2 feet of snow. And as much as I hate to say this, I'm glad it was them and not us!! We only got about 3-4 inches thank goodness. Keep warm and wish for an early spring this year! Hugs, Brenda
