Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #34 - Love/Valentines

Happy Wednesday!! It's time for a new challenge at Scrapy Land!! The theme this week is Love/Valentines PLUS a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries...there are over 40 to choose from. You could win a $15 gift certificate to shop at Scrapy Land :)

I created two mixed media Valentine cards for the challenge. The beautiful papers are from Craft and You's Wedding Garden paper stack.

The base layer is a Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles die. I popped up the top layer with foam tape.

I used Liquitex Modeling Paste between a The Crafter's Workstop 'Art Is' stencil. I like to use the Modeling Paste when I'm in a hurry because it dries pretty quickly.

A Die-Versions Heart Burst die was used below the heart. A Spellbinders Classic Heart was popped up with foam tape over a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Heart. Love is a Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlets Handwritten Love die. I applied sticky tape to the cutout and added Sparkle N Sprinkle Diamond Dust glitter.

Sue Wilson Designs Faux Quilled Leaves, Memory Box Botanical Stems and Memory Box Chloe Stems were tucked among the Wild Orchid Crafts blooms and baby's breath.

A Poppystamps Stitched Button die was added to the DL.ART Pink Champagne crinkle ribbon. The butterfly is a Impression Obsession Medium Butterfly die. It was covered with Sparkle N Sprinkle Diamond Dust glitter. I used my new Tim Holtz Splatter Brush to splatter white acrylic paint over the cards.

I love seeing the evolution of your mixed media techniques - very feminine without being frilly. So soft and lovely! The layers upon layers are incredible! GORGEOUS, Miss Mermaid! Hope you are having a wonderful week! I am trying to fit some craft time and I tell you, it has been a struggle this month. The last few days it's finally settling down, yay! I have been also dealing with a bum shoulder~I am sure lugging these grandkids is not helping the situation! I have started therapy on it and also seeing a message therapist every other week which seems to be helping. Thank goodness!
I am doing a small craft retreat this Saturday so hopefully I will get a little crafting done :)

  31. Lisa, wow, your valentine's cards are just beautiful, and I could seriously just spend my days looking a them! I adore your textured background (Golden's Crackle paste dries in a wink on an eye, too, and I use that a lot when I need something really light.), and your idea to die cut the sentiment and then add the glitter to the opening is just fantastic! Of course, I just swoon every time I see your lovely flower sprays! Swooning over this entire card! You're such an inspiration! Big hugs!

  43. My sweetest friend, your cards are beautiful beyond words... they celebrate love in the most gorgeous way. Once again you have incorporated mixed media into shabby brilliance so perfectly that I fail for words. :o) The dies are so pretty and the flowers are ever-blossoming with joy. The script is lovely and will definitely be my most-used mixed media goodie when I can dabble into it... I first saw it on Gabrielle's canvases and became enamored! I think I love it even more on cards like this. :o) Exquisite work, my dearest Lisa! Have a sparkly night. :o)
