Challenges are Just Opportunities Disguised

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you are having a great day! I was so excited the other day when I was looking for something in my craft room and came across my old Provo Craft Sew Crafty Mini sewing machine, circa 2003! I couldn't wait to use it! It only makes straight-line stitches but it looks so good on cards. I completely forgot I had it...it's been probably five years since I used it. Of course I couldn't remember how it worked, so I had to dig through my file of old instructions. But I found them and surprisingly, the batteries still worked! Once I used it, I remembered why I packed it away...the thing is so darn hard to thread! And the thread broke three times :( Don't look too closely at the stitching or you will see the places where it broke! It bothers me that it isn't perfect, but I didn't want to waste this pretty sparkly leaf paper.
I used paper from Cloud 9 Seasonal Stack for the top and DCWV for the rest. The flower is cut from Flower Shoppe - so love this cart! And the swirl is from Picturesque. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set. Click HERE to purchase your own set!

I used this week's Celebrate the Occasion sketch for the design of the card.

Recipe:
  • K Andrew Positive Thoughts Stamp Set
  • Provo Craft Sew Crafty Sewing Machine
  • Flower Shoppe - flower at 1 1/2"
  • Picturesque - swirl at 1 1/2"
  • DCWV Harvest Gathering Paper
  • Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink
  • Colorbok Ink
  • Foam Tape
  • Recollections Gem Strip
  • Hobby Lobby Ribbon
I am entering the card in the following challenges:

Also, I have received the Butterfly Award from some friends and I am working on getting that post up. I wanted them to know how much I appreciate them thinking of me and how thankful I am! I will get the post up soon, I promise! Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a great day :)

  10. Bee-utiful card. Sometimes we are harshest critics of our own work. I'm horrible at sewing and you did a wonderful job. I do not see the broken stitches.

  16. You had me laughing because I just did the same thing with my sewing machine! I could not get it to thread and when I finally did it just made holes in the paper! I ended up lugging out my big sewing machine and wow was it so much easier! I still have to make the rest of the card, all the attempts at sewing made me exhausted! Great card, your take on the sketch is amazing!

  27. Hey Lisa! I missed you this past week! Actually, I've missed about 5 projects you have done so I have catching up to do! I will be blogging tonight so I promise I'm going to be checking out all I've missed. This one is really cool, I like the threading on it. I had no idea Provo Craft had something like that back then! I like the sentiment too, it fits perfect with the card. I will catch up later, hope all is good!

  34. My dear crafty friend, how beautiful is this? The colors of Autumn are unlike any other and you captured them so beautifully here. Rich, yet vibrant. The sewing looks amazing, despite your machine's best efforts to deter you otherwise. :o) That shade of ribbon is absolutely perfect with its deep gorgeousness. And another flower for me to love... that cart looks magical! :o) Most importantly though, I adore the sentiment. It's quite similar to one of my favorites. :o) Beautiful work as always, my friend. I'm always happy when I can visit you!

    Hugs and blessings! :o)
