Merry Christmas

Happy Friday, everyone!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog...you can see the post HERE. I am sharing a project with you today using a die from the latest Die-Versions Christmas in July release. As fast as this year is flying by, Christmas will be here before we know it :)

For this card, I used the new Whispers Merry Christmas Script die. Isn't it beautiful!! It's such a fabulous focal point for cards. The papers are from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Christmas stack. The edges were distressed with a Zutter DIA. The organza ribbon was dyed with Tim Holtz Festive Berries Distress Stain. A Wee Petite Button die was used on the center.

The Whispers Merry Christmas Script die was cut twice, once in black for a shadow and once in grunge board. It was colored with TH Festive Berries Distress Ink. I then applied crackle medium to script for some texture. Once it dried, I added TH Tea Dye Distress Ink in the cracks to make them more visible.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art - August Linky
  2. Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you have a fabulous weekend :)

Deck the Halls

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend!! It was in the 70's here...perfect fall weather!! It's supposed to drop into the 20's this week so it was a nice respite from the cold. I have a card to enter into a few challenges today...my first Christmas card of the season :)

I'm not sure what you call this type of card...I learned how to make it years ago. The ornament in the center is suspended in the opening and it spins to reveal both sides of the cut.

The solid paper is from my stash, the tree patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye Be Merry paper stack. The circle was cut out with a Spellbinders Standard Circles Small die. The frame is a Spellbinders Picot Edge Circles, adorned with gems from Recollections. Random gems were also added to the tops of trees.

The ornament was cut twice in cardboard and then twice in white cardstock with a Spellbinders Heirloom Ornaments Die, after being stamped with a JustRite Deck the Halls stamp. The stamp was colored with Distress Markers in Barn Door, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass, and adorned with gems. A piece of monofilament fishing wire was placed between the two sides and then they were attached together. A piece of Ranger Memory Foil Tape was wrapped around the edges of the ornament. "Deck the Halls" and "Merry Christmas" are from the same JustRite stamp set, and stamped in Barn Door Distress ink. The edges were inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

The wire was then attached to the inside of the card, allowing the ornament to spin. The ribbon is from May Arts and the bells are from my stash.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. JustRite Friday Challenge #85 - Happy Holidays
  2. DL.Art Thankful Thursday Challenge - Anything Goes
  3. Sunday Funday #3 - Linky Party
  4. Docerela Creations Challenge #25 - Christmas
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

FCCB #91 - Trimming It With A Tag

Happy Monday, everyone!! I hope you had a great weekend!! The challenge this week at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog is: "Trimming It With A Tag"...use a tag somewhere on your project. I was so excited for this challenge since I avidly followed the 12 Tags of Christmas by Tim Holtz! I am always so inspired when I see the incredible techniques he uses, and I want to recreate them but don't have the materials he has at my disposal ;) For my project, I used techniques from his 2010 12 Tags of Christmas.
I cut a tag at 6" from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More from Core'dinatons canvas paper. I ran the tag through the Tim Holtz Sizzez Tall Pines embossing folder and I using the technique of stamping swirls directly on the folder before I embossed (I LOVE this technique!!). I then used distress ink in Broken China and Weathered Wood for the background. For the trees, I used Forest Moss and Vintage Photo distress inks. I distressed the edges and then inked with Walnut distress Ink. I cut the deer from the Christmas Solutions cart and inked the edges with Walnut ink. I cut floral leaves from the Tim Holtz Regal Crest Bigz Dies to wrap around the neck and then tied it off with a red bow. I used Tim Holtz music tape to create the banner along the bottom. "Believe" are chipboard letters I had in my stash. I inked them first with Fired Brick distress ink and then when the ink dried, I stamped with a Tim Holtz letters stamp in black Archival Ink. The ribbon is from Michaels and I added a crystal Tim Holtz ornament.
The tag is a Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Rectangles Die and I cut it from a Tim Holtz journal tag. I inked the edges with Fired Brick Distress ink and used stamps from K Andrew Designs' Winter Wishes Set:

If you have never visited his website, I strongly encourage you to do so...his projects are simply fabulous and you will be amazed!! Here is the Tim tag from 2010 that I used for my main inspiration:
