Happy Bird-Day

Happy Tuesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful last week of October!! Anyone have any fun Halloween parties to attend this weekend? If so, are you dressing up?

I have been in love the with Tim Holtz Crazy Birds since they first came out. I don't know why it took me so long to purchase them. I used the Crazy Birds stamps and dies and the Crazy Things stamps and dies for these cards. I kept the cards pretty CAS for my first attempt at using them. I hope you don't get tired of them because I'm going to use them a lot :) For the backgrounds, I used the TH Splatter Stencil, which was one of the things I won from the TH September 2015 Tags challenge.

For this bird, I used Distress Markers in Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Scattered Straw and Squeezed Lemonade, along with a TH Water Brush. The background was created with the same colors of Distress Ink, plus a touch of Walnut on the edges. Happy is a My Creative Time die and the banner is a Lil' Inker Stitched Banner die. The sentiment is from an old K Andrew Designs stamp set.

This birdie was colored with Faded Jeans, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Mowed Lawn. I am entering these in the following challenges:

1) Little Scrap Pieces Show It Off Saturday - Anything Goes
2) Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great week :)

DL.ART Thankful Thursday #164 - Coffee, Tea or Any Drink

Happy Thursday!! It's time for a DL.ART Thankful Thursday Challenge!! The theme this week is Coffee, Tea or Any Drink, and the challenge is sponsored by The Cutting Cafe.

We got to use some of the fabulous files from The Cutting Cafe for the challenge. It gave me the chance to relearn how to use my poor, neglected Explore :)

I using the Coffee Cup Shaped Card 2 Cutting File for this card. The papers are from an old My Mind's Eye stack. The ribbon is Caribbean Coral from the Tropical Summer bundle.

For the gift card holder on the inside, I used some old K Andrew Coffee and Tea stamps.

I used the Tea Box Holder Cutting File for the gift box. I decorated the box with Wild Orchid Crafts flowers, a Die-Versions Lacey Dots border die, a PoppyStamps Stitched Button die and a My Craft Spot banner die. The Orange Twine is from the DL.ART Shop.

Hooray for the Red, White & Blue!!

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful last weekend in June!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and and since we will be celebrating Independence Day in the USA on Saturday, I've created a couple of cards using the new Whispers Statue of Liberty die from the June release for the occasion :)

The Whispers Statue of Liberty is one of my all-time favorite dies (I seem to say that about all of the dies, but it's true!!) I remember the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty in person...I was ten years old on a family vacation. I was blown away!! She was so massive and beautiful and I was mesmerized :)

I cut the Statue of Liberty three times, once in red, white and blue. I only adhered the bases together so that the stars would look like fireworks shooting off the card. I added the stars that were cut from the die to one corner. The "4" is a Downhill Font die and "th" is A Little Mint Font die.  I cut the Statue of Liberty one more time in white and then added the stars to the bottom. The sentiment is from an old K Andrew Designs Sweet July stamp set.

And another version of the Statue of Liberty on star paper. I covered her in Moonrise Glitter Tinsel from Sparkle and Sprinkle and oh my, the sparkle is amazing!! You can see it better here...

I am entering these in the following challenges:

1. DL.Art - June Linky
2. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday #159 - Red, White & Blue
3. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
4. Jo's Scrap Shack Funday Friday - Red, White & Blue

Hat's Off To You!!

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a card to share with you using the Straw Hat die from the newest release. I also have some information to share with you...I'll do that after I show you my card.

I wanted my new Whispers Straw Hat die to have some dimension, so I cut it four times and then cut the center circles out, popping each layer up with teeny-tiny bits of foam tape. I mounted the hat on a Whispers Heart Burst die so it looks like it has a lacy edge :)

I cut a few Whispers Daisy Flair dies and tucked them among the Wild Orchid Crafts flowers. The button on the bow is a Wee Petites Button die. Hat's off to you is from an old K Andrew Designs Fashionable Friends stamp set. Also, I've been sewing on most of my cards again. I had quit for a while because I was always having trouble with the thread. My Mom suggested that I get more expensive thread (I had like the cheapest you could get!) and it made all of the difference!!

This is the first time I've used the new Straw Hat die, so that qualifies for Darnell's NBUS Challenge!! If you aren't familiar with the amazing Darnell or her "Never Before Used Schtuff" challenge, head on over to her blog, DJKardKreations for all the details!! I'm also entering it in Diana's DLArt March Linky party.

NOW, about the info I want to share...I'm going to try something new this week. Real life is seriously cutting into my crafting time and I have less and less time to blog. I've pretty much given up Facebook except for DT commitments already, and I'm still cramped for time. Visiting your blogs is one of the highlights of my day...I love seeing what everyone is creating. However, commenting is taking up between 1 1/2 - 2 hours a day!! I'd been trying to leave comments both in the morning and evening when I get the chance but it is still taking up too much time. So I'm going to see if commenting once a week will work, probably on Sunday. I'll go back and hit all of the projects you've created during the week. I wanted to let you know since I won't be around as often, BUT I will still be around and still comment on your projects :) Thanks for your understanding!! Have a wonderful week - it's almost April :)

Decorate to Celebrate #83 - Fall or Birthday

This is my first post of three...please scroll up for Day 3 of the My Craft Spot Sneak Peeks and the first Scrapy Land Challenge

Happy Wednesday!! It's a busy day on my blog today...this is the first of three posts :) It's time for a new challenge at Decorate to Celebrate. For Challenge #84, we are asking you to create decorations for Fall or Birthdays!! Let's celebrate everything wonderful about falling leaves, crisp evenings, autumn harvest or birthdays with your table decorations, party banners, pennants, yard signs, cupcakes, party favors and more :)

For my fall project, I collected twigs from around the yard to make a decorative candle holder. You could use a glass candle holder but I used a can that held crab meat. I painted it black and then adhered the twigs with hot glue. The ribbon is from my stash. The tags are layers of Tiny Doilies dies from My Craft Spot. Fall is from an old K Andrew Designs stamp.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

1. DL.Art - September Linky

Now it's your turn...head on over to Decorate to Celebrate to see the projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge. Then link up your Fall or Birthday project...I can't wait to see what you create :)

100 Days of Tombow Centennial Celebration

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!! It's been beautiful here - sunny and low 80's. We were supposed to get some rain but so far, the sun is shining :)

I am so honored to have been asked by Tombow to participate in 100 Days of Tombow Centennial Celebration. In March of this year, Tombow kicked off its "100 Days of Tombow" program at the National Art Education Association Conference in Forth Worth, Texas. They asked 100 different bloggers across America to share a project using Tombow's products. For every submission by a blogger, Tombow donates $100.00 worth of products to the Council for Arts Education, a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting art education and quality art programs nationwide, with an overall goal of $10,000 worth of product.

The package I received included Irojiten Color Pencils in Light Grayish Tone 1, Dual Brush Pens in Jelly Bean and a Stamp Runner. I absolutely love the stamp runner...it's ergonomic so it fits in my hand perfectly, and it functions as either a traditional tape runner or a stamper. And I love pink :)

I used the Dual Brush pens to color a Tim Holtz dragonfly stamp from the Classics #1 set. The pens stayed wet long enough for me to color in all of the design and then stamped perfectly. I love the look of a multicolored stamp :)  The tag base is a Sizzix Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate die, with paper from Basic Grey Out of Print. The stamp is on a Spellbinders Labels 2 die and it was attached with the stamp runner. The gorgeous crinkle ribbon is from my dear friend Karen of Little Scrap Pieces.

I tried the same technique on another card, coloring the sentiment as well. The stamp is from the Tim Holtz Floral Tattoo stamp set. The sentiment is from StampingScrapping Label Accents stamp set. The base is a Spellbinders Big Scalloped Ovals Large die with paper from Bo Bunny's Garden Girl stack. The next layer is a Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large die, the edges inked with TH Dusty Concord Distress Ink.

I wanted to try out the pencils, too, so I created two cards, one using the markers and the other the pencils. The base of both cards and the next layers are Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles dies, and the stamp is a Dylusions Mini Couture stamp.

It's a little hard to see in the pic, but I outlined the black layer with a Irojiten Color Pencil in Wax Yellow. The stamp was stamped with Versafine Onyx ink and colored in with Irojiten Color Pencils in Sea Fog, Campanula Blue and Porcelain Blue. The pencils have a very creamy texture and they apply smoothly. They are awesome!! The banner tag is a Spellbinders Nested Lacy Pennants die, colored in with Campanula Blue. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Fashionable Friends stamp set. Everything was attached with the Tombow Stamp Runner.

For the next card the stamp was colored in with the Dual Brush markers and a TH waterbrush. The color flowed beautifully with the water brush.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday - August Anything Goes
  2. Sunday Funday - August Linky Party
  3. Just B Creative Crazy - Just Because Linky Party
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a fabulous rest of the weekend :)

Star Spangled Happiness!!

Happy Wednesday and happy 4th of July eve to all of my friends in the USA!! I hope you have fun plans for tomorrow...cookouts, maybe a party, fireworks :)

I have a Patriotic page to share from my journal. The page was spritzed with water and then Dylusions Sprays in Cherry Pie, Postbox Red, London Blue and Calypso Teal. Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Paint was lightly flicked over the surface. A Dylusions Starry Starry Night stencil was placed on the page and sprayed with water for a ghosting effect. Some of the stars were colored in with Cherry Pie, London Blue and a white Sakura Gelly Roll Pen. They were outlined with a white the Gelly Roll Pen and then with charcoal. A Tim Holtz splatter stamp from the Spooky Stuff set was stamped in Picket Fence Distress Paint for the effect of fireworks. They were then covered with Ranger Rock Candy Distress Stickles for sparkle. The circles around the border were created with a Wendy Vecchi Dots & Stripes Border stencil, as were the stripes along the bottom. They were created with Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste.

Julie Nutting's Prima Doll Stamp - Mia - was stamped on book paper. Her top, headband and shoes were created with a Wendy Vecchi stripes stamp from the It's More Flower Art set and Dylusions spray in Calypso Teal. Her skirt was made with a Crafter's Workshop Punchinella stencil and Dylusions spray in Postbox Red. Mia was then outlined with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen and charcoal.

The sentiments are all from K Andrew Designs Sweet July stamp set. I couldn't decide which sentiment to use, so I used them all :) They were stamped on watercolor paper and spritzed with Dylusions sprays. They were then outlined with the white pen and charcoal.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp - Patriotic
  2. Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything Goes
  3. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday #112 - Patriotic
  4. Sunday Funday #11 - Linky Party
  5. Inspire Me Friday #109 - Anything Goes
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a SAFE and HAPPY 4th of JULY!!

The stars and rays were outlined with a Sakura White Gelly Roll pen. The sentiments "Home of the Free," "Because of the Brave" and "God Bless America" are from K Andrew Designs Freedom Isn't Free stamp set stamped with Versafine Onyx ink. The gorgeous crinkle ribbon is from my sweet friend and our challenge hostess Karen of Little Scrap Pieces.
