Little Scrap Pieces Fun Friday - Day at the Beach

For the Prima Doll Blog Hop, click HERE

Happy Friday!! Another week that flew by in the blink of an eye!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend :)

It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Little Scrap Pieces. The theme this week is one of my favorites - Day at the Beach. There is nowhere else I'd rather be than the beach :)

The inspiration for this easel card is a row of colorful cottages I passed once on Cape Cod. The beach huts are from Artistic Outpost's Boardwalk stamp set. They were colored with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and a TH waterbrush in Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry and Squeezed Lemonade.

The hut was then stamped on Tim Holtz Idea-ology Mask Sheets and then the huts were covered with the masks so the sand, water and clouds could be inked. The sand is Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, the water Salty Ocean and the sky around the clouds is Tumbled Glass. Water was then flicked on the paper for a distressed look.

The boardwalk was created with Kraft paper and a TH Wood Grain Embossing Folder. The embossing was inked with Gathered Twigs and it was cut into strips to resemble wood planks. The two stamps are from the same Artistic Outpost set. The tag on the left is a Spellbinders Labels and Tags die an the center tag is a Spellbinders Grommet Tag die. The edges of the tags were inked with Walnut Distress Ink.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Artistic Outpost - August Referral Program
  2. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday - August Anything Goes
  3. Sunday Funday - August Linky Party
  4. Just B Creative Crazy - Just Because Linky Party

Friday means another Fun Friday Challenge at Little Scrap Pieces. The theme this week is perfect for summer - Pool Party!! We want to see your cards, layouts or projects that have to do with a Pool Party :)

The base of the card is a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Rectangle, followed by a Grand Rectangle. The bathing beauties are from Artistic Outpost's Boardwalk stamp set. They were stamped first on Strathmore Watercolor Paper and then masked. I can not remember where I purchased the beach scene stamp - it's been too many years ago. I wish I could...I absolutely love it. It was stamped next in Ranger Coffee Archival Ink. It was colored in with Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, and the water with a TH Broken China Distress Marker. Water was then flicked on for a distressed look. The bathing beauties were colored with TH Distress Markers in Mustard Seed, Bundled Sage and Tattered Rose.

The clouds were created with a cloud mask and TH Broken China Distress Ink. The sun is a Beeswax Blazing Sun stamp, in Chrome Archival Ink. The banner is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant die, inked with TH Gathered Twigs and then stamped with the Bathing Beauties sentiment from Boardwalk in Jet Archival Ink.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea

Happy Monday!! My niece left yesterday and I'm still trying to recover!! We had a great time, but oh my, did she wear me out :)

I have a tag to share with you today, created from the awesome Beyond the Sea stamp set I won from Artistic Outpost :)

I started with Strathmore Watercolor Paper cut with a Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplate die. The girl was stamped first on the tag with Ranger Sepia Archival Ink and on Inkadinkado Stamping Masking Paper. She was cut out of the Masking Paper and then it was applied over the girl on the tag. The lighthouse was stamped next, first on the tag and then on the Masking Paper. The image was cut from the Masking paper and applied to the image on the tag. A cloud stencil was cut from paper and then starting at the top of the tag, TH Broken China Distress Ink was inked along the edge with a Tsukineko Fingertip Sponge Dauber. The girl was colored in with TH Distress Markers in Aged Mahogany, Bundled Sage, Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo and a TH Waterbrush. The lighthouse was colored in with Walnut, Antique Linen and a Waterbrush. The grass with Peeled Paint and a Waterbrush. The birds and the bottom sentiment were stamped with Black Archival Ink. I was afraid I wouldn't get my post done in time today...I spent the morning shopping for my other passion besides crafting...books. Half Price Books holds an annual clearance sale at the Indy Fairgrounds. Paperbacks were 50 cents!! I stocked up!!

The base of the card is a Spellbinders Grand Labels 1 die, inked with Tim Holtz Salty Ocean Distress Ink. It was then flicked with water. The next layer is a Spellbinders Labels 8 die. The beach huts are from Artistic Outpost's Boardwalk stamp set (love it!!). They were stamped with Ranger Coffee Archival Ink. The Labels 8 was then inked with Salty Ocean on the top and Gathered Twigs on the bottom for sand, and again, flicked with water. The girl was stamped with French Ultramarine Archival Ink. Her umbrella was colored in with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and a TH waterbrush. She was cut out and popped up with foam tape.

The waves are a Spellbinders Nautical Frames and Accents die, inked with Salty Ocean. The sentiment is from the Artistic Outpost Boardwalk set, stamped with Versafine Onyx ink on a Spellbinders Card Creator Matting Basics A die, the edges inked with Salty Ocean. Craftin Desert Divas Blogoversary Desert Hop!!

Welcome to the Craftin Desert Divas Blogaversary Desert Hop!! Today we are celebrating with Tara over at Craftin Desert Divas for her very first BLOGOVERSARY!! Woohoo, Tara!! Congratulations!! I'm so lucky to have gotten to know you over this past year :)

If you just happened to have stumbled upon my blog, please start at Craftin Desert Divas so you don't miss out on a thing. If you have arrived from my incredibly sweet and super-talented friend Migdalia, then you are in the right spot.

This is a "Desert" Diva Celebration!!

For my Desert Hop project, I created a Kokopelli wall hanging :) I have always been intrigued by the legend of Kokopelli...he is known as a trickster, a fertility deity, a traveling salesman, an insect and a warrior among other things. My Mom has a ceramic tile with a gorgeous turquoise Kokopelli that she got on a trip to Arizona. I just love it and wanted to recreate it for my project. I should have taken a picture of her tile, but I didn't get a chance to and since I'm traveling, I missed my chance. Oh well...I did use the tile to copy the image of Kokopelli.

The base of the wall hanging was cut with a Spellbinders Grand Rectangle and inked with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. The next layer is a Spellbinders Grand Labels 23 die, inked with Ranger Archival Ink in Sap Green. The next layer is a Spellbinders Grand Labels 4 die. It was inked with Tim Holtz Wild Honey, Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. A Paper Artsy Hot Pick 1008 grass stamp was inked with Sap Green Archival Ink and stamped along the background. The bottom banner is a Tim Holtz Tattered Banner die, inked with Spiced Marmalade. Harmony is from Artistic Outpost's Serenity stamp set.

I really wanted Kokopelli to look like turquoise, like my Mom's tile. So I traced around him with tracing paper and then copied him onto Ranger Specialty Stamping Paper. I then cut him out and sprayed him with Dylusioins Vibrant Turquoise Spray. While it was still wet, I spritzed Dylusions Black Marble and Melted Chocolate sprays. Once the inks dried, I covered him with Ranger Glossy Accents, and I used my finger to cover it to give it a rougher texture...more like real stone. The picture doesn't do it justice...it really looks incredible in person. He was popped up with foam tape for dimension.
