Celebrating 8 Years with Carson's Creations

Hello, everyone and happy Saturday!! Today we are celebrating Carson's Creations 8 year blogaversary!! Georgiana has been creating amazing and inspiring projects for eight years and we've been blog buddies almost that long!! I'm so excited to be sharing this celebration with her today :)

My Project!!

Since this blog hop is about a celebration, I chose to celebrate the arrival of summer, my favorite season, later this month :)

The papers for these cards are from Lemoncraft's Everyday Spring collection, which you can find in my Etsy store HERE.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the ribbon is from DL.ART. Tucked under the flowers are Memory Box Chloe Stems, LaLa Land Open Leaf Fourish, Frantic Stamper Assorted Foliage dies. Prills were added for texture.

A Memory Box Stitched Circle was layered over a Sue Wilson Flora die. Hello is a Penny Black Doodles die.

MY PROJECT!!

Since we are celebrating Janis' blog birthday, I created two celebrate shaker cards. I've used Lemoncraft's Yesterday papers, which you can find in my Etsy Store HERE. To cut the frame for the shaker, I used a Frantic Stamper Art Deco Frame. Celebrate is a Penny Black Doodles die.

The ribbon is from DL.ART (use the code LF222 for a 10% discount) and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Tucked under the flowers and cut with Lemoncraft Leaves paper (in my ETSY store HERE) are Memory Box Chloe Stems, Sue Wilson Orange Blossom Leaves, and Concord & 9th Layering Leaves. I added prills for texture, too. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the butterflies have been brushed with a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss pen for sparkle.

I filled this shaker with Tonic Studios Nuvo Pure Sheen Cross My Heart Glitter.

This one was filled with Tonic Studios Nuvo Pure Sheen Peacock Feathers.

Time for a Giveaway!!

Happy Friday everyone and happy first day of fall (or spring, depending on where in the world you live :) Gosh, this year is flying by so fast!! It will be Christmas before we know it :) I wanted to share some photos of the beautiful hummingbirds that have spent the summer here. I've taken a ton of pictures, but I haven't had the chance to look at most of them.

I just realized that I didn't process any of the photos of hummers with gorgeous ruby throats. I'll post them soon.

We had an incredible amount of hummers this summer. This isn't the greatest video...it was taken through a screen, but this is just one of four feeders and you can see how many there are (you can really see them if you click full screen). It was a swarm :)

I am going away on vacation today and I won't be able to visit you while I'm gone. I don't want you to forget me, so how about a giveaway??!!

A Mermaid's Crafts 5 Year Blogaversary!!

I can't believe it, but today is my 5 Year Blogaversary!! Wow!! My gosh, the years have flown by so quickly. I really don't know where they went. What a journey it's been!! I've been fortunate to design for some amazing companies and challenge blogs over the years, and guest design for several more. I've been blessed to meet some incredible people whom I'll be friends with for life. I've been inspired by all of you to try new styles and techniques to expand my crafty horizons. And I am so very thankful for each and every one of you :)

I don't have as much time for blogging as I used to, and my posts are fewer and far between. Lately, I've not had much time for Facebook either and I apologize. But I want to thank you all and show my appreciation for your encouragement, sweet comments, and continued support.

Die-Versions Mother's Day Blog Hop and Challenge

Happy Tuesday!! In honor of National Scrapbook Day and Mother's Day we on the Die-Versions Design Team have come up with a fun Blog Hop and Card Challenge. The Mother's Day Card Challenge will begin on May 5th and run thru May 11th and the winners will be announced on the Die-Versions Blog on May 15th. The Design Team will be picking 5 winners from the Mother's Day Card Challenge. The theme for this Challenge is to make a Mother's Day Card. And now for my project...

 I created two Mother's Day cards using several Die-Versions products. The cards are pretty much the same except for the colors.

I used a Whispers Hexagon Background die for the background of the cards. A Whispers Ring of Hearts die was popped up with foam tape and placed behind a Whispers Butterfly Punch Border die. Sticky tape was placed behind both the Ring of Hearts die and the Butterfly Punch Border and then sugar coating was sprinkled inside for a beautiful sparkle.

The light is a Whispers Gas Lamp Sign die...I cut off the sign part so it would fit with the design. The butterfly is a Wee Petites Buggy die. Mom was cut from A Little Mint Font. The button on the ribbon is a Wee Petites Buttons die.

Now for my project...

I created a gift bag and matching card to celebrate a birthday :)

For the bag, I used several layers of Prima papers sewn together, the edges distressed with a Zutter DIA. A Prima Junk Yard Findings zipper was used to "unzip" the paper. The butterflies are Memory Box Isabella butterflies, covered in sugar coating and popped up with foam tape.

Memory Box Chloe Stems and Botanical Stem leaves are tucked among the Wild Orchid Crafts blooms. Happy is a My Creative Time die, also covered with sugar coating. The banners are Taylored Expressions Banner dies. Birthday is also from My Creative Time. The button on the crinkle ribbon is a Poppystamps Stitched Button die.

The card was made basically the same as the bag, but the butterflies are punches.

You can sorta see that I used a Chloe stem for the inside of the card.

And because I can't just make one card, I made two!! This one with my favorite color of pink :)
