Simply Sunday Challenge - Happy Fall Y'all!!

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are having a great weekend!! It's time for another Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky, and I'm sad to announce it will be the last SS Challenge. There will be some exciting changes at Getting Cricky in the next few weeks so stay tuned :) The theme for the final challenge is Happy Fall Y'all.

The base of this card is a Spellbinders Grand Square. The background is a Crafter's Workshop Aspen Trees stencil, inked with Vintage Photo and Walnut Distress Inks.

The leaves are Spellbinders Nested Maple Leaves dies, embossed with the Swirls embossing Folder and inked with Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks.

The large leaf was embossed with Swirls and then inked with Walnut Distress Ink. It was then run through the Grand Calibur again without the embossing folder to flatten the image so the stamp would stamp smoothly. The stamps are from K Andrew Designs Fall-O-Ween:

I am entering this in the DL.Art 1,000 Post Linky Party.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Getting Cricky to see the amazing projects my Design Team sisters have created for today's challenge, then link up your Happy Fall Y'all projects!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

For the Show Your Style Blog Hop, click HERE!!

Happy Sunday, everyone!! It's time for another super-fun Simply Sunday challenge at Getting Cricky!! Today our theme is in honor of Earth Day: Give a Hoot. We want you to use an owl on your project and something recycled. There are big changes coming to the Simply Sunday challenges starting the first Sunday in May, so be sure you check back for all the excitement!!

Most of my project today is used with recycled materials. The paper is from DCWV Green Stack, which is made of recycled paper. I used an old box for the corrugated cardboard and a branch from my yard.

The owl is from Everyday Pop-Up Cards. I used a Spellbinders Label 8 to cut the cardboard, and I inked the edges with Walnut Distress Ink.

"Owl always love you" is from Owly Hoo:

Welcome to the "Show Your Style"
Getting Cricky Blog Hop!!

We're so happy you could join us for this month's Getting Cricky Design Team Blog Hop!! We have an EXTRA SPECIAL hop for you this month -- For the past week we've been celebrating the BRAND NEW additions to our Getting Cricky team by showcasing some of our FAVORITE K Andrew Designs Stamp Art Sets... And NOW, we'd like for you to get to know more about us and our very special Guest Designer (and former Getting Cricky Design Team Sister), Larelyn from Handmade from My Heart!!

Throughout the hop you'll be introduced to each of the Design Team Members who will share a little about their styles and preferences for stamping!! We hope you'll enjoy each and every project along the way, so let's get hopping... If you've hopped along from our special Guest Designer Larelyn, then you are in the right place!! If you are just joining me from your dashboard, or reading this via email, please be sure to CLICK HERE to start at the beginning with Kristal's blog (you'll want to catch up on all the FUN!!)...

Each of Kristal's stamp sets benefit charity. At least $1 per stamp set goes to benefit the charity noted on the stamp set package. Kristal is donating to the following charities: Cancer Angels, Storefront Shelter for Homeless Children, Intrepid & Fallen Heroes, E. Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Doorways Shelter for Women & Children (Domestic Violence), Wayside House for Women, Camp Good Days & Special Times, Adopt a Classroom, and Autism Research Institute. Kristal will donate $1 for every stamp set sold, retail or wholesale to the charity noted; and over time believes this will add up to some wonderful miracles for these special people. So you can feel good that each time you purchase a K Andrew Designs art stamp set, someone around the country is receiving some good help! K Andrew's stamps are all made and assembled here in the USA, which is very important to Kristal. This ensures all product materials are safe and that jobs are being provided and maintained here in America. You can learn even more about Kristal's stamps (and pick some up for yourself) by visiting her online store: K Andrew Designs:

Kristal's stamp sets are perfect for cards, layouts, and so much more...

For my project, I'm featuring Positive Thoughts and Scripture Sayings:

I can't really describe my crafting style...it's always changing. When I first started making cards, I used Card Maker on the computer (I cringe looking back at those cards!!) Then I moved on to do-it-yourself card kits in a box I purchased from I think Michaels. They were a step-up, but still cringe-worthy!! My current style is a mixture of shabby chic, grunge and vintage. And I still love my Gypsy :)

For my project, I made a Mother's Day card and gift box!! I had a request to do a tutorial on a box I made for an earlier project and I am going to work on putting that together, so instead of including the instructions now for this box, I will have them soon. I threw all of my favorites into this project: Spellbinders, Cricut/Gypsy, Flower Shoppe, Distress Inks, embossing, sewing, lace, tulle, ribbon, gems and Kristal's amazing stamps!!

The paper is from the DCWV Be Mine stack. I cut the flowers at 5" from Flower Shoppe and wrapped ivory tulle around them. The base of the design is a Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Label 4. It is embossed - actually, debossed...I flipped it in the folder without realizing it :/ - with the Plum Blossoms folder. I layered a Lacy Doily Motifs die, two Parisian Motifs dies, a Parisian Accents die and topped it off a Standard Circle small. I wrapped some vintage lace around the edge, and added gems from Recollections.

I inked the edges of everything (including the flowers) with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, and used it to color the circle. I wanted the center to be lighter so it would highlight the gorgeous sentiment from Scripture Sayings.

I wanted the card to match the box...but not exactly. I used a Grand Labels 4 and stitched the first layer to the base. The blue label is a Nestabilities Label 5, topped with a Parisian Accents die and a standard circle small.

I used the same vintage lace, some sheer ribbon, a flower button and natural fiber, and Recollections gems. The sentiment is from Positive Thoughts.

I am entering these in the following challenges:
  1. Little Scrap Pieces - Use Purple or Pink
  2. Craft Your Passion #106 - Die Cuts and Punches
I have BLOG CANDY!! I am giving away a set of my favorite K Andrew Designs stamps...Positive Thoughts!!

Getting Cricky Stamp Promo Week!!

Happy Thursday, everyone and welcome to Day 7 of Getting Cricky Promo Week, leading up to our monthly Blog Hop tomorrow night!! All week, we have introduced you to our amazing new Design Team. If you haven't had a chance to see their incredible projects, head on over to Getting Cricky and check them out!! This team is loaded with talent :) Today my dear friend Amy and I will be sharing some projects with you!! I love all of Kristal's stamps, but I will be showcasing my all-time favorite set: Positive Thoughts!!

For my card today, I used paper from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Madison Avenue stack. I loved the banners on this page, so I wanted to design a card around them. I distressed the edges and inked it with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

The black frame is a Spellbinders Fleur de Lis die. I used a Floral Oval frame and Classic Ovals on top.

The ribbon I picked up at Goodwill for $.59 (I love bargains!!) The gems are from Recollections.

For the sentiment, I used Fancy Tags, Lacy Doily Accents, Parisian Accents and Standard Circles Small. I inked the circle with Spun Sugar Distress Ink. Each layer is separated with foam tape for dimension. And the sentiment is of course from Positive Thoughts!!

I am entering the card in the following challenges:
  1. Crafty Friends Challenge #2 - Use Two Die Cuts
  2. My Craft Spot Challenge #52 - Make it Pop
  3. Inspire Me Friday - Anything Goes
Some of my other cards using Positive Thoughts:
