Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge - All About Disney

Happy Sunday, everyone!! It's time for another super-fun Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky!! Today's challenges is a special one...Getting Cricky is the last stop on the Disney Pixar Blog Hop!!

For my card today, I used one of my all-time favorite Disney charterers...Ariel, the Little Mermaid :) (Shocking, no??!!) I just love this cut from Disney Dreams Come True!! But....I cut it at 5" and still had to draw on the eyes because they wouldn't cut cleanly. Sigh. The Disney cuts are the hardest for me.

The base of the card is a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Rectangle, cut with sparkly cloud paper from DCWV's Paper Playtime stack. I layered a smaller Grand Scalloped Rectangle with Ivory cardstock from my stash, and the adhered a Grand Rectangle on top.

I fell in love with this cut the first time I saw it on the Disney Dreams Come True cartridge!! I used a mixture of Core'dinations Core couture for her tail, red paper from the DCWV Metallic stack for her hair, and the rest from my stash.

The heart is from K Andrew Designs I Heart You stamp set, stamped in Barn Door Distress Ink. I added crystals from The paper studio around the edge. "You're my Hero" is from K Andrew Designs Of Mice & Lil' Men stamp set!! This is one of my favorites...such fun sentiments you can use for a wide variety of projects!!

Click HERE to purchase your own set of K Andrew Design stamps!! And make sure you check out the three newest sets available for preorder!!

I used George and Basic Shapes for the larger hearts, cut with Core'dinations Core Couture. The ribbon is from Michaels, with a crystal gem attached to the center.

I have BLOG CANDY!! I am giving away a set of Pirate Tales and Fish Scales stamps!!

The Little Mermaid, Blog Award Thanks and WINNER!!

Happy Sunday, everyone!!  I hope you had a great weekend!! My Getting Cricky design team sister Jessie of Sugarlips Sassy Surprises is headed to Disney World soon and wanted to make an autograph book for her daughter. Fellow design team member Shawn of Crafty Chics decided to turn it into a challenge, the Disney Autograph Book Challenge!! Shawn is asking everyone to create one autograph page (8 1/2" x 5") with a Disney character on it, link it up at Crafty Chics and then mail it to Jessie (visit Shawn's blog for all the details).

Hum, I wonder what Disney character I chose?? Ariel, The Little Mermaid :) (shocking, right??!!) I used Core'dinations Core Couture and cut the Little Mermaid from Disney Dreams Come True.

I had a hard time getting good pics of the pages because the paper is so sparkly. The background paper is from K & Company Happy Trails stack. I love this paper...there are some raised spots for dimension but you can't really tell in the picture. I love the look of the waves :)

Ariel inside the shell was also cut with Core Couture from DDCT.

Ariel was cut from DDCT at 4" using Core Couture paper. I embossed her tail with the Cuttlebug Japanese Scales embossing folder. I had a very hard time not popping her up with foam tape, or adding bling, but I didn't want to make the page too bulky. "Tales of a Mermaid" is from K Andrew Designs Pirate Tales & Fish Scales stamp set:

Now it's your turn to help out Jessie and create a Disney autograph page for her daughter!! Then head on over to Crafty Chics and link up your page!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

Simply Sunday Challenge - Fantasy Land!

Hi everyone and happy Sunday!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!! It's time for another super-fun Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky!! The challenge this week is Fantasy Land! Create a card, layout, home decor item...any project with a fantasy theme!!

For my project, I created (big surprise!) a mermaid step card!! I cut Ariel from Disney's Dreams Come True, but I changed her coloring. I attached all of the layers with foam tape. The paper for her tail is from the DCWV Le Tres Chic stack. The paper I used for the base and the water is from Fancy Pants. I cut the waves from Life's a Beach and inked them with Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I attached each layer with foam tape to give the waves dimension. I added waves to the top of the card so it looks like she is in the water. The seaweed is from Life's a Beach, also attached with foam tape. I added some bling to the mermaid: a gem for her belly ring, and a pearl necklace, bracelet and flower barrette.

This is the first time I've made this type of step card with a prominent center. I didn't have the measurements when I was in my craft room so I played around until I came up with a format that worked.

I'm not sure where the paper I used for the tail fin is from...I had some pieces in my stash. I think it might be from the DCWV All About Girls stack. It is so pretty and sparkly...I took a close-up so you could see the texture.

The sign is from Camp Out. I cut it on kraft paper and used Walnut Distress Ink around the edges. "Tales of a mermaid" is from K Andrew Designs Pirate Tales and Fish Scales stamp set:
