Die-Versions Christmas Gift Set

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Can you believe Christmas is less than a week away??!! Yipes!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a Christmas project to share with you using several Die-Versions dies.

I love making ornaments using Die-Versions dies cut with vinyl. For this ornament and card set, I used Alcohol Inks for the base. I put together a quick tutorial on how to stamp the ornament.

I started with a white ornament, Alcohol inks in Botanical and Poppyfield, a stamping tool and pieces of felt.

Squirt random drops of the inks across the felt and then you just start stamping on the ornament.

Keep stamping and building up layers until you achieve your desired look.

This is what it looked like when the entire ornament was covered. Gorgeous, isn't it??!

I had the hardest time photographing the ornament so I apologize for the light glares. I used the Whispers Regal Reindeer die (not currently in stock). Christmas is from the Compliments Holiday 1 set. Whispers Holly Branches (not currently in stock) were added under the poinsettia from Wild Orchid Crafts. The beautiful ribbon is Pure Love from DL.ART's Valentine Bundle.

I used the same dies for the card, and the same technique for the background, using Ranger Specialty Stamping Paper for the Alcohol Inks. The Regal Reindeer die was covered in Shabby White Frantage.

I had so much fun with the technique, I made another ornament using the Whispers Delicate Deer die (not currently in stock).

DL.ART Thankful Thursday Challenge #191 - Fairy Tales

Happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! It's time for a new challenge at DL.ART and the theme this week is one of my favorites...Fairy Tales :) If you used the code l01210, Diana will give you 10% off your order at DL.ART.

I had so much fun making these cards!! If you look in the dictionary, the definition of a fairy tale is a children's story of magical creatures...wizards, fairies, goblins, mermaids... Of course I had to pick my favorite fairy tale creature...a mermaid :)

I started with papers from Maja Designs Summer Basics stack. The edges were all distressed with a Zutter DIA. The wave die is from My Creative Time.

This beautiful ribbon is Silvery Hue Sea from Mermaid's Tale Second Edition. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Tucked under the blooms are Memory Box Chloe Stems and Paper Smooches Foliage 2 dies. Pearls were added to the Chloe Stems.

This gorgeous ribbon is Blue Hue Tale from Mermaid's Tale Second Edition. Some cheesecloth and rope-type lace were added for a nautical touch.

The beautiful mermaid is a Tattered Lace die. She was cut three times...once in black for a shadow, once in patterned paper and once again in patterned paper that was covered in glitter.

The frame is a Spellbinders die that was covered in Wendy Vecchi Crackle Paste. Shabby White Frantage was added behind the mermaid. Celebrate is a Penny Black Doodles die.

The cards were topped off with white paint using a Tim Holtz Splatter Brush. I'm entering this in the following challenges:

1) Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
2) Jo's Scrap Shack Funday Friday - Anything Goes
3) Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday
4) Scrapping4funChallenge - Anything Goes
5) Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to DL.ART to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Fairy Tale project!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

So I haven't had a chance to take very many nature pictures lately, but I wanted to share some visitors to my yard. This guy ventured close to the house. But when I snapped pics of the groundhog...

...he was not happy about it - and he let me know it :)

And there are a flock of turkeys that live here all year around, but I was surprised to see a tree full of these guys...

Ugh!! Turkey Vultures!! Quite possibly the most vile birds in nature. Thankfully, they didn't stay long and they moved right along :) Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful Thursday :)

DL.ART May Linky

Happy Sunday and happy first of May!! Can you believe how fast this year is flying by? Gosh, it will be Christmas before we know it!! The first day of the month means a new monthly linky at DL.ART. As always, the theme is Anything Goes. Use the code l01210 to save 10% on your purchase at DL.ART :)

I created two mixed media cards for this month's linky, using Samra's beautiful mood board from Anything But Cute as inspiration. I pulled the blues and greens from the mood board, as well as the flowers and butterfly. The papers are from Lemoncraft's Forget-Me-Not, Never-ending Summer and House of Roses Basics stacks.

DecoArt Crackle Paste was applied through a Crafter's Workshop Brick Stencil. The edges of this card were inked with Tim Holtz Twisted Citron Distress Ink...seriously, it's become one of my very favorites!!

Broken China Distress Ink was used on this card. The bottom layer of the butterfly is heavyweight (110 lb) cardstock. The next layer was covered with Shabby White Frantage. Those two layers are Memory Box Isabella dies. The top layer, a Memory Box Pippi die, was covered with Recollections Ocean MicroBeads.

This one was covered in Cricket MicroBeads. I used a Tim Holtz Splatter Brush to apply random spots of white acrylic paint.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Memory Box Chloe dies and Sue Wilson Faux Quilled Leaves are tucked under the blooms. The sentiments are Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs. This gorgeous crinkle ribbon is Royal Blue from The Blues Bundle.

The tags are from My Creative Time. The twine is White Twine from Diana's shop. This gorgeous ribbon is Green Hue from Mermaid's Tale Third Edition. I am entering these in the following challenges:

1) Anything But Cute Challenge #13 - Earth Day (Blue, green, flowers and butterfly from mood board)

2) Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
3) Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
4) Pause, Dream Enjoy Linky - Anything Goes
5) 2 Creative Chicks - Anything Goes

DL.ART Thankful Thursday #178 - Water and WINNER!!

Happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a great week!! I have a winner to announce for my 5 Year Blogaversary Giveaway, but first it's time for a Thankful Thursday Challenge at DL.ART!! The theme is a fun one - water!! We want to see your projects that feature water in some way (you can always substitute a Thank You card for any Thankful Thursday Challenge). Use the code l01210 to get 10% off your order at DL.ART!!

For my mixed media cards, I created a hidden garden featuring a fountain filled with water. The papers are from Maja Designs. I used texture paste and a Tim Holtz Dot fade stencil, along with Shabby White Frantage and white paint splatters to cover the paper.

The bricks are an Elizabeth Crafts die and I layered them over craft foam for dimension. The big butterfly is a Memory Box Isabella die covered with Sugar Coating. The smaller butterflies are Impression Obsession Butterfly Set dies, also covered in Sugar Coating.

This shows some of the texture from the texture paste, Frantage and the Decoart Crackle Paste. The fountain is a Marianne Fountain die and sadly, this one has gone dry :(

This beautiful ribbon is Powder Blue from The Blues Bundle. The flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts. Tucked among the flowers are Memory Box Chloe Stems, Elizabeth Crafts Curly Leaves, Poppystamps Weeping Willow Branches and Tattered Lace Meadow Leaves. The "water" in this fountain is made up of Ocean Blue microbeads.

This gorgeous ribbon is Sweet Love from The Valentine Bundle (my favorite!!). Wish Big is from My Creative Time.

I am entering these in the following challenges:

1) Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
2) Pause, Dream Enjoy Linky - Anything Goes
3) 2 Creative Chicks - Anything Goes
4) Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #32 - Holidays

Happy Wednesday!! My goodness, the days just flying by as Christmas rapidly approaches. I'm so not ready!! But I am ready for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land and the theme for this challenge is appropriate: Holidays plus a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries (there are over 40 to choose from).

For this shabby chic Christmas card, I used papers from one of last year's The Paper Studio Christmas packs. I added a layer of tulle between the bottom two layers. A Spellbinders Curved Borders 1 Die was used on the white cardstock that was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder. A La-La Land Heart Banner was tucked beneath a Memory Box Stitched Circle die. The Heart Banner was embossed with Shabby White Embossing enamel. The sentiment banner is a La-La Land Stitched Element die. The sentiment is from My Craft Spot (no longer in business), heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

The button is a Poppy Stamps Stitched Button die. The bell was covered with gesso and then DecoArt Snow Writer, which I also used around the card. Big thanks to Pamellia of My Little Craft Things for introducing the Snow Writer to me :) Tucked under the flowers are Memory Box Shrewsbury Stems.

The flowers were created with a Spellbinders Poinsettia die. To get the wrinkled look, I wet the paper and when it was damp, but not so wet that it would tear, I wrapped the petals around the handle of a paintbrush. Then I took a pair of flat-edged pliers and squeezed the edges together. It was time-consuming, but I love the look :)
