Getting Cricky DT Post - #1 Dad

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a fabulous week!! This is a scheduled post so crossing fingers it works ;) It's my turn to post at Getting Cricky and I have a birthday card to share with you today.

Both of my parents celebrate birthdays the first part of May, so this one is for my Dad, whose b-day comes first :)

The patterned paper for this tri-fold card is from 7 Gypsies Venice stack. The black cardstock is from The Paper Studio. The car on the bottom fold is a stamp from the Tim Holtz Road Trip set. It was stamped with Versafine ink in Black Onyx. The #1 Dad stamp is from K Andrew Designs Guy Talk stamp set.

The paper on the top fold was embossed with a Tim Holtz Blueprints and Gears Embossing Folder. It was inked with TH Vintage Photo Distress Ink, as were all the edges. The gears are Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockest dies. They were embossed with Ranger Rust Antiquities Embossing Powder. The silver studs are from my stash.

Both folds open to reveal the inside...this would be a great time to remind you to link up your More Than One Fold card at Paper Playtime :) "Happy" is from K Andrew Designs Winter Wishes stamp set and "Birthday" is from Coffee & Tea For You & Me. These two sets are sold out, but the Guy Talk and a few others are still available at 60% off. Click HERE to get your stamps today :)

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

  2. DL.Art Thankful Thursday- April Linky Party
  3. Sunday Funday #8 - April Linky Party
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I'll be around to visit you when I get back :)

Hi everyone!! I'm so excited to be a guest designer this month at Red Carpet Studio!! If you haven't visited their blog before, head over there now...you won't be disappointed!! They have awesome challenges, both cards and layouts, and a very talented design team!!

The challenge this week is "western" inspired by old western films. Think cowboys, cacti, horses, etc... The sponsor this week is Dude Time Doodles, and they will be providing the winner with a $10 gift certificate to their store!!

For my western-themed card, I started with kraft paper and then added wood plank paper from My Mind's Eye Dolled Up stack. The oval design is a Spellbinders Floral Ovals die, cut on faux-leather paper from DCWV. The burlap was cut with a Spellbinders Classic Ovals die. The horse is from Old West. The stars are Spellbinders dies, embossed with copper embossing powder. The label is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant die. "Whoa! Daddy" is from K Andrew Designs Guy Talk stamp set.

I Feel The Love Card and WINNER!!

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend!! It's overcast and dreary here, kinda like my mood...I'm having Olympic withdraw :(

I truly admire Madison of Funky Cards and her I Feel The Love Project. Her heart is huge and so caring. She finds children that are going through a rough time and gathers cards to send to them to brighten their day. How sweet is that?? I would love to be able to participate each month but most months, my schedule won't allow it. I had to create a card for this month's recipient, Olivia, because she is a friend of one of my dear friends. If you haven't visited Madison's blog, Funky Cards, you should...you will be amazed not only at her fabulous projects, but her giving heart.

Olivia is an amazing girl. Soon after losing her mother to cancer, Olivia founded Kids Involved in Cancer Research (KICR) with a fierce drive to raise awareness and money for colon and lung cancer research. She was 8 years old!!

For this card for Olivia, I used paper from the DCWV Music stack. The base was cut with a Spellbinders Grand Rectangle die. The next layer is a Spellbinders Labels 10 die. The edges were all inked with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. The ribbon is from 3 Girl Jam, via my friend Gloria, along with the Bow Maker I used to tie the double bow. The rocker chick was cut from Rock Princess (the cart I'm giving away HERE) with papers from my stash. Crystals were added to the guitar and her boots. She is attached with a handmade wobble so she can rock out :) The tag is a Spellbinders Nested Pennants Die. "You rock" is from K Andrew Designs Guy Talk Stamp Set. Click HERE to purchase this set.

The inside is covered with Spellbinders Labels 25 and Labels 1. "Best Wishes" is from K Andrew Designs Winter Wishes stamp set. Click HERE to purchase it or see her entire line of stamps.

My Sheri Crafts Guest Designer!!

Happy Saturday, everyone!! I hope you are having a great weekend!! I am so excited and honored to be the guest designer at My Sheri Crafts today!!

The Challenge this week is to create a project with a Father's Day theme...card, layout, altered art, etc.

For my Father's Day card, I used paper from 7 Gypsies Venice stack. The base is a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Square, followed by a Grand Square. The next layer is a Fleur de Lis die, adhered with foam tape for dimension. The next two layers are Twisted Metal Tags and Accents dies. Although they look like crystals, the gems are actually silver studs...more appropriate for a guy card :)

On top is a Nestabilities Label Twenty, adorned with a JustRite Fleur de Lis Label Twenty stamp in Versafine Onyx Black, the edges inked with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. The top banner is a Ribbon Banner die, inked with Spiced Marmalade. "Happy Dad's Day" is from K Andrew Designs Guy Talk stamp set:

Paper Playtime Challenge #76 - Vacation!!

Happy Monday, everyone!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend!! It's the first Monday of the month, so that means it's time for a Delicious Die Cuts Challenge at Paper Playtime!! For Challenge #76, we are asking you to create a VACATION card using any type of die cut or die cutting machine for your project :)

We have two sponsors for this challenge!! Our very own Design Team member Sharon of  MeeMee's Creations is sponsoring with 2 packs of 6"x6" paper pads by My Mind's Eye Lost & Found: Union Square and Madison Avenue!! Our second sponsor is The Scrapbooking Queen's Royal Castle Shoppe with a pack of 4 Action Wobbles!!

My card represents my very favorite type of vacation...relaxing in a chair under an umbrella by the ocean :) The base of the card is a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Rectangle. The next layer is a Nestabilities Label 8, inked with Tumbled Glass Distress ink on top and Scattered Straw on the bottom to represent sand. The next layer is a Nestabilities Label 10, inked with the same two Distress Inks.

The chair is from Life's A Beach, cut in Core'dinations paper and sanded for texture. The umbrella is a Spellbinders Surf's Up die, inked with Forest Moss, Tumbled Glass and Scattered Straw Distress Inks and covered with Glossy Accents.

A Beaded Circle die was used to represent the sun, with a Standard Circle Small popped up with foam on top, and inked with Wild Honey Distress Ink. "Kick Back and Relax" is from the new K Andrew Designs stamp set, Guy Talk:

Click HERE to purchase your own set, or to see her entire fabulous line of stamps and twine!!

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Paper Playtime and check out the amazing projects my Design Team sisters have created for today's challenge. Then link up your Vacation project!! I look forward to seeing what you create :)
