Attitude is Everything

Click HERE for Jo's Birthday Blog Hop!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Fall doesn't officially start until the 23rd, but it arrived early here. It was 102 degrees on Saturday and 52 degrees on Monday! It's been chilly the last couple of days, the temps not even hitting 70. I had to dig out my sweatshirts!

I have to apologize for not getting around as much to leave comments recently. After a few days on life-support, my laptop died yesterday. It was an ancient two years old (note the sarcasm :) I'm pretty sure all of my problems stem from Vista. I bought my laptop when Vista was new and the next greatest thing. I even paid to upgrade to Ultimate. I have had non-stop problems ever since and now my hard drive is fried. I had problems about a year ago and the Dell rep tried really hard to get me to upgrade to Windows 7. I resisted on principle. I paid so much for the upgrade in Vista, I thought it was ridiculous to pay that much more that soon. I have a desktop computer, which I'm using now, but I use my laptop almost constantly. Because I use it for both work and play, I purchased an expensive model that I thought would last for years. So I'm pretty frustrated right now...a new computer put a serious dent in my craft supply budget...for like the next three years :(
I do have a card to enter into a couple of challenges today. For this card I used A Child's Year for the image and cut it four times to get the different colors. The background paper is from DCWV. I used a really shiny, glittery red paper for the apple. I embossed the top strip of orange with a Cuttlebug border folder. The stamp is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set.

Recipe:
  • K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts Stamp Set
  • A Child's Year - Girl image cut at 4 1/2"
  • Base Camp - A, B and C cut at 2/3"
  • DCWV Paper - background - rest from my stash
  • Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink - edges
  • Cuttlebug Border Embossing Folder
  • White Gel Pen
  • Twine From The Twinery
  • Button From My Stash
  • Foam Tape
I am entering it in the following challenges:
Have you seen the three new stamp sets Kristal of K Andrew Designs has coming out soon? They are so awesome and definitely must-have's!!

How fun do they look?! I can't wait to play with them...so many ideas for cards! Plus, she is offering a free stamp set to anyone who places an order of $25.00 or more! You can't buy this set!
Click HERE to place your order. But hurry, the Merci set is a limited edition!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day :)

Like the colors you used in the school card. I feel your laptop pain. My Dell of 2004 bit the dust just before Mother's Day this yr. My hubby bought me a new Toshiba at Fry's and I like it.

Lisa, this is such a perfect school card! You incorporated so many essential elements in such fabulous ways: bright colors, shapes, letters, and numbers. :o) But of course you went beyond.. the brightly colored student is so lovely with her super sparkly apple that she's so graciously giving to her teacher. I love it! Did you intend for the twine to be the typical school bus color? Amazing work, my friend. I love that there's a real purpose behind the sentiment, too! :o)

I'm so sorry about your laptop! Such an expensive loss... but one thing I'm confident in is that what you can't buy yourself any longer, you'll surely win or get surprise gifts of that nature. :o) He is our faithful provider in all things and will help you continue to deliver joy by means of your gift of creativity. :o)

Hugs and blessings! :o)

Sorry about your laptop. We had a similar nightmare with Vista. The tech advised us in the future to wait a while before buying a new operating system to give them a chance to work out the bugs. Also everyone I know that has a Dell has had major problems. When we bought the last laptop we were specifically told by several stores to stay away from Dell. We went through three Tobishas in less than 3 months, so I am done with them also. I always buy the extended warranty- I've always had to use it. Wish companies would enough pride to make sure something lasted without an extended warranty.

Love your card! And I hear you on the weather. The youngest emailed me from Purdue on Monday upset that he was lifeguarding in 100 degree weather on Saturday and by Monday didn't have warm enough clothes to walk across campus. (And I tried to tell him to take some warmer clothes, but I am just a stupid mother...sigh
So I guess I will be making a trip up to Purdue..sigh

Great card Lisa. Sorry to hear about your laptop, I know it can be frustrating. Another way to look at your craft budget freeze...maybe it's a good way for you to use up some of your "stash"...I know, not too comforting but things happen for a reason.

Lisa,

As soon as I hit the Powerball I will make sure you will have tons of craft supplies! That's the least I could do for all the inspiration you give me! And for the record, I think computers are evil. ;) lol!

Sadly, we do need them though. I'm sorry you had that headache and hope all gets better soon!
