Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #32 - Holidays

Happy Wednesday!! My goodness, the days just flying by as Christmas rapidly approaches. I'm so not ready!! But I am ready for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land and the theme for this challenge is appropriate: Holidays plus a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries (there are over 40 to choose from).

For this shabby chic Christmas card, I used papers from one of last year's The Paper Studio Christmas packs. I added a layer of tulle between the bottom two layers. A Spellbinders Curved Borders 1 Die was used on the white cardstock that was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder. A La-La Land Heart Banner was tucked beneath a Memory Box Stitched Circle die. The Heart Banner was embossed with Shabby White Embossing enamel. The sentiment banner is a La-La Land Stitched Element die. The sentiment is from My Craft Spot (no longer in business), heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

The button is a Poppy Stamps Stitched Button die. The bell was covered with gesso and then DecoArt Snow Writer, which I also used around the card. Big thanks to Pamellia of My Little Craft Things for introducing the Snow Writer to me :) Tucked under the flowers are Memory Box Shrewsbury Stems.

The flowers were created with a Spellbinders Poinsettia die. To get the wrinkled look, I wet the paper and when it was damp, but not so wet that it would tear, I wrapped the petals around the handle of a paintbrush. Then I took a pair of flat-edged pliers and squeezed the edges together. It was time-consuming, but I love the look :)

I was the first commenter, and here I am again to review every micro spot on this glorious masterpiece. How lovely, peaceful and BEAUTIFUL. Lisa, are your poinsettias cut from a heavy or light CS? Probably a dumb question but how did you wet the die cut flowers? Wash with fingers? Spritz? Paint brush? I've never used water like this before. After squeezing the petal edges, do you wait for them to dry before applying more mediums to them? Love the solid layer of tulle. Lisa, thank you for inspiring me with your pretty art. Hugs, de

Wow, Lisa!!!! NO ONE layers dies so beautifully as you do! You make me want to go out and add everyone of these dies to my little collection! I've had your lovely card on my mind ever since I laid eyes on it, but I haven't had time to come have a proper look or leave a comment that truly expressed how lovely I think this is! There are so many things that I adore about your card, but my favorite is the way you have created those flowers--such a unique look for poinsettias, but wow--I saw some in the home supply store the other day that looked just like them, only in pink! Your touches of gold, your snowflake embossed Curved Border die, your enameled Heart Banner, you fluffy bow, and oh, just EVERYTHING melt my heart! I've got to pin this so I don't forget how magnificent it truly is in every detail!

There is so much love put into this card, and who ever receives this is going to touch it and treasure it forever! I know I would!

Thank you so much for joining our You've Got Happy Mail Challenge at anything But Cute! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Hugs! Sara Emily DT
