DL.ART Thankful Thursday Challenge #191 - Fairy Tales

Happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! It's time for a new challenge at DL.ART and the theme this week is one of my favorites...Fairy Tales :) If you used the code l01210, Diana will give you 10% off your order at DL.ART.

I had so much fun making these cards!! If you look in the dictionary, the definition of a fairy tale is a children's story of magical creatures...wizards, fairies, goblins, mermaids... Of course I had to pick my favorite fairy tale creature...a mermaid :)

I started with papers from Maja Designs Summer Basics stack. The edges were all distressed with a Zutter DIA. The wave die is from My Creative Time.

This beautiful ribbon is Silvery Hue Sea from Mermaid's Tale Second Edition. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Tucked under the blooms are Memory Box Chloe Stems and Paper Smooches Foliage 2 dies. Pearls were added to the Chloe Stems.

This gorgeous ribbon is Blue Hue Tale from Mermaid's Tale Second Edition. Some cheesecloth and rope-type lace were added for a nautical touch.

The beautiful mermaid is a Tattered Lace die. She was cut three times...once in black for a shadow, once in patterned paper and once again in patterned paper that was covered in glitter.

The frame is a Spellbinders die that was covered in Wendy Vecchi Crackle Paste. Shabby White Frantage was added behind the mermaid. Celebrate is a Penny Black Doodles die.

The cards were topped off with white paint using a Tim Holtz Splatter Brush. I'm entering this in the following challenges:

1) Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
2) Jo's Scrap Shack Funday Friday - Anything Goes
3) Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday
4) Scrapping4funChallenge - Anything Goes
5) Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to DL.ART to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Fairy Tale project!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

So I haven't had a chance to take very many nature pictures lately, but I wanted to share some visitors to my yard. This guy ventured close to the house. But when I snapped pics of the groundhog...

...he was not happy about it - and he let me know it :)

And there are a flock of turkeys that live here all year around, but I was surprised to see a tree full of these guys...

Ugh!! Turkey Vultures!! Quite possibly the most vile birds in nature. Thankfully, they didn't stay long and they moved right along :) Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful Thursday :)

Oh, how delicate and beautiful are these? The soft blues and greens really do suit the beautiful mermaids and the flowers just enhance them even more. I love those gorgeous crackled frames too, they look amazing!

Wow, great photo of the not too happy groundhog!! I think even the word 'vulture' conjures up unpleasant thoughts .... but you have captured him/her really well! Hugs, Anne xx

Wow this cards fits perfectly for you in your craft room sitting on a pretty table or even on a wall. Love those critters, you are lucky to see them when you can. I mentioned way back we do have wild turkeys here but they are up a higher elevation from where we live. The close to a vulture here is the Hawaiian hawk but even them they only come out when they prey when they smell something dead. LOL! Enjoy your weekend ahead.

Your cards are absolutely gorgeous! The Little Mermaid is such a perfect theme for you! That mermaid die is beautiful and so are the papers and embellishments you used! I love the pictures of the critters from your yard! We have a groundhog that lives under our back deck and my dogs are always trying to hunt him down! Ours is quite big too since he is always gobbling up the goodies from the garden!

These are both gorgeous but I think I prefer the green one a bit better - Diana's ribbon is stunning on this! I really enjoyed seeing the critters who visited your yard! We don't have anything like these around here, only bunnies and squirrels, and the odd deer. Your photographs look professional!

How cool that you have this signature mermaid die! And what a splendid set of vintage grunge cards you've created with her pretty image. Love the different colors, and I like that you tuck in that chloe stem into the bouquets. Gorgeous layers, always the marvelous flowers and the frantage (which I can't seem to master!)adds so much texture. The 'wood look' works terrifically with all the other delicate style on each card. TFS & Happy wkend. (also enjoyed the fab nature pictures!)

Gorgeous, gorgeous mermaids and that die was created just for you I am sure..lol!! Beautiful details and love all the pretty glitter and flowers!! We 'live' trapped a few groundhogs or woodchucks as we call them and relocated them, they have dug numerous tunnels under my garden shed and in the flower beds, so of it has been comical watching my hubby and them do battle (the groundhog always wins..lol)..did you know they are known as a ground squirrel? Anywho wonderful pics...have a great day!!
