Vintage Corset Cards and WINNER!!

Happy Friday!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!! I have a winner to announce for the Die-Versions Star Border Punch die, but first...it's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a project to share with you using one of the fabulous new dies from the May 2015 release.

For these cards, I'm using the gorgeous Whispers Vintage Corset die. Isn't it fabulous??!! All of the dies from this vintage/steampunk release are awesome!!

I cut the Vintage Corset twice and added iridescent vellum between the top layer and tulle between the bottom. Tiny crystal gems act as the buttons.

A Whispers Loopy Lace die was added along the bottom. Celebrate is a Sweet Wordlet die.

Happy and Birthday are also Sweet Wordlet dies. A Wee Petites Button die was used on the bow.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

1. DL.Art - May Linky
2. Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday
3. Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes

And now for the winner of the Die-Versions Star Border Punch!! I want to sincerely thank everyone who stopped by for Jo's Scrap Shack Blogaversary Blog Hop and the Die-Versions Mother's Day Blog Hop. I wish I could give each of you something, but since there can only be one winner, I used random.org to select which post to use (it chose the Die-Versions Hop) and then again for the comment (it chose #51). So, random.org picked as the winner, #51....

Congrats, Diane!! I'll email you for your contact info, or you can sent it to me at: indymermaid(at)gmail(dot)com.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great weekend :)

You have until Midnight, May 4th to leave comments. Jo will announce the random winner from one of the designers blogs on her blog on Tuesday, May 5th.

Now for my project...

I created a gift bag and matching card to celebrate a birthday :)

For the bag, I used several layers of Prima papers sewn together, the edges distressed with a Zutter DIA. A Prima Junk Yard Findings zipper was used to "unzip" the paper. The butterflies are Memory Box Isabella butterflies, covered in sugar coating and popped up with foam tape.

Memory Box Chloe Stems and Botanical Stem leaves are tucked among the Wild Orchid Crafts blooms. Happy is a My Creative Time die, also covered with sugar coating. The banners are Taylored Expressions Banner dies. Birthday is also from My Creative Time. The button on the crinkle ribbon is a Poppystamps Stitched Button die.

The card was made basically the same as the bag, but the butterflies are punches.

You can sorta see that I used a Chloe stem for the inside of the card.

And because I can't just make one card, I made two!! This one with my favorite color of pink :)

Bow Maker Tutorial

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend :) I have a quick tutorial to share with you today on how I make bows for my projects. I've meant to put this together for years. I'm sure there are many ways to make bows with a bow maker, this is just how I do it. If you are like me, you don't have much time to watch videos, so I made this a short one...a little less than two minutes. Also, if you are interested, I do sell bow makers in my Etsy Store.

I put together a couple of cards for the tutorial to display the bows.

I love this couple stamp from Crafty Individuals. I cut them out and popped them up with foam tape. The papers are from KaiserCraft's Kaleidoscope stack. Love is a Die-Versions Compliments Everyday die. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, with Chloe Stems from Memory Box tucked around the edges. Her dress is covered with a Wink of Stella clear glitter pen.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DLArt - April Linky
  2. Little Scrap Pieces - Show it Off Saturday
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful week :)

Krafty Girls Challenge #9 - Mission Impossible

Happy Tuesday, everyone!! I am so excited to announce that I'm now a Design Team Member for Krafty Girls!! I am so honored to be working with such amazingly talented and inspiring crafters!! The challenges are creative and fun...I hope you will play along with us!!

The theme of Challenge #9 is Mission Impossible. We want you to create a paper craft project that someone helped you create. It could be that they helped you design, cut, emboss...anything that helps you finish the project.

I recruited my Mom to help with my project  :) She can sew absolutely anything!! I asked her to stitch the Spellbinders Grand Rectangle to the base of the card. I am still a novice at sewing and my lines are always wonky. Her lines are perfect, even using my cheap sewing machine instead of her nice one. Thanks, Mom!! :)

The paper is from K&Company Brenda Walton Flora & Fauna stack. The base of the card is a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Rectangle. The bird and cage are Spellbinders Bird Sanctuary dies, inked with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and popped up with foam tape for dimension. My birdie escaped his cage so he could snag a forgotten French fry...

Isn't this sentiment fun??!! It's from K Andrew Designs newest stamp set, Beautiful Thoughts:

I absolutely love all of the sentiments on this set!! It is available for pre-order now!! Click HERE to order yours or to view the entire line of stamps!!

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Krafty Girls to see the amazing projects my Design Team sisters have created for today's challenge, then link up your Mission Impossible project!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

When One Door Closes, Look For The Open Window

Happy Friday, everyone!! Yay, the weekend is here!! I hope you have fun plans!! It's supposed to be sunny and high 50's tomorrow so I hope to be able to enjoy the outdoors :)

I have a card to enter into a few challenges today. All of the paper is from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Kraft Resist stack, except for the black background paper, and it's from my stash. I wrapped the black paper with tulle for texture.

I used the largest Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Square and the second largest Classic Square and sewed them together. The edges of the square are inked with Walnut Distress ink. The squares are attached to the black paper with foam tape for dimension. The bird is a Tim Holtz die, also attached with foam tape. I added a black rhinestone for his eye, and one at each corner of the Fleur de Lis Square.

The flowers are from Flower Shoppe, cut at 2". I hand cut the leaves. Both strips of tan lace are from Hobby Lobby.

The label is a Spellbinders Grommet Tag. I inked it with Walnut Distress Ink and attached it with foam tape and brads. "When one door closes look for the open window" is from K Andrew Designs Sympathetic Sayings stamp set:

I am entering the card in the following challenges:
  1. Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Kraft Paper

  4. Sentimental Sundays - Words of Encouragement
  5. Passionately Artistic - Linking Party

Time 2 Read!!

Happy Thursday, everyone!! I hope you are having a great week :) I have a card to enter into a couple of challenges today. The first is Cooking With Cricut and the challenge is Dr. Seuss or a reading themed project. I sadly have nothing Dr. Seuss-related so I went for a reading theme. The second is Frosted Designs and the challenge is to use numbers.

I couldn't wait to use my new Spellbinders Book Pages dies that I won from Shirl at Creations By Shirl!! I absolutely love them...thanks again, Shirl!! The red, white and black paper is from The Paper Studio and the pretty flowered paper is from DCWV...I picked it up as an individual sheet and I wish I had grabbed a few more. It's thick and has a nice texture and the design is so beautiful :) I stitched it to the red cardstock. The clock is a Tim Holtz die and I cut the girl reading a book from A Child's Year three times and attached each layer with foam tape for dimension. (Hum...I used Cricut, Spellbinders and Tim Holtz dies on this card...I should have pulled out a Sizzex die and covered all the bases ;)

I cut "time2read" from Base Camp, and welded the letters together with my Gypsy. I attached the words with foam tape and added a double layer under the "2".

I've used this stamp before on a card about reading...I think it is the perfect sentiment for books since they are made from lots of paper :) It's from K Andrew Designs Crafty Friends stamp set:

Click HERE to purchase your own set or to see her entire line of stamps.

The border along the bottom is a Spellbinders Floral Doily Accents die and I added rhinestones, ribbon and a button from my stash.

My blogaversary is only five days away, so be sure you stop back by...I will have candy!! Have a great day :)
