Happy Monday evening, bloggers! I have a card to enter into Getting Cricky's Simply Sunday Challenge - Freedom Isn't Free. I think I still had the Operation Owl Blog Hop on my mind when I made this ;)
The background paper is from My Mind's Eye Love Notes stack. For the strip of red paper, I used the Tim Holtz distressed lines embossing folder and for the blue, a Cuttlebug star border and EK Success punch. The red stripe and blue star paper are my weird take on an abstract flag :P The owl was cut from Create a Critter at 3". I used the seeing spots folder on the owl, argyle on the tree branch and I'm not sure what the name of the one I used on the leaves. The twine is from The Twinery. I used a nestabilities die to cut the tag for the sentiment, which is from K Andrew's awesome Freedom Isn't Free set. $1 from every stamp set sold benefits the Intrepid Fallen Heroes for those who are seriously wounded/disfigured while serving overseas service. Click HERE to purchase your own set. I actually combined two stamps. I taped over the other words on the American Solider stamp because I liked how this sentiment sounded for this card.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I promise to have those tutorials up soon :)

A nice way to honor the reason we are free. Just came from Becka's site where I won a stamp set for posting a comment on her blog for the Operation Owl blog hop.

Lisa, I love that owl. I like the way you embossed him too. Your card is terrific, as usual :) Your embossing (limb, leaves, and both backgrounds) add so much dimension and texture. Gorgeous!
You are such a sweet friend….thank you for the comment you left on my blog a few minutes ago.
Oh gosh Lisa, this is just stunning. I love how you incorporated our country's beautiful colors in trims/patterns that I don't usually see. Of course I'm in love with all that embossing... and the sentiment is just gorgeous. The owl is so beautiful and I love how his wings are sparkly.. just like our soldiers have brightened our lives so richly by enabling *us* to fly. This will be a blessing, indeed.
Hugs and blessings to you! :o)
