Happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! It's almost Memorial Day weekend here in the USA, a time to remember those who gave all in service to our country. And in Indiana, that also means the Indianapolis 500 :) It's time for another Thankful Thursday challenge at DL.ART, and for Challenge #181, the theme is Boys or Men. If you use the code l01210, you'll get 10% off your order at DL.ART.
I do so few masculine cards, I truly struggle. For these cards I used heavyweight black cardstock for the base and then I added a layer of tulle for some texture. The papers are from Maja Designs Vintage Summer Basics stack.
I added Liquitex Modeling Paste through a The Crafters Workshop Clock stencil and then added a Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die.
The 'Happy' die is from My Creative Time, as is the 'father's day' stamp. They were embossed with Sparkle N Sprinkle Copper Flame embossing powder. The banners are from Taylored Expressions Banner Stacklets One dies. The circle is a Memory Box Stitched Circle die, embossed with Copper Flame, and the button is a Poppystamps Stitched Button die, also embossed with Copper Flame. The beautiful crinkle ribbon is Granite from The Galaxy Bundle. The Black and White Twine is also from the DL.ART shop. I finished them up with some spatters of black paint with a Tim Holtz Splatter brush.
I am entering this in the following challenges:
1) Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
2) Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
3) Pause, Dream Enjoy Linky - Anything Goes
4) 2 Creative Chicks - Anything Goes
5) Little Scrap Pieces Show it Off Saturday - Anything Goes
Now it's your turn!! Head on over to DL.ART to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Boys or Men project!! I can't wait to see what you create :)
I had to share this picture with you after showing you the beautiful pictures of the turkeys all puffed up on my last post. I heard a loud noise outside and I looked out the window to see these two locked in a death match!! They were banging into things all over the yard. I was even able to sneak outside to snap their picture...they were so engrossed in their battle, they didn't even hear me. Sadly, they were moving around so much, the pictures were blurry. This is the best of the lot and it's not the sharpest. I was afraid one of them would snap the others neck, but thankfully they broke apart after a few minutes and went their respective ways :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Memorial Day to all my friends in the USA!!

I too struggle with masculine cards. Who would believe though that you do?!?!? You certainly mastered this challenge!
I'm happy the turkeys didn't kill or injure each other. I wish you a wonderful holiday weekend.
wow, stunning card, I love your design and colours, perfect masculine card.
First of all Lisa dear friend, it certainly doesn't look like you struggle with masculine cards! This one is amazing! I love all those beautiful layers, the shabby chic look and that beautiful floppy bow! Fabulous!! Fancy catching a battle between two turkeys in your own garden! I don't think the blur is a focussing issue, I think it is just movement blur and adds to the drama of the shot! Well done, it's not an easy thing to shoot and you've managed superbly! Is there nothing you can't turn your hand to, my super talented friend! Have a great Memorial Day (our Memorial Day isn't until November). Hazel xx

Your photo is amazing! And... it almost looks as though they are wearing vintage RWB colors, doesn't it? Your masculine cards look amazing, too, Lisa, done you your classic "Lisa" style with rich earthy tones and strong layers of metallics. Gorgeousness! Happy Memorial Day to you as well, my friend. I do so cherish every soul who has fought valiantly to bring about the freedom we enjoy - and to all those the world over who fight against dark powers of oppression. hugs, de

This is a perfect guy card. I have that clock die and seldom use it because of the size. The composition is fabulous with all the circles and clock pieces. Love this card.

I would never have guessed that you do not make many male cards - these are simply amazing! I love the beautiful background, it looks a little like concrete to me - which is fantastic! The design is fabulous and I love the sentiment in the different fonts, it makes quite the impact. And then there is those turkeys - wow, you did well to get such an amazing photo - glad to hear they ended up OK! Hugs, Anne xx

Fabulous cards! I would never have thought a bow could go on a masculine card and work...only you could do this. I love it!!! Hugs, Robin
Lisa, you would never know you don't feel comfortable creating masculine cards, because your card is simply lovely! I get the sense of a stone background and the copper and black just makes everything pop! I love how you used the clock hand to lead the eye to the sentiment, and your inclusion of the slightly feminine touches of tulle and ribbon. That is so YOU!
Your photo is just amazing; I think the bit of blur makes you understand it was an action shot. What an wonderful shot you snapped! And your tribute to our BRAVE that have sacrificed so much for our freedoms is so sweet! Thank you for that! Big hugs and enjoy your weekend!
Fabulous card! Love the details and layers. Gorgeous photo too! TFS

Fab design Lisa - never easy to do a 'male' card. Wowsers, those turkeys mean business! Wishing you a lovely weekend. Nicola x
You would never know you struggle with masculine cards, this looks fabulous Lisa! Cool photo of the turkeys, great action shot. Enjoy your weekend :)
You always make the most beautiful cards and now you have made fantastic male cards. You never cease to amaze me. I love the look of these cards and the copper really says male. The turkeys are a hoot. I guess they lose their tempers too! They look like they were embossed with pewter embossing powder with added touches of blue! I love the excitment of the city with the parade and race fans. Also a special time to honor our veterans.

I totally enjoy these cards! And your turkey pictures are wowzers! To be able to see and take a pic of the males engaging in a fight is epic. Have an amazing Memorial Day weekend! Hugz to you muffin! ~Niki

I struggle with masculine cards, too. Mine end up looking a little girly. I wish men were secure enough in their manhood to get some flower cards. LOL You did a great job on yours. Tim Holtz is always a bit helpful in the masculine department.
You have all kinds of drama going on in your back yard. :-)
Have a great weekend.

Love your Father's day card. I am loving your new look of your blog my dear friend. We have lots of birds in our yard, but I could never take as wonderful pictures as you do. Hope all is well with you and if you have any veterans in your family please thank them for their service. Have a fabulous day.
Hugs,
Cindy Lou

I love the black accents and the layers on your masculine card. It looks awesome!
Fabulous masculine card Lisa! I love the black and white palette, and the small touches of copper really jazz it up! Amazing texture in the background, I love that it doesn't steal focus from the clock face. Just wonderful! I can't believe what a great action shot you captured of the turkeys, wowzers, how cool is that!! What an amazing thing to have turkeys roaming around in your yard! hugs :)
So fabulous the copper embossing looks and boy was I surprised to see the turkey photo on your blog!!
