Hat's Off To You!!

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a card to share with you using the Straw Hat die from the newest release. I also have some information to share with you...I'll do that after I show you my card.

I wanted my new Whispers Straw Hat die to have some dimension, so I cut it four times and then cut the center circles out, popping each layer up with teeny-tiny bits of foam tape. I mounted the hat on a Whispers Heart Burst die so it looks like it has a lacy edge :)

I cut a few Whispers Daisy Flair dies and tucked them among the Wild Orchid Crafts flowers. The button on the bow is a Wee Petites Button die. Hat's off to you is from an old K Andrew Designs Fashionable Friends stamp set. Also, I've been sewing on most of my cards again. I had quit for a while because I was always having trouble with the thread. My Mom suggested that I get more expensive thread (I had like the cheapest you could get!) and it made all of the difference!!

This is the first time I've used the new Straw Hat die, so that qualifies for Darnell's NBUS Challenge!! If you aren't familiar with the amazing Darnell or her "Never Before Used Schtuff" challenge, head on over to her blog, DJKardKreations for all the details!! I'm also entering it in Diana's DLArt March Linky party.

NOW, about the info I want to share...I'm going to try something new this week. Real life is seriously cutting into my crafting time and I have less and less time to blog. I've pretty much given up Facebook except for DT commitments already, and I'm still cramped for time. Visiting your blogs is one of the highlights of my day...I love seeing what everyone is creating. However, commenting is taking up between 1 1/2 - 2 hours a day!! I'd been trying to leave comments both in the morning and evening when I get the chance but it is still taking up too much time. So I'm going to see if commenting once a week will work, probably on Sunday. I'll go back and hit all of the projects you've created during the week. I wanted to let you know since I won't be around as often, BUT I will still be around and still comment on your projects :) Thanks for your understanding!! Have a wonderful week - it's almost April :)

Beautiful...what a wonderful new die.....I love the "lacey" look underneath...so creative...and as always love all your beautiful details!! I can fully understand about the commenting....and I know you do a lot of it...I am on 8 design teams..can you believe that...wow...it take sup ALL my time and then I have commenting to for for most of those, too...but I am still hanging in there as not to get behind..lol..I am thinking of spending less and less time in my "creative" room...as my gardens will soon be "blooming: and they need a massive cleanup...so anywho...I will still be back here when I see you have a new post..I love your "stuff"!!!

Love your card. Pretty colours and lots of dimension. Glad you found some thread that worked. Sometimes we have to put out a little more $$$ for the best results. And I hate when real life gets in the way! Anyways have a teriffic week!

Gorgeous project and I love how you've given dimension to the straw hat and of course the colors (red is my favorite). I agree with you about how long it takes to comment. I used to do it daily and am now lucky if I can visit everyone once a week. Hope your new schedule works for you and I know everyone will understand.

This is a beautiful card Lisa! I am in love with that straw hat, and I love how you put a doily under it to look like it has lace going around it. Gosh, I didn't know that having better quality thread would make a difference on paper! Good to know that. I know what you mean Lisa, I try commenting daily. in the mornings and evenings, but I still don't get around to everyone and end up behind. It takes forever and if I miss a day well I'm so far behind I can't see my way to getting caught up, so I just start commenting on new stuff. I think I should try something new too. lol I hope it works out for you Lisa, like you I love visiting blogs. I think for me I just need to keep the commenting shorter!!!! lol Hugs, Brenda

Simply gorgeous!! This reminds me of Scarlett O"Hara and her hat - love the birdie stamped onto the sentiment tag, too! Just beautiful, Lisa!
Thank you for the birthday wishes! Blessings!

Hi, Lisa! Another beautiful card! I have noticed that you beat me to commenting on most blogs, and I've always wondered how you do it. Due to cognitive and physical neurological health issues, I've also had to cut back on my comments. It hurts my finger tips so much to press on the keyboard, and I have a super light-touch keyboard! I try to do it every other day, but miss lots of posts even that way. So I've used Bloglovin to put everyone in a folder, and try to comment at least weekly on everyone's blog. More and more people are talking about having trouble with the commenting eating into their family life and crafting time. I think we all know that people see our projects, but that commenting is just not doable for lots of people. I'm hoping to play in challenges beginning in May, which will mean more cards showing up on my blog - but I don't want my friends to feel they must take time to comment. I just want to play. Maybe we should post something on the top of our blogs that says something like "so happy you popped in - please do not feel you must leave a comment, although I love reading them" LOL LOL

In the meantime, I love this card! xoxoxox

GORGEOUS card my friend! Wow, love the dies which you always do such an amazing job on your designs! The papers are so pretty and love the cluster of flowers:) Ofta, so pretty!!
I am with you on trying something new...it is hard to keep up with commenting, blogging and projects at times. I haven't spent as much time lately commenting as I just haven't had the time lately. I am thinking 1 day a week sounds great...let me know how that works for you! Hugs my friend!

I'm loving this new creation of yours. I really like the hat and the dimension. I can relate to the comments. I don't get back to everyone for several days. It is time consuming and I love commenting but if I do that I don't have time to make a card. I love the fellowship of other bloggers and would almost rather comment than make the cards sometimes! Come by when you can and don't feel bad about it. We have to live and be with our families first.

Wonderful card, Lisa. I love the hat, especially the layers to make it look dimensional. The flowers are lovely, too. I have fallen down on my commenting, especially since I must do so with the design team. I look forward to hearing from you whenever you have the time.
Best Wishes, my friend,

What a great die! I love the flowers you added too. The intricate hat is cool : ) I am with you- I try to comment on Sundays and get around to blogs, but I have to spread it out a tad. This hobby is supposed to be fun- good for you to make some changes when it starts to become 'cumbersome'!

I am loving the deep, rich colors of this stunning card! The straw hat is so, so cute! What a fun, creative die and I love the dimension you achieved by adding extra layers. This is really just gorgeous my friend.
I know exactly how you feel about "real life" getting in the way of crafting. There are just never enough hours in the day...sigh. So much to do and so little time. Don't stress over it too much my sweet, kind friend. This should be your relaxing, fun hobby - enjoy your crafting time and if you don't get around to leaving comments, we all know where to find you...lol! And, we all understand because life gets in the way with all of us at some time or another ♥

I always wondered how you found the time to comment my love! It would not hurt my feelings if you just left me a comment that just said "hi" every once in a while, I know that "hi" would be filled with love. This project is too cool! Love it!

This is a really pretty card. What a unique and pretty die...Nice job using it.

In regard to your sewing comment... I used to sew all the time, and finally got tired of thread breaking in my machine all the time...I blamed the sewing machine, and just stopped sewing. It wasn't till I did a little bit of hand sewing and had the same problem that I noticed my thread would break even with hand sewing. Okay, I know, I should have realized way before I did, that thread ROTS! (don't know how else to put that) I was using thread that had been passed onto me by grandmother and many other family members...the thread was very old.

Hats off to you my friend for creating this beautiful card. Love the die, the papers and as always your stunning flowers. I know what you mean about commenting. I have cut my days of commenting down to several days a week unless I find a few minutes here and there. I just go back and catch up on all the post for the blogs when I do comment. Hope this new way allow you more time for crafting.
Have a creative day.
