Hooray for the Red, White & Blue!!

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful last weekend in June!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and and since we will be celebrating Independence Day in the USA on Saturday, I've created a couple of cards using the new Whispers Statue of Liberty die from the June release for the occasion :)

The Whispers Statue of Liberty is one of my all-time favorite dies (I seem to say that about all of the dies, but it's true!!) I remember the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty in person...I was ten years old on a family vacation. I was blown away!! She was so massive and beautiful and I was mesmerized :)

I cut the Statue of Liberty three times, once in red, white and blue. I only adhered the bases together so that the stars would look like fireworks shooting off the card. I added the stars that were cut from the die to one corner. The "4" is a Downhill Font die and "th" is A Little Mint Font die.  I cut the Statue of Liberty one more time in white and then added the stars to the bottom. The sentiment is from an old K Andrew Designs Sweet July stamp set.

And another version of the Statue of Liberty on star paper. I covered her in Moonrise Glitter Tinsel from Sparkle and Sprinkle and oh my, the sparkle is amazing!! You can see it better here...

One Nation Under God

Happy Tuesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! I want to sincerely thank those of you who suggested using Benedryl for my poison outbreak. It totally works on the itching. More spots keep popping up and I look like I'm molting or something, but at least I'm not itching as much anymore :) It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a patriotic card to share with you today.

The new USA Whispers die is one of my all-time favorites and with the Fourth of July just around the corner, I couldn't wait to create a project with it. It is currently sold out but should be back in stock soon. I popped it up with foam tape for dimension and used patriotic papers from Bo Bunny. I've hoarded this paper for two years and I am just about out :( The edges were distressed with a Zutter DIA.

The pull-out tag is a Stars Tag die. Both sentiments are from an old K Andrew Designs stamp set.

I used a Wee Petites Super Stars die for the center of the bow.

And I added some Super Stars to the inside as well.

2. Little Scrap Pieces - Show it Off Saturday

No Regrets Steampunk Canvas

Happy Friday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! Here's a shocker - I'm actually posting and it's not for a DT commitment!! I actually had some time in my craft room...I used it as a distraction so I didn't itch myself to death. I helped my sister cut down a tree last weekend and we stacked and stacked and stacked wood. Apparently, it was covered in some kind of poison because I'm now covered in some kind of poison. I don't get poison ivy so it must be oak or sumac. I have never had anything like this. I'm a red, splotchy, oozy, itchy mess. My face, my neck, my arms, legs, back, you name it. I just ran and hid from the mailman and he was bringing me goodies from Scrapy Land - that's how bad it is!! Fun way to start summer, huh??!! :)

So anyhoo, on to my project. My sweet and amazingly talented friend Pamellia of My Little Crafty Things has started an awesome mixed media challenge blog, Anything But Cute. I haven't used my mixed media supplies in so long and I've been wanting to join in. I was afraid my supplies would be dried up from non-use but thankfully, they were not :) I hoped to participate in the last one and the theme was my favorite - secret garden. I started a project but was so busy, I didn't get to finish. The theme this month was challenging for me - masculine. You know how much I love my flowers!! But I was so inspired by my sweet and amazingly talented friend Samra of Paper Talk With Samra and her fabulous Steampunk Frame, I had to pull out all of my gear dies and get to work!!

To start, I adhered crumpled tissue paper to a 5x7 frame with Claudine Hellmuth's Multi Medium. I cut the Memory Box Gear Assembly die in cardboard and adhered it to the top left corner with Multi Medium. I then covered everything with gesso and let it dry.

I applied Wendy Vecchi Crackled Texture Paste through a Crafter's Workshop Harlequin Stencil on several places on the canvas. Once it dried and cracked, I covered the entire canvas with Burnt Umber acrylic paint and let set for a bit. Then I took a baby wipe and removed most of the color, leaving enough to highlight the texture and cracks. I rubbed Inka-Gold Metallic Rub in silver over all of the raised area. I cut more of the Memory Box Gear Assembly with a Silver Foil Engraving Blank from Royal Langnickel and then sanded off the black coating. I cut the gears apart and adhered them around the canvas and matched a few up with the original set I pasted to the canvas.

I added gears to the Frantic Stamper Geared Butterfly, a punched butterfly and a Memory Box Isabella die. All of the butterflies were cut with the RL Silver Foil and sanded. I cut a Tim Holtz Mixed Media die in Ranger Silver Foil Tape Sheet and adhered it behind the TH Idea-ology Ornate Plate. This moment, no regrets and the arrow are all TH Remnant Rubs.

Live the Life You've Imagined, the arrow, the game spinner and the metal flower are all TH products, covered with Inka-Gold silver rub. Happy is a Poppystamps Vintage Happy Birthday die. It was cut with Ranger Foil and lightly outlined with a charcoal pencil.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

1. Anything But Cute - Masculine
2. DL.Art - June Linky
3. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday - Man or Boy
4. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Favorite Technique
5. My Sheri Crafts Challenge #159 - Masculine

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #20 - Favorite Color Combo

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! I can't believe it will officially be summer on Sunday. This year has just zipped by!! It's time for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land and the challenge this week is favorite color combo plus a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries - there are over 40 to choose from.

I had a hard time choosing a favorite color combo...I have so many. Pink is my favorite so for these two cards, I paired it with mint green and purple.

The papers are from Fancy Pants, the edges distressed with a Zutter DIA. An X-Cut Doily die was cut in half as the base for the flowers.

Memory Box Chloe Stems and Memory Box Botanical Stems are tucked among the blooms.

BeYOUtiful is a Kaisercraft Script Words die. I cut it out three times and popped it up with foam tape. The side tag is a Spellbinders Address Book die. The butterfly is a Memory Box Isabella die, cut twice. The top layer was covered with sugar coating.

I am entering this is the following challenges:

1. DL.Art - June Linky
2. Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday
3. Papertake Weekly - Ohh So Pretty
4. Design Team Showcase - A/G from a DT

Happy!!

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Boy, they fly by, don't they??!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions Blog and I have a project to share with you using one of the new dies from the May Release.

These are in honor of all the ladies who love to ride motorcycles :) I am not a motorcycle rider, but I did have a moped when I was a teenager and I absolutely loved it!! It was a Suzuki and I named her Suzy (original, huh??!!) Oh, she was a beauty!! She would fly down the streets, much faster than my friends' mopeds :) Anyhoo, back to the card - I started off with the Whispers Floral Background die for the base of the cards. The Whispers Vintage Motorcycle was cut twice, once in black for a shadow, and popped up with foam tape for dimension.

These cards can be used for any occasion, so I just used a Sweet Wordlet Happy die for the sentiment. A Wee Petite Button die was used on the ribbon.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

1. DL.Art - June Linky
2. Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great week :)

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #19 - Anything Goes

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful first week of June!! It's time for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land and it's everyone's favorite: Anything Goes using a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries...there are over 40 to choose from!!

As you've probably noticed, I have been on a "Secret Garden" kick lately with my cards :) I wanted these to look like a couple strolling through a hidden garden, and another couple cuddling on a secluded bench.

For the backgrounds of the cards, I used Memory Box Trellis Border dies, and popped the top layer up with foam tape. For the loving couple, I used an Impression Obsession Sitting Couple die and covered the top layer with sugar coating. The bench is a Spellbinders D-Lites Garden Bench. The grass is a Poppystamps Grassland Border die. Enjoy the Moment...which I didn't realize was a bit hard to read in the picture...is stamped on a Taylored Expressons Banner Stacklet die.

For this card, I used a Frantic Stamper Joseph and Frantic Stamper Loretta die. Joe and Loretta are strolling on a Sizzix Brick Wall Sizzlits die. Tucked among the blooms are Memory Box Chloe dies and Memory Box Botanical Stems dies. The sentiment was stamped on vellum, heat embossed  and cut with a Taylored Expressons Banner Stacklet die.

I am entering these in the following challenges:

1. DL.Art - June Linky
