Noel!!

Happy Saturday!! Did you venture out for Black Friday sales?? I did lots of shopping...all from the warm and comfy confines of home :) What would I do without online shopping??!! It's my turn to post at My Craft Spot and I have some Christmas cards to share with you today :)

I have been having so much fun playing with my early Christmas present (Cricut Explore). I absolutely love the Noel SVG file from SVG Cut Files.com by My Craft Spot and I couldn't wait to use it. I created three Christmas cards using this file and several other MCS products. All of the papers are from The Paper Studio.

I started by cutting out the file in the base paper and then adhering a different paper behind to show through. 'Noel' was cut three more times - once in black for a shadow, once in white and once more in patterned papers. The layers were adhered with foam tape for dimension. The 'N' and 'L' were given an extra layer of foam tape for even more dimension. It was then inserted in the hole created in the base paper. Scarlet Red Crinkle Ribbon was added to this card, along with a Tiny Tags die. The sentiment is from Tiny Tags Christmas and the button was tied with Natural Jute String.

This card was created the same way, using Vanilla Bean Crinkle Ribbon and Sage Jute String.

Snow White Crinkle Ribbon was used for this card and Natural Jute String.

A sentiment from Christmas Chalkboard was stamped on the inside of each of the cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! I hope you have a wonderful last weekend of November :)

My Craft Spot Challenge #159 - Thanksgiving/Fall

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend :) Are you getting ready for Black Friday shopping?? I know I am :) It's time for another fun challenge at My Craft Spot. The theme this week is Thanksgiving/Fall. Play along for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to shop at MCS.

So today, I'm sharing my very first project using my new Cricut Explore!! Woohoo!! It was so much easier to use than I feared and it cut perfectly. I was happy to discover that I retained quite a bit from using my Gypsy, so I could pick up what I needed in Design Space. I still have so much to learn, but for my first project, I'm happy :) I've rediscovered my love for Cricut :) My first project was to cut the Curvy Box file from My Craft Spot. You can find the file HERE, and it's currently on sale!!

The papers for this box are from Basic Grey. The label is a MCS Ornate Labels die. The sentiment is from the Fall Leaves stamp set. It was heat embossed in snow white embossing powder. MCS Vanilla Bean Crinkle Ribbon was used and MCS Ivory Twine was threaded through the button.

The papers for this box are from K&Company. Another MCS Ornate Labels was used for the sentiment from the Fall Leaves stamp set. MCS Vanilla Bean Crinkle Ribbon was used and MCS Ivory Twine was threaded through the button for this one, too.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art Linky Party - Anything Goes
  2. Little Scrap Pieces - Show it off Saturday
  3. Decorate to Celebrate - Anything Goes
  4. Jo's Scrap Shack Fun-Day Friday - Thanksgiving
Now it's your turn!! Head on over to My Craft Spot to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Thanksgiving/Fall projects...I can't wait to see what you create :)

Christmas Candles

Happy Saturday, everyone!! It's my turn to post on the My Craft Spot Blog and I have a 3D Christmas project to share with you!! Have you entered this week's challenge yet? There is still time to enter your 3D Christmas project for a chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to shop at the My Craft Spot Shop!!

For this project, I wanted to decorate some candles to use as gifts and to adorn the holiday table :)

For this candle, I wrapped red wire ribbon around the base and used a sentiment from O Holy Night. It was stamped on white tissue paper and then I stretched the paper over the candle using wax paper to hold it in place, and heated it with a heat gun until it adhered to the candle and the tissue paper disappeared like magic :) The hanging tag is a Tiny Tag die, and it was used with a sentiment from Tiny Tags Christmas. The star and snowflake are from Small Alphabet and they were covered with Sugar Coating. Gems were adhered in the shape of a Christmas tree. Vintage Vanilla Crinkle Ribbon was tied around the candle to finish it off.

For this candle, a sentiment from Tiny Tags Christmas was stamped on a Tiny Doily die and tied off with raffia ribbon. Papers from The Paper Studio were used, along with white tulle and Washi tape.

This is one of my favorite sentiments...it's from the Christmas Chalkboard set. The letters were colored in with a gold pen.

This sentiment is from O Holy Night. I am entering these in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art Linky Party - Anything Goes

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #6 - Add Texture

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! I still can't seem to find time to get to my craft room so I apologize for the lack of posting lately. Things are always crazy the last couple of months of the year so I hope  to be able to post regularly again starting in January. Today, it's time for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land!! This week, the challenge is to add texture and use a brand of die that SL carries. I hope you will play along - you could win a $15 gift certificate to shop at Scrapy Land and there is so much to choose from!!

I made this card for a very dear friend who just celebrated a birthday :) The base is heavyweight cardstock from Canvas Corp. It was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The next layer was stamped with a text stamp from Darkroom Door and heat embossed with Zing Snow Embossing Powder. Then Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door and Fired Brick were sponged onto the paper. The edges were distressed with a Zutter DIA. Happy is from Impression Obsession. It was cut about five times and the layers glued together for dimension. Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Disress inks were used to color it. The banner is a Taylored Expressions Banner Stacklets 1 die...I use this set a lot!!

Cheesecloth was adhered behind a La La Land Stitched Elements die. Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used through a Tim Holtz stencil to give another layer of texture. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Impression Obsession Heart Stems were sponged with the Distress Inks and tucked among the blooms, as were Memory Box Tender Leaves. The Snow White Crinkle Ribbon is from My Craft Spot. The button is a Die-Versions Wee Petites Button die.

The butterfly is a Memory Box Darla Butterfly and it was covered with Distress Rock Candy Crackle Medium. Once it dried, it was sponged with Fired Brick Distress Ink to highlight the cracks.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art Linky Party - Anything Goes
  2. Little Scrap Pieces - Show it off Saturday
  3. Jo's Scrap Shack Fun-Day Friday - Anything Goes
Dies used from Scrapy Land (click on the links to see the dies in the store):

I did it :)

Happy Saturday, everyone!! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!! It's a chilly one here with a light dusting of snow. Ugh. So not ready for winter :(

I want to thank you all for the advice on my decision to purchase an SVG cutting machine. I was all set on purchasing a Silhouette. But after hours and hours of research I had actually switched my decision from a Silhouette to an Explore. ALL of the side by side comparisons I read gave the edge to the Explore. I really thought I was done with Cricut and sold all of my cartridges (over 120!!), but I kept my Gypsy. One of the things I liked about the Explore was that I could still use the images from the cartridges I had purchased. So to make a long story short, last week my sweet friend Diane of Nellie's Nest emailed me about a fantastic deal from Joann Online. It was an offer I couldn't refuse so...

I bought one!! I haven't had time to figure out how to use the Design Studio, but I'm excited to actually cut an SVG file :) It may be a while before I get the chance to use it, so any advice, guidance would be appreciated!!

Thanks again for all of your comments and advice!! I appreciate it so much!! Have a great weekend :)

Happy Birthday

Happy Friday!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a project to share with you using two of newest dies from the October release, as well as several other Die-Versions dies.

For the outside of the card, a Happy Birthday Corner Concepts die was placed in the top corner and Whispers Ring of Hearts dies were added to the side and bottom. A Whispers Party Hat die was adhered to a sheet of double-sided adhesive and then the covered with Sugar Coating. Shell pink skittles from Carri at Doubleclick AKA Abusybee were added to the bottom left corner.

The inside of the card features the new Pop-Up Gift Boxes die. Isn't it fun??!!

On the left side, a Whispers Big Balloon die was used.

On the right, Celebrate was spelled out with the new Typewriter Font die.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend :)
