My Memories Scrapbook Pages!

Happy Thursday, everyone! Wow, another week flying by! I was so excited to win the My Memories scrapbooking software from Karla at Made by Karla! I actually won it a couple of weeks ago but because of my computer problems and then having to get a new one, I haven't had the chance to use it yet. Well, I finally found some time and I'm so glad I did! This program is amazing!

I love to make scrapbook pages but haven't in a long time. My focus has been on cards and scrapbooking just kinda got pushed to the side. I have tons of pics that need to be put into scrapbook pages, but I don't have many on my new computer yet so I was limited with what I could create. But that was the only limitation because this program has everything!

This layout is of my princess niece, Lexi. I used one of the free quick pages that they offer on the site and it took me less than five minutes to make this gorgeous layout! All I did was add her pic and her name!

This one is of my cat, Calypso. Technically she is a feral cat, or her momma was, but she and her two sissies were born here and have lived here all their lives. They have been fed since the day they were born so they have never had to scrounge for food or water or shelter. Calypso so wants to be an indoor cat! She follows me around, is very cuddly and talks all the time - here she is mad at me because I was trying to take a pic of a card and not paying enough attention to her! She kept trying to step over my card!!

This is such a fun program to work with! I will definitely be posting more layouts in the near future!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Thankful

Happy Tuesday, Bloggers! I hope you are having a great week! This is another scheduled post and I'm hoping it works! I have a card to enter into the Cricut 360 Challenge #12 - Native American Day.
For this card, I used paper from the DCWV Harvest stack. This was one sheet of paper, but I cut all the elements out and re-attached them with foam tape to give some dimension. I used the Cuttlebug circles embossing folder and lightly brushed it with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink. Pocahontas was cut from Disney Dreams Come True at 4 1/2". I added Glossy Accents to her hair to make it shine. The stamp is from the K Andrews Design Fall-O-Ween stamp set. To show you how versatile these stamps are, I curved the sentiment so it followed the arc of the circle. I then embossed it with Holographic embossing powder.

There are so many great Fall and Halloween sentiments on this set:

Once things settle down here next week, I'll be around to visit! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day :)

Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge - Fall Treats!

Happy Sunday, bloggers! It's time for another super-fun Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge! The theme this week is Fall Treats. I love Fall...it is my favorite season! Pumpkins, hayrides, apple cider, haunted houses...I love it all :)
I had an idea for a card - an adorable puppy jumping into a pile of freshly-raked leaves...scattering them everywhere. I have so many Cricut carts, and couldn't find the image of the dog I had in my head. I settled for this one because he looks whimsical, but it isn't what I pictured :)

I cut the adorable pup from Doodlecharms at 1 1/2" and added googly eyes and a tongue. The leaves were cut from Stretch Your Imagination at 1/2" in red, orange and yellow DCWV glimmer paper. The tree is from Heritage, cut at 5" and embossed with the polka dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and then brushed with Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink. The rake is from Freshly Picked, cut at 2". I used Mod Podge to attach everything to the page. The background paper is from DCWV Harvest stack. The "Fall" stamp is from the K Andrew Designs FALL-O-WEEN stamp set!
"Whimsy is Essential" is from the Positive Thoughts set:
Aren't these awesome?! Click HERE to purchase your own set or to view all of her fabulous stamps for sale!
I am entering the card in the following challenges:

Cooking With Cricut #52 - The Colors of Autumn
Whimsical Wednesday #24 - Fall Colors
My Craft Spot #26 - Fall Leaves

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to visit Getting Cricky to see all of the amazing projects the design team has made for the challenge, and don't forget to link up your project as well! Have a great day!! :)

Smooth Sailling

Happy Friday, everyone! Another weekend is almost upon us! Wow, how time flies! First today, I would like to sincerely thank Sabrina of Scrappin' With Sabrina for gifting me with the Butterfly Award! I am so honored and thankful! I hope you will stop by Sabrina's fabulous blog to see her amazing creations! She is so talented and creative and I just love visiting her and I know you will, too! Thanks again, Sabrina! I appreciate it!!
I have made several boat-themed cards the last few months, but I've never used this cut. The challenge this week at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog is "It's A Pirate's Life". The pirate ship is from Wrap it Up and oh my there were so many layers! But it's a pretty cool pirate ship, so I guess it was worth it. I cut the ship at 4" with paper from DCWV. The wavy paper is from Debbie Mumm's Noah's Ark paper pad. I embossed the black paper with the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder. The twine is from The Twinery. I added crystals to the top of the post with my iRock -- every good pirate ship needs some bling! The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Splashtastic Summer set! This is one of my favorites...look at all the awesome sayings:

Sew Chic and Getting Cricky Blog Hop Winner!!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you are having a great day! The next two weeks are going to be so super-busy for me, I won't be able to get online much at all. I am trying to get some projects done in the next couple of days so I can schedule posts to go up, but I won't be able to stop by much and leave comments. I sincerely apologize and as soon as things get back to normal, I'll be around to catch up with everyone and see your amazing projects!

I have a card to enter into a challenge today. I used paper from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found - Union Square stack...just like the one I'm giving away! I absolutely love this paper! I gave the Sew Crafty mini another shot and it worked a little better this time. I stitched with black thread around the edge. The dress frame is from Forever Young, cut at 1 1/2". The buttons are from my stash. I inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink. The stamp is from K Andrew Designs Fashionable Friends stamp set! Click HERE to purchase your own set of these fashionably fabulous stamps, or to see  her entire line! I used this sketch for the design:

Link Up Love Party With K Andrew!

Happy Tuesday, bloggers! It's time again for another Link Up the Love Party with K Andrew! The Link Up the Love Party is a great way to meet new bloggers and find inspiration from amazing projects!
Link Up Love Party: How it Works
  • Link Up Party runs from Tuesday 9/20 to Tuesday 9/27. Winners announced 10/3
  • Grab the Getting Cricky blinky and post on your blog's sidebar
  • Be a follower of Getting Cricky
  • Create a new blog post that is titled Link Up Love Party with K Andrew. In your post, you must mention that the link up love party is a way to get to know each other and find new blog inspiration, mention my blog, with a link back to Getting Cricky
  • Post your favorite project that you've done in your blog for HALLOWEEN
  • Copy and paste the link up code into your blog post so the Inlinkz will show up on your blog
  • Spread the word so everyone can join in!
  • You must visit, follow, and comment on the 5 people before you AND the 5 people after you in the Inlinkz. It would be fantastic if you would visit as many as you can--maybe everyone? If you are one of the first 5 then you will need to blog the ones before you and a few more after--as long as it's a minimum of 10 near you in the link up
  • If you do not do the above your link will be deleted, because it's just not fair to those who work so hard linking up and showing love to the ones on the list. I have two moderators who will be checking this out to keep it awesome and fun!
I haven't had a chance to make many Halloween cards yet, so I am posting the one I made for the Simply Sunday Challenge. Click HERE for details :)
Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to head over to Getting Cricky and Link Up The Love!! Check out all of her amazing stamps while you are there!! :)

I cut the scarecrow at 4", the crow at 1", the sign at 1 1/2", the smaller pumpkins at 1" and the larger pumpkin and vine at 2". Butterfly Award!

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get this posted. I know you all are as tired of hearing about my computer problems as I am of typing them, but I kept a draft post and listed each time someone gave me this award. I was trying to post it from my brand new computer on Saturday night when my cursor started jumping around the document. I tried to go back and get it and it deleted the entire post! And then stinkin blogger autosaved so I lost everything! Pretty sure I shed a tear or two! So I have had to go back through my emails and try to find the names again. I sincerely apologize if I left anyone out who gave this to me. If so PLEASE let me know and I will publicly thank you and apologize!

I truly have the best blogger buddies in all of bloggerland and I am so grateful for all of you! I want to say a great big thank you to the following friends for gifting me with the Butterfly Award! Each and every one of them is truly amazing and creative and so super-talented and I hope you will visit their blogs to see what I mean! You will not be sorry!! So a huge thank you to (in the order the award was received):

Amy - Redheaded Crafter
Pam - Craftycards4u2
Susan - Cricut and Grasshopper
Sherrie - Sherrie Scraps With Passion
Amy - Amy's Crafting Space
Shelly - My Paper Love
Diana - DL.Art
Eva - Eva's Scraps N'Cards
Karen - Crafted With Love by Karen
Maribel - I Love Scrappin
Jayne - Jayne Designs
Kelly - Kelly's Crafty Life
Nita - Nita Notes
Sugarlips - Sugarlips Sassy Surprises
Brenda - Creativity is Only a State of Mind
Paula - PVCreations2010
Letillia - Diva of 5
Melanie - In Love With A Bug
Jo - JoBoogie Stamping

To receive this award, I need to: answer several questions, award this 'Butterfly Award' to 10 other bloggers, contact the 10 bloggers to let them know they have been given this award, and I also need to show a link to the person who gave me the 'Butterfly Award'.  So here goes...

Q1) Name your favorite colour?
Blue

Q2) Name your favorite song?
Oooh, so many, but right now: Say Goodbye by Katherine McPhee, Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri, Dancing by Elisa, Holding On and Letting Go by Ross Copperman and Cathedrals by Jump Little Children (sorry, I couldn't pick just one!)

Q3) Name your favorite dessert?
Strawberry Shortcake

Q4) What wizzes you off at the moment?
Rude, inconsiderate people and Microsoft. I had to get a new computer because of all the problems with Vista, so I get one and two days later, they launch another new operating system! Grr...I am sooo not happy with Microsoft right now...

Q5) Your favorite pet?
I'm a dog person but I haven't been able emotionally to get another since I had to put my baby, Dakota, to sleep after 15 years ago. I have three semi-feral cats whose momma had them here and then abandoned them: Shadow, Cali and Calypso. Calypso is the sweetest of all of them, lets me pet her, runs to me when I come home, talks constantly and so wants to be an indoor cat :)

Q6) Black or White
Black for clothing

Q7) Your biggest fear?
Illness striking my family; snakes

Q8) Best Feature?
My sense of humor

Q9) Everyday attitude?
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference

Q10) What is perfection?
The ocean

Q11) Guilty Pleasure?
DWTS, SYTYCD and red wine

Q12) When you're upset you?
Brood, write want I want to say in my head, imagine sending it and then let it go...either that or call my mom :)

Now I have to pass this award along. This is always the hardest part for me. Everyone deserves it, and I have a huge hang-up about not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings or for anyone to feel left out. But in keeping with the rules, I am passing it along to the following, starting with the amazing friends who gave it to me! Ladies, you do not need to post this again, just know that I want you to have it from me because I am so very thankful for you and so inspired by you! (In alphabetical order:)

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Wow, the week is half over already. I hope you are having a good one!

I managed a little time in my craft room today. I'm so behind on challenges. I have a card to enter into a couple today.
For this easel card, I used paper from the DCWV Music Stack. I cut the rocker chick from Rock Princess at 5 1/2". I gotta say, layers are so much easier the larger the cut! I attached her with a homemade wobble so she can rock out to the music! The background embossing folder is the Tim Holtz Sizzex music folder. The tag is from Spellbinders and I inked the edges with Tim Holtz walnut distress ink and attached it with foam tape. The sentiment is a mix and match from two different K Andrew Designs stamp sets. I used "Live" from Positive Thoughts, and taped over the rest of the sentiment. "Your" is from Winged Things, and again I taped over the rest of the sentiment. "Dreams" is also from Winged Things. Six Month Blogaversary Giveaway!!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Today is my six month blogaversary! Wow, I can't believe how fast time flies! I still remember trying to decide if I should even create a blog. I thought, who would want to follow me? I am so glad I did...I have met so many amazing people and I am so thankful for each and every one of my followers! I appreciate you so very much, and you inspire me daily! I wanted to do something special to thank you!
This is just a small token of my affection (my budget was severely limited by the new computer that I got on Friday and have spent the last two days on the phone with tech support trying to figure out why the cursor randomly jumps around the page! Grr...so frustrating! I haven't been able to craft in three days!!) But, I'm just 70 away from 700 followers, so if I hit 700, I'll dig into my savings and add even more candy! So spread the word :)

All you have to do to be eligible to win is:
  1. Be a follower, and
  2. Leave a comment on this post with a way to contact you
  3. For an additional entry, tell your friends! Post this on your blog or sidebar or Facebook and then come back and leave another comment with a link to the post
That's it! The giveaway will be open until midnight EST on October 12th. I will use random.org to pick a winner on the 13th. Oohh, October 13th just sounds spooky, doesn't it? It's not even a Friday!

Besides my blogaversary, I want to celebrate two other exciting events! One, I just redesigned my blog! It's been a long, hard process and I'm still working on all the little tweaks like section headers and a new button, but I wanted to debut the look on my blogaversary. I finally figured out how to do the top pic with clickable links, which was so stinkin' time consuming, but I will be able to add a gallery and tutorials soon.

Also, I am so excited to announce that I am going to be published in Scrapbook News and Review, the world's largest online scrapbooking magazine!! This was the first time I've ever submitted to a magazine and they picked both the cards I submitted! The call was for sympathy cards, which I have a hard time doing, but I used the new K Andrew Designs Sympathetic Sayings Stamp Set, which has such amazing sentiments...it made making the card easy! Click HERE to purchase your own set of these fabulous stamps!

Thank you so much for stopping by, GOOD LUCK, and thank you again for following me! *HUGS*

The spider web hanging off the bottom of the window is also from October 31 and the adorable spider sticker is from my sweet friend Becky! Thanks Becky!! I used a Cuttlebug die for the tag and attached it with Hobby Lobby ribbon. The sentiment is from the new K Andrew Designs FALL-O-WEEN stamp set!

It had one flourish and I used my Gypsy to add a flourish on the other side. I inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby. Attitude is Everything

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Fall doesn't officially start until the 23rd, but it arrived early here. It was 102 degrees on Saturday and 52 degrees on Monday! It's been chilly the last couple of days, the temps not even hitting 70. I had to dig out my sweatshirts!

I have to apologize for not getting around as much to leave comments recently. After a few days on life-support, my laptop died yesterday. It was an ancient two years old (note the sarcasm :) I'm pretty sure all of my problems stem from Vista. I bought my laptop when Vista was new and the next greatest thing. I even paid to upgrade to Ultimate. I have had non-stop problems ever since and now my hard drive is fried. I had problems about a year ago and the Dell rep tried really hard to get me to upgrade to Windows 7. I resisted on principle. I paid so much for the upgrade in Vista, I thought it was ridiculous to pay that much more that soon. I have a desktop computer, which I'm using now, but I use my laptop almost constantly. Because I use it for both work and play, I purchased an expensive model that I thought would last for years. So I'm pretty frustrated right now...a new computer put a serious dent in my craft supply budget...for like the next three years :(
I do have a card to enter into a couple of challenges today. For this card I used A Child's Year for the image and cut it four times to get the different colors. The background paper is from DCWV. I used a really shiny, glittery red paper for the apple. I embossed the top strip of orange with a Cuttlebug border folder. The stamp is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set.

Recipe:
  • K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts Stamp Set
  • A Child's Year - Girl image cut at 4 1/2"
  • Base Camp - A, B and C cut at 2/3"
  • DCWV Paper - background - rest from my stash
  • Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink - edges
  • Cuttlebug Border Embossing Folder
  • White Gel Pen
  • Twine From The Twinery
  • Button From My Stash
  • Foam Tape
I am entering it in the following challenges:

Jo's Birthday Blog Hop!

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to Jo's Birthday Blog Hop! I hope you will join us in wishing Jo of JoBoogie Stamping a very happy birthday! Her birthday was actually yesterday but we are celebrating today with a hop in her honor!

If you arrived here from Jacilynn at Jacilynn Dashwood, you are in the right place! If you are just visiting my blog and would like to hop along with us, click HERE to start at the beginning with Jo's blog. There will be blog candy for one lucky person who follows all of the participants and leaves a comment on everyone's blogs. Once you have finished the hop, head back to Jo's blog and enter your name in Mr. Linky for a chance to win! Several of the participants with have blog candy as well!
The theme of this hop is "cute and young" birthday! For my first project, I thought I would have a band serenade Jo with a musical version of Happy Birthday! I constructed the stage using Elegant edges for the top cornice and attached it with about three layers of foam tape to give it dimension. I used Core Couture paper for the curtains. I used Rock Princess for the band, each cut at 3". The background paper is from DCWV. Happy Birthday was cut from Birthday Cakes at 1 1/2" and I used a gel pen for definition around the letters. I am entering this in the Birthday Sundaes Challenge #25 - birthday card with birthday wording.
For my second project, I made a cute little purse for the birthday girl! I used Forever Young to cut the purse at 6 1/4". I used Flower Shoppe for the flowers on the shoes, cut at 3/4", and added a crystal in the middle. I added crystals to the heels and handle as well. I used a Tim Holtz plastic charm and adhered the sentiment with Mod Podge. To show how versatile these stamps are, I use stamps from three different K Andrew Designs stamps for the sentiment! The happy is from Splashtastic Summer, the Birthday is from Coffee and Tea for You and Me, and Sole-Sister is from Fashionable Friends! Click HERE to purchase these awesome stamp sets!

I have blog candy! I won a pair of these scissors in a blog hop a few months ago from Angie at A Tuttle Time and I just LOVE them! I don't know what I did without them! I thought they were such a great blog candy gift, I am offering a pair for my blog candy!
