And now for my project....

I created a mixed media canvas for my project today. I loved the July Tim Holtz tag so I wanted a look similar to that. Wendy Vecchi Translucent Embossing Paste was applied through a TH Bubbles Stencil for some texture. The fish are a from a punch I've had forever. They were covered with Glossy Accents.

Sea Sallie, the beautiful mermaid is a Prima Julie Nutting Doll stamp. Her hair and skin were colored with Prismacolor Pencils. A Rubber Stampede Crackle-Background stamp was used on her tail. It was then covered with Glossy Accents, as was the TH Seahorse die. The sea grasses are from the TH Spring Greenery die. The starfish and shells are from my stash. They were covered with Ranger Antiquities Verdigris Embossing Powder. Cork paper was used for the bottom of the ocean.

The sentiment is from the awesome Capture The Good Times stamp set. It was heat embossed with Veridgris and the edges were inked with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Here is the project I created...

For my project, I created a mixed media canvas. I can't remember the name of the papers I used...it was a mixed-media pack I picked up on clearance at Hobby Lobby a while ago. I used gesso and acrylic paint on the background. Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used through a Crafter's Workshop Reverse Chicken Wire stencil. I used several stamps on the background, including a Tim Holtz Cracks stamp and the flowers that are on the new CDD Blooming For You set. The chandelier is from The Paper Studio Spare Parts and it's draped with tulle. The butterfly is from Memory Box and covered with Doodlebug Designs Sugar Coating. The flowers are a mixture of Prima and The Paper Studio. Memory Box Floral Vines were cut in velum and tucked among the blooms, along with twine.

The doll is a Julie Nutting's Priscilla with Top Hat. I used a Tim Holtz script stamp on her and colored her with Prismacolor Pencils. Tulle was added for her skirt. She was outlined in charcoal.

Take Time to Smell the Flowers and the butterfly are from the the CDD Blooming for You stamp set.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art - July Linky
  2. Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
Next up on the Line Up is the amazing, sweet and talented Shelly. Be sure to hop with us tomorrow!! Winners will be picked from a different blog each day,so the more you comment the more chances you have to win.

You Are Beautiful!!

Happy Friday!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I'd love for you to stop by and say hi HERE :)

For my card today, I'm showcasing my favorite die from the June "Life as a Diva" release, Whispers Hairdo. For the background, I used watercolor paper and Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean and Squeezed Lemonade. The edges were lightly distressed with a Zutter DIA.

Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste was used through a Crafter's Workshop Cosmic Swirls stencil. Several different Tim Holtz stamps were randomly stamped with Rusty Hinge, Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. The crinkle ribbon was inked with the same Distress Inks as the background. The button in the center of the ribbon is a Die-Versions Wee Petites Button Die.

I cut the Whispers Hairdo Die twice in black cardstock. One was covered with Doodlebug Designs Sugar Coating, the other offset for a shadow effect.

The "Life as a Diva" release is perfect with the new Craftin Desert Divas Be Inspired stamp set. You are Beautiful is from Be Inspired. The arrow is a Die-Versions Wee Petites This Way die.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
  2. DL.Art - June Linky
  3. Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
  4. Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
  5. A Girl Who Crafts - Anything Goes
  6. Sisters of Craft - Anything Goes

Scrapping4fun Challenges Guest Designer

Hi everyone!! I'm so excited to be a guest designer today at Scrappin4funChallenges!! Thank you Rachelle for having me!! The theme for Challenge #17 is a fun one!! It's a technique challenge...masking, embossing, watercolor, tearing, weaving, quilling, folding, layering, collage, etc...

I chose to use several techniques for this card: stenciling with embossing paste and a stencil; embossing; inking and distressing.

The paper is from Authentique. The edges were distressed with a Zutter DIA and then inked with Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. The banners are Taylored Expressions Banner Stacklets dies. A Tim Holtz Doily stencil was placed over the top banner and Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used through the stencil. Once the paste dried, TH Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet were sponged over the design and then wiped off the embossing paste with a baby wipe.

A Spellbinders Standard Circles Small was cut with heavyweight cardstock and then embossed with a Cuttlebug Script Embossing folder. The beautiful butterfly is a Memory Box die and it was covered with Doodlebug Designs Sugar Coating. The banner is a Spellbinders Ribbon Banners die. It was inked with TH Victorian Velvet. Heartfelt Thanks is from the Craftin Desert Divas Simply Said stamp set. The gems are Prima Say It In Crystals.

The inside was decorated to resemble the front of the card. So Grateful is also from CDD's Simply Said stamp set.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Eclectic Paperie ePlay Challenge - Get Stenciled
  2. DL.Art - May Linky
  3. Just B Creative Crazy - May Linky
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you will join in Scrappin4funChallenges' Technique Challenge!! I can't wait to see what you create!!

Stenciled Day 3 - Part 2

And here is the second post from Stenciled Day 3. Please scroll down for the first post.

For this card, I started with a subtle spritz of Heidi Swapp Primrose Color Shine and then a spritz of Valentine Pink Glimmer Mist. Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste was then applied through a Crafter's Workshop Reversed Chicken Wire stencil. The leaves are a Dylusions Around the Edge stamp, stamped on vellum, cut out and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. It was attached with foam tape. The butterfly is a Spellbinders Grand Wonderful Wings die. It was sprayed with the Heidi Swapp Primrose Color Shine. When it dried, it was popped up with foam tape and pearls were added for the body. The sentiment is from My Creative Time's Many Greetings stamp set. It was heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art - January Linky
  2. Just B Creative Crazy - January Linky
  3. Little Scrap Pieces - Anything Goes
  4. 2 Creative Chicks - Anything Goes
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope to have more projects throughout the week using the stencil techniques!!

Finnabair Inspired Canvas

Happy Sunday!! I can't believe it's November already. Where did this year go?? I have a canvas to share with you today that was inspired by the amazing works of Finnabair. If you haven't seen her work, it's just stunning!! This is my first attempt of her techniques, but I will definitely be trying more in the future :)

I created this a couple of months ago and I'm sorry, but I don't remember all of the steps. So I apologize, but this won't be the most detailed description...plus, the pictures aren't the greatest (it looks purple but it's actually very pink). I adhered patterned paper to the background, along with drywall tape for texture using Multi-Medium by Claudine Hellmuth. Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was adhered through Crafter's Workshop templates: Bricks on the left, Art Is on the bottom, and Harlequin on the top right.

Several different flowers, buttons, chipboard pieces, twisted wire and lace and elements were added. Finnabair uses lots of industrial items, but I wanted to keep this a bit softer with the sweet image of my niece. The awesome chipboard butterflies are from my sweet friend Sherrie of Sherrie Scraps With Passion!! Thanks again, Sherrie, I love them!! Once everything was glued down, it was completely covered with a couple of layers of Gesso.

Once all of the Gesso dried, it was sprayed with Tattered Angels mist in Valentine Pink and Bubblegum pink (although it looks purple in the pics, it's actually very pink!!) Perfect Pearls Mist in Biscotti was then spritzed over the canvas. Once all of the mist dried, Gesso was dry-brushed over several elements to highlight them, as was pink acrylic paint.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Anything Goes
  2. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
  3. Craftin Desert Divas - Anything Goes
  4. Little Scrap Pieces - Anything Goes
  5. Just B Creative Crazy - November Linky
  6. Crafting Musketeers - Pretty Pastels
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Happy November :)

I have a tag to share with you today, following along with Tim's September 2013 Tags. I pretty much followed his tutorial (HERE) except for the alphabet on the bottom. Tim used Distress Paint and I don't have any (yet ;). Instead, I heat embossed mine with Zing Vanilla Embossing Powder.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. 12 Tags of 2013 - September Tag
  2. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Embossed
  3. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Emboss It
  4. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday - September Anything Goes
  5. Sunday Funday #13 - September Linky Party
  6. Just B Creative Crazy - Just Because September Linky Party
It's supposed to cool down to the 70's here this weekend, so it's a week early, but it will feel like a fall weekend here. I hope you have fun plans!! Thanks for stopping by :)

For my Summer Project, click HERE

In staying with my theme from the last two seasons, I created both a seasonal mixed media canvas and tag.

This is another 8x 10 canvas. The papers are from K&Company's Que Sera stack. They were applied to the canvas with Claudine Hellmuth Gel Medium. Acrylic paint in orange and red were applied next and spread with a credit card and the partially removed with a baby wipe. The tree branches are a Crafter's Workshop stencil. Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used through the stencil and then the branches were painted with Twinkling H2O's. A charcoal pencil was used to outline the branches for more dimension. The leaves are from Tim Holtz's Autumn Gatherings die. The wheelbarrow is handmade, with a Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets die.

The Julie Nutting doll was stamped on old book paper. Her outfit is from the Que Sera paper. She was popped up with foam tape and outlined in charcoal for definition.

And because I love Halloween, I had to make a Halloween-themed tag :) The tag is a Prima Mixed Media tag and it has been brushed with a black Gelato. The owl is from Tim Holtz's Mini Halloween #3 set, and the spider is from Mini Halloween #2. The moon was created with a yellow Gelato. Happy Halloween is from Mini Halloween #3, as are the trick or treating kids in the background. The flourish is from Mini Halloween #2.

My witch is definitely a good witch :) Her hat is hand made and the layers of her dress were applied with foam tape for dimension.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Craftin' Desert Diva's #13 - Anything Goes
  2. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday - August Anything Goes

Get Well Soon!!

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are enjoying this first weekend of summer!! It's been hot here and stormy. I'm not complaining...with all of the heat and rain my plants and flowers have never looked better :)

I have a quick card to share with you today that was necessitated by events that happened yesterday. My mom went out on her deck and was stung by a wasp on her upper arm. She went inside and put toothpaste on it (takes away the sting) and came back out and was promptly stung again, this time on her eyelid!! Now her eye is swollen shut and red around the entire eye. She says she's never going outside again :( So I made her a quick card to cheer her up :)

The base of the card is kraft paper cut with a Spellbinders Decorative Labels 8 die. The next layer is a Spellbinders Labels 8 die in Canvas Corp heavy duty cardstock, inked with Memento New Sprout ink. The edges were inked with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink. TH Peeled Paint was dabbed through a Crafters Workshop Chicken Wire stencil for the background.

I have been wanting to use this Wendy Vecchi Layered Flower stencil for a while now. It has two designs that fit over each other so you can get two colors - so awesome!! The first color is TH Bundled Sage. For the second, I mixed Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste with TH Metallic Gold Alcohol Ink for a deep gold color. I tried to get a picture so you could see the texture of the embossing.

The stem is Bundled Sage through a Wendy Vecchi Fresh Flowers stem stencil. The wasps are from Wendy's Busy Making Art stamp set, inked with Coffee Archival Ink. The banner is a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner, inked with Antique Linen. I'm not sure where the sentiment is from.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp and Show - Kraft
  2. DL.Art - Anything Goes Linky Party
  3. Sunday Funday #10- June Anything Goe
  4. Docerela Creations Challenge #40 - Use Kraft
Thanks so much for stopping by :)

For my project, I created another journal page :) The owl is a Spellbinders Nested Owls die, cut three and pieced together with two of the cuts. The third was used as a base with foam tape between the layers for dimension. The paper is from Prima Marketing's Doodle Deux paper stack. The branches are Spellbinders Cherry Blossoms dies. The flowers were inked with Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and adorned with crystal gems. The branches and owl were adhered with Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium.

The base is heavyweight Strathmore watercolor paper. It was painted with a coat of gesso, and then acrylic paints in sky blue, soft apple and ballet pink. Bubblegum pink acrylic paint was brushed onto bubble wrap and stamped on the canvas. TH Peacock Feathers Distress Ink was sponged through a Crafter's Workshop Harlequin stencil, Bundled Sage through a CW Tile stencil, and Spun Sugar through a Dylusions Dotted Flowers stencil. Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used through a CW Punchinella stencil. Victorian Velvet was sponged through a CW Branches stencil. The flowers along the bottom are from the Dylusions How Does Your Garden Grow stamp set and colored in with Funky Fushia, London Blue, Dirty Martini and Fresh Lime Dylusions sprays with waterbrushes. The script text stamp from the Tim Holtz Mini Ornates set was randomly stamped with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The sentiment is from Dylusions Quintessential Quotes stamp set.
