Die-Versions Blog Post ~ Celebrate

Happy Tuesday!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a couple of cards to share with you today featuring several Die-Versions dies.

I chose beautiful Maja Designs Summer Crush papers for these cards. I used a Whispers Diamonds Background die and cut it in half. A Whispers Lacey Dots die was tucked under the edge. I used the two largest sizes of the Whispers Stitched Nesting Squares dies to frame the beautiful image from the Maja papers. I chose flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts to compliment the flowers in the picture.

A Whispers Ring of Hearts die was added behind the image. For the sentiment, I used a Sweet Wordlet Celebrate die. The beautiful crinkle ribbons are from DL.ART.

To show you the versatility of Die-Versions dies, I used a Whispers Nesting Flowers die and cut it into fourths to make the leaves.

Anything But Cute August Challenge - Shabby Garden

Happy Friday!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!! I will be glued to the television watching the Olympics :) I am so excited to be the hostess for this month's challenge at Anything But Cute!! I hope you will join in!!

For the theme of this challenge, I chose Shabby Garden, using the following Mood Board:

For this challenge, we are asking you to take a stroll through a romantic shabby garden. Create any mixed media project strongly inspired by the mood board. Think flowers and plants in cracked pots, peeling paint bird feeders, distressed timeworn furniture, crumbling statues, soft pastels and feminine accessories. Don't forget to tell us how the mood board inspired your project and have fun!!

I was inspired to create a mixed media birdhouse dripping a carpet of flowers and vines.

I purchased this wood birdhouse at Hobby Lobby (with a 40% off coupon ;) I painted it with Raw Sienna acrylic paint.

Next was Andy Skinner's Mega Crackle Technique. I'm so in love with this technique!! The crackle is amazing :)

To add a bit more texture, I created stencils with an Elizabeth Crafts Design brick die, and then cut them to fit the front of the birdhouse. I covered the bricks with DecoArt Crackle Paste.

For the roof, I used DCWV's Corrugated Paper and cut the edge with a Spellbinders  edge die.

I wanted my birdhouse to have a carpet of flowers and wasn't sure how to do it. I decided to try a length of cheesecloth and then started hot-gluing flowers in a random pattern.

I used several different leaf and stem dies to add greenery to the blooms and fill in any gaps between the flowers.

I mixed Lettuce Adirondack Ink with water in a Mini Mister and spritzed the leaves, patting them dry for a soft green hue.

To add a bit of color to the birdhouse, I added drops of Spun Sugar Distress Ink with water in another Mini Mister and spritzed the bricks to highlight the cracks on the bricks.

I grabbed my Prima Moulds and used air dry clay. I wasn't sure which one I wanted to use at this point, so I made a few different ones.

Once the clay dried, I rubbed DecoArt Burnt Umber Antiquing Cream over the pieces and then wiped it off, leaving the cream in the nooks and crannies for a weathered look.

I decided on the angel above the opening, welcoming the birds home :)

My house needed a bird, so I found this wood one at Hobby Lobby (yep, another 40% off coupon ;)

I spritzed it with DecoArt Violet Shimmer Mist, covered it with Nuveo Embellishment Mousse (from Sparkle N Sprinkle) and then covered it in crackle glaze. Once it cracked and dried, I used DecoArt Antiquing Cream in Titanium White to highlight the cracks.

I had to attach a wood peg for my bird to perch on. You can also see the cracks in the bricks in this pic.

One side of the roof had flowers so the other needed something. I painted Tim Holtz Butterfly dies pink and used the Mega Crackle technique. The bottom butterfly layer was stamped with a crakle stamp.

I added pearl strands from Wild Orchid Crafts and some glittered butterflies to the flowers.

To finish the edge of the roof, I added strips of lace.

For the porch, I used more corrugated cardboard paper cut with an Impression Obsession Beach Fence. On the corners, I used Frantic Stamper Garden Birdhouse dies for the climbing vines.

I'm entering my birdhouse in the following challenges:

1) Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Fabulous Florals

Scrapy Land Challenge #47 - Anything Goes

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! The first Wednesday of the month means a new Anything Goes challenge at Scrapy Land. All we ask is that you use a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries...there are over 40 to choose from. You could win a $15 gift certificate to shop at Scrapy Land.

I have a couple of celebrate cards to share with you today that I actually created for my niece's birthday a couple of months ago. I made the purple card for her and for some reason, this is the only picture I took of it. Don't know what I was thinking :/

The papers are from Craft and You's Lavender Garden stack. Love these papers!! Texture paste was added through a Tim Holtz Speckles stencil on the background.

The doily is a Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily. The banner is a Taylored Expressions Banner Stacklets One die. Tucked among the Wild Orchid Crafts flowers are Memory Box Chloe Stems, Cheery Lynn Dandelion and Cheery Lynn Ivy Corner Flourish.

A LaLa Land Stitched Scallops die was added along the side. The fence is an Impression Obsession Beach Fence. The beautiful butterfly is from Aurelie and it was coated with Sparkle N Sprinkle Crystal Ice. Shabby White Frantage was added for a bit more texture. Spellbinders Curved Borders 2 was used on the inside.

DL.ART August Linky Challenge

Happy August!! Wow, where are the days going?? A new month means a new month-long linky party at DL.ART. As always, the monthly challenges are Anything Goes. If you use the code l01210, you'll get 10% off your purchase at DL.ART.

I was dreaming of an ocean vacation when I created these cards :) The papers are from an old K&Company Happy Trails stack. I used a Tim Holtz Bubbles stencil and Texture paste to add a bit of dimension to the background.

The next layer is a piece of corrugated cardboard from DCWV's Corrugated Neutrals stack over some cheesecloth to represent netting.

The tree is from LaLa Land. I cut the fronds twice for dimension. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. This gorgeous crinkle ribbon is Peach from the 2016 Spring Bundle.

This beautiful crinkle ribbon is Green Hue from Mermaid's Tale Third Edition. The My Creative Stitched Leaves dies and Memory Box Chloe Stems were cut in white burlap. In order for the burlap to not fray, I covered the back with clear packaging tape. The waves are a Make a Splash die from My Creative Time. The banner is a Taylored Expressions Banner Stacklet 1 die. The sentiment is from My Craft Spot (no longer in business).

The Adirondack Chair is from Die-Versions. I wanted it to have a weathered, by-the-sea look, so I cut it in grungeboard and then covered it in beige acrylic paint. Using the Andy Skinner method, after it dried, I coated it with DecoArt Weathered Wood and then DecoArt Crackle Paste. Once it had cracked and dried, I rubbed DecoArt Media Antiquing Cream in Raw Umber to highlight the cracks.

I'm linking this up with the following challenges:

1) Frilly & Funky - By the Sea
2) Little Scrap Pieces - Show if Off Saturday
3) Jo's Scrap Shack Funday Friday - Anything Goes
4) Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge -Anything Goes
