Happy Sunday!! I hope you are enjoying this first weekend of summer!! It's been hot here and stormy. I'm not complaining...with all of the heat and rain my plants and flowers have never looked better :)
I have a quick card to share with you today that was necessitated by events that happened yesterday. My mom went out on her deck and was stung by a wasp on her upper arm. She went inside and put toothpaste on it (takes away the sting) and came back out and was promptly stung again, this time on her eyelid!! Now her eye is swollen shut and red around the entire eye. She says she's never going outside again :( So I made her a quick card to cheer her up :)
The base of the card is kraft paper cut with a Spellbinders Decorative Labels 8 die. The next layer is a Spellbinders Labels 8 die in Canvas Corp heavy duty cardstock, inked with Memento New Sprout ink. The edges were inked with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink. TH Peeled Paint was dabbed through a Crafters Workshop Chicken Wire stencil for the background.
I have been wanting to use this Wendy Vecchi Layered Flower stencil for a while now. It has two designs that fit over each other so you can get two colors - so awesome!! The first color is TH Bundled Sage. For the second, I mixed Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste with TH Metallic Gold Alcohol Ink for a deep gold color. I tried to get a picture so you could see the texture of the embossing.
The stem is Bundled Sage through a Wendy Vecchi Fresh Flowers stem stencil. The wasps are from Wendy's Busy Making Art stamp set, inked with Coffee Archival Ink. The banner is a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner, inked with Antique Linen. I'm not sure where the sentiment is from.

What a lovely card, your colour scheme really puts me in mind of nature and forest walks. Your poor mom though! I hope she's doing better. Thanks for joining us for this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge!
This is wonderful and I LOVE that flower. I hope your mother feels better soon. How horrible to get stung in the eyelid. Ouch!! Have a great day.

Oh Ouch, I feel your poor Mother's pain, Lisa. I was stung a few days ago on my pinky finger on my left hand. It's all swollen and hot, and I'm sure your Mom's eye is too. I really love the layering of this flower, and can see the dimension in your photo. Have a nice Sunday, my friend! (and tell your Mom not to leave the house without the "Raid"! wasp spray)

Beautiful card as always- I'm glad your mom could see it with the good eye.
Just before our roofers came I opened the storage door to our deck and saw a wasp in its nest. I am hoping it left with the roofers. If not, I will have to get it out of there soon, it was only 3 inches when I saw it.Give your mom my best wishes for quick healing. Have a wonderful Sunday my friend.
Thank you for joining my DL.ART Thankful Thursday Anything Goes June Linky Party
