Decorate to Celebrate #79 - Outdoor Party or Birthday

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a fabulous week!! It's time for another fun challenge at Decorate to Celebrate!! For challenge #79, we are asking you to create Outdoor BBQ or Birthday Decorations!! Let's celebrate everything wonderful about neighborhood get-togethers, reunions, and grills or birthdays with your table decorations, party banners, pennants, yard signs, cupcakes, party favors and more :)

For my outdoor party project, I created a lighted arrow to guide guests to the party :) I had so much fun with this...and I will definitely be making more of these!! It's one of my favorite projects!! My Dad had a huge hand in this. I outlined the arrow on 1/4" plywood and he cut it out with his table saw. We then marked off the holes for the lights and he used his drill press to drill the holes...I did do the last hole, though :) Once he sanded it smooth, I decopaged paper from Colorbok's Under the Boardwalk stack with ModPodge, poking the papers through the holes. Once it was dry, I pushed the lights through the holes and hot glued them into place. "Party" was cut with my Cricut. Yes, I said Cricut!! I did have to dust her off and sweet talk her since it's been so long :) Plus, I had to try to remember how to use my Gypsy :) The font is from Base Camp and I cut it in LG Orange Vinyl and Black Vinyl for the shadow.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Craftin Desert Divas - Summer
  2. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Start From Scratch (made the entire project from a piece of plywood :)
  3. DL.Art - July Linky
  4. Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday

  8. Altered Eclectics - Anything Goes Mixed Media
  9. Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Altered Art
  10. All Crafts Challenge - Anything But a Card

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Decorate to Celebrate to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Outdoor BBQ or Birthday Party Decorations!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

Happy Halloween II

Happy Saturday!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!! I still haven't been able to get to my craft room very much, hence the few posts the last couple of weeks. I apologize for that. I keep hoping that I will have more time to craft but things keep popping up. There are so many projects I want to get done but just can't find the time to do them. I love creating Halloween projects but I haven't had the opportunity to do very many. This might be my last one of the year :(

The inspiration for this piece was a canvas I saw in Michaels. It featured a skull with a yellow and brown background with a black border. I tried to recreate it with my Tim Holtz stamps. The frame was created with Spellbinders Grand Labels Large dies. It was popped up with foam tape for dimension. The base is Canvas Corp heavyweight cardstock. The skull is from Tim Holtz's Apothecary stamp set. It was stamped twice with Versafine Black Onyx ink, once on the white cardstock and once on a TH Masking Sheet. The mask was cut out and applied over the other image. The background was then sponged with TH Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Gathered Twigs and Tea Dye. The spider webs are from TH's Halloween Cutout stamp set. Happy Halloween is from Apothecary. The bottom one was outlined with a Sakura White Gelly Roll pen.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Spooky
  2. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge  - Halloween or Halloween Colors
  3. Little Scrap Pieces - Anything Goes
  4. Craftin Desert Divas - Halloween
  5. DL.Art - October Anything Goes Linky
  6. Sunday Funday #14 - Anything Goes
  7. Just B Creative Crazy - October Linky
  8. 2 Creative Chicks - Halloween
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful weekend my friends :)

I have a tag to share with you today, following along with Tim's September 2013 Tags. I pretty much followed his tutorial (HERE) except for the alphabet on the bottom. Tim used Distress Paint and I don't have any (yet ;). Instead, I heat embossed mine with Zing Vanilla Embossing Powder.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea

Happy Monday!! My niece left yesterday and I'm still trying to recover!! We had a great time, but oh my, did she wear me out :)

I have a tag to share with you today, created from the awesome Beyond the Sea stamp set I won from Artistic Outpost :)

I started with Strathmore Watercolor Paper cut with a Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplate die. The girl was stamped first on the tag with Ranger Sepia Archival Ink and on Inkadinkado Stamping Masking Paper. She was cut out of the Masking Paper and then it was applied over the girl on the tag. The lighthouse was stamped next, first on the tag and then on the Masking Paper. The image was cut from the Masking paper and applied to the image on the tag. A cloud stencil was cut from paper and then starting at the top of the tag, TH Broken China Distress Ink was inked along the edge with a Tsukineko Fingertip Sponge Dauber. The girl was colored in with TH Distress Markers in Aged Mahogany, Bundled Sage, Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo and a TH Waterbrush. The lighthouse was colored in with Walnut, Antique Linen and a Waterbrush. The grass with Peeled Paint and a Waterbrush. The birds and the bottom sentiment were stamped with Black Archival Ink. TH Idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon was inked with TH Walnut Distress Stain. A TH Philosophy tag is attached to a TH Trinket Pin. The edges of the tag were inked with Walnut Distress Ink.

Happy Friday!! I hope all of my friends and followers in the USA had a safe and happy 4th of July celebration yesterday!! And I hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend :)

Friday means a Fun Friday challenge at Little Scrap Pieces. The challenge this week is Stars and Stripes.

This was a quick and easy card to make. The base was cut with a Spellbinders Card Creator Matting Basics A die in heavyweight cardstock from Canvas Corp. A Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes embossing folder was inked with Tim Holtz Fired Brick Distress Ink and then the paper was run through the Cuttlebug for a letterpress effect.

The star was created the same way. The star is a Spellbinders Star die and the Cuttlebug Star embossing folder was inked with TH Faded Jeans. It was attached with foam tape for dimension. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Sweet July stamp set, stamped in Versafine Onyx ink.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Star Spangled Happiness!!

Happy Wednesday and happy 4th of July eve to all of my friends in the USA!! I hope you have fun plans for tomorrow...cookouts, maybe a party, fireworks :)

I have a Patriotic page to share from my journal. The page was spritzed with water and then Dylusions Sprays in Cherry Pie, Postbox Red, London Blue and Calypso Teal. Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Paint was lightly flicked over the surface. A Dylusions Starry Starry Night stencil was placed on the page and sprayed with water for a ghosting effect. Some of the stars were colored in with Cherry Pie, London Blue and a white Sakura Gelly Roll Pen. They were outlined with a white the Gelly Roll Pen and then with charcoal. A Tim Holtz splatter stamp from the Spooky Stuff set was stamped in Picket Fence Distress Paint for the effect of fireworks. They were then covered with Ranger Rock Candy Distress Stickles for sparkle. The circles around the border were created with a Wendy Vecchi Dots & Stripes Border stencil, as were the stripes along the bottom. They were created with Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste.

Julie Nutting's Prima Doll Stamp - Mia - was stamped on book paper. Her top, headband and shoes were created with a Wendy Vecchi stripes stamp from the It's More Flower Art set and Dylusions spray in Calypso Teal. Her skirt was made with a Crafter's Workshop Punchinella stencil and Dylusions spray in Postbox Red. Mia was then outlined with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen and charcoal.

The sentiments are all from K Andrew Designs Sweet July stamp set. I couldn't decide which sentiment to use, so I used them all :) They were stamped on watercolor paper and spritzed with Dylusions sprays. They were then outlined with the white pen and charcoal.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp - Patriotic
  2. Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything Goes
  3. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday #112 - Patriotic

Get Well Soon!!

Happy Sunday!! I hope you are enjoying this first weekend of summer!! It's been hot here and stormy. I'm not complaining...with all of the heat and rain my plants and flowers have never looked better :)

I have a quick card to share with you today that was necessitated by events that happened yesterday. My mom went out on her deck and was stung by a wasp on her upper arm. She went inside and put toothpaste on it (takes away the sting) and came back out and was promptly stung again, this time on her eyelid!! Now her eye is swollen shut and red around the entire eye. She says she's never going outside again :( So I made her a quick card to cheer her up :)

The base of the card is kraft paper cut with a Spellbinders Decorative Labels 8 die. The next layer is a Spellbinders Labels 8 die in Canvas Corp heavy duty cardstock, inked with Memento New Sprout ink. The edges were inked with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink. TH Peeled Paint was dabbed through a Crafters Workshop Chicken Wire stencil for the background.

I have been wanting to use this Wendy Vecchi Layered Flower stencil for a while now. It has two designs that fit over each other so you can get two colors - so awesome!! The first color is TH Bundled Sage. For the second, I mixed Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste with TH Metallic Gold Alcohol Ink for a deep gold color. I tried to get a picture so you could see the texture of the embossing.

The stem is Bundled Sage through a Wendy Vecchi Fresh Flowers stem stencil. The wasps are from Wendy's Busy Making Art stamp set, inked with Coffee Archival Ink. The banner is a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner, inked with Antique Linen. I'm not sure where the sentiment is from.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp and Show - Kraft
  2. DL.Art - Anything Goes Linky Party
  3. Sunday Funday #10- June Anything Goe
  4. Docerela Creations Challenge #40 - Use Kraft
Thanks so much for stopping by :)

It can be a flower, stick pin, crinkle ribbon or some awesome skittles like I used from my sweet friend and design team sister, Carri of Doubleclick AKA Abusybee, who is sponsoring today's challenge!!

Since it's officially spring, I wanted my project to be springy, so I chose to use flowers :) The base of the card is heavyweight cardstock from Canvas Corp, followed by black cardstock from The Paper Studio. The next layer is heavyweight watercolor paper from Strathmore. It was spritzed with water, and then Dylusions Sprays in London Blue, Calypso Teal, Vibrant Turquoise and Fresh Lime. The script stamp from the Tim Holtz Mini Ornates stamp set was randomly stamped with TH Broken China Distress Ink. The flowers are from the Dylusions How Does Your Garden Grow stamp set. They were stamped with Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black. The petals were brushed with a TH waterbrush to remove the background ink, and then filled in with TH waterbrushes filled with Dylusions Inks in Pure Sunshine, London Blue, Cut Grass, Vibrant Turquoise, Fresh Lime, Crushed Grape, Squeezed Orange, Postbox Red and Funky Fushia. The stems were created with a waterbrush filled with Dylusions Black Marble. The smaller of the flower stamps was stamped in the background with TH Antique Linen Distress Ink for a subtle effect. A white Sakura Gelly Roll pen was used to outline the flowers and add some interest. The centers are the gorgeous handmade skittles from Carri :) The banner is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant die, outlined with charcoal and the white Sakura pen and popped up with foam tape for dimension. Spring Blog Hop!!

For my Decorate to Celebrate post, click HERE!!
For my 2nd Blogaversary Giveaway, click HERE!!

Hi everyone and welcome to the Spring Blog Hop!! I'm so excited spring is finally here!! Goodbye winter...I definitely won't miss ya ;)

If you've just stumbled along this hop, you can start at the beginning with our hop hostess, Jill from Every Day is an Occasion. If you are following along, you should have arrived from Arin of A Piece of Life's Pie.

For my spring project, I created an art journal page. I am having so much fun trying different techniques for art journaling!! For this page, I started with Strathmore heavyweight (140 lb) watercolor paper. Torn papers from DCWV's Be Mine stack were adhered with Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium. Gesso was then brushed randomly over parts of the paper, along with Sea Breeze and Bubblegum Pink acrylic paint, and then dried with a heat gun. White acrylic paint was brushed on a piece of bubble wrap and stamped randomly. Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap Distress Ink was sponged through a Crafter's Workshop Tile stencil. TH Peacock Feathers Distress Ink was brushed through a CW Harlequin stencil. TH Fired Brick Distress Ink was sponged through a Donna Salazar Bricks stencil. More gesso was brushed over parts of the paper to soften the colors. The flowers are from Dylusions How Does Your Garden Grow stamp set, and filled in with a Sakura Gelly Roll Pen. The edges of the paper were inked with charcoal.

Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used with a CW Flower Frenzy stencil and adorned with a pearl.

I came across an awesome blog, Such a Pretty Mess, and Gabrielle was kind enough to share her doll drawing for others to use!! I loved the design and couldn't wait to use her!! She was cut out with paper from Creative Imaginations Loolah paper stack. She was outlined with a black Sakura Gelly Roll pen. The flowers along her waist and headband were punches and adorned with small pearls. The stamp along the bottom is a Dylusions Inbetweenies stamp.

The sentiment is from Tim Holtz Classics #5 stamp set. It was stamped with black Ranger Archival Ink and then embossed with Ranger Verdigris Embossing Antiquities Powder. The edges were inked with charcoal.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp and Show - Water (watercolor paper, waterbrushes)
