Graphic 45 Le Cirque Bookmark

Happy Monday!! I hope you are having a wonderful start to your week!! I still haven't found time to get to my craft room. I have so many projects I want to work on and I'm having withdrawal from not being able to work on my art journal. Life is just getting in my way.

I wanted to share bookmark I made with the gorgeous Graphic 45 Le Cirque paper that I won from my sweet friend Diana of DL.Art - thank you again, Diana!! I love it!! My long-time followers might remember me sharing a story that when my paternal grandfather was young, he really did run away to join the circus. And for a little drama, one day a friend borrowed his jacket and then was tragically killed by an elephant. When they recovered the body, he had my grandfather's identification on him so the authorities assumed it was my grandfather and they notified my great-grandparents that he had been killed. I have the telegram my grandfather sent to them to let him know that he was alive. He only stayed with the circus for a year, but he got to travel, which he loved. I never got to meet him. He died when my dad was 10. But I inherited his love of traveling. Anyway, to make a long story short, I've always had a special fondness for the circus, so I just love this paper :)

The black paper is from The Paper Studio, the rest is from the Graphic 45 Le Cirque stack. The crinkle ribbon at the top is from my dear friend Karen of Little Scrap Pieces.

The Gentry Bros. Circus picture and Magnifique are images from the Le Cirque paper. The dimensional blue diamond gems are from my stash.

The stars are a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Celestial Art stamp. It was stamped with Tim Holtz Embossing Ink and then heat embossed with Recollections Blaze embossing powder...the sparkle is amazing. I tried to capture it but the picture still doesn't do it justice.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art Thankful Thursday- May Linky Party
  2. Sunday Funday #9 - May Linky Party
Thanks so much for stopping by today!! I hope you have a fabulous day :)

How fabulous is this? Wow...that paper is amazing. And, your story about your grandfather is wonderful - how brave and daring of him to run away and join the circus! That's a great family story to pass down from generation to generation and having the telegram makes it that much better. I love old family stories like this one, thanks for sharing with us!

Wow, what a fabulous tag! I love the paper and the sparkly stars are simply amazing! Wow, what a story about your Grandfather!! Don't you wish he was still around for you to find out all the details of his life? I have always been fascinated with genealogy-I spent a serious 7 yrs doing genealogy and loved it! Thanks for sharing your story with us! So fun to hear about it!

We finally made it home late, late last night. So, I am hoping to take the next couple days and try and get caught up with things. We had a fabulous time in NY visiting our son. I will try and shoot you and email and some pics by the wknd if I get a chance:)
Have a great day my friend!

What an amazing story, Lisa... thanks for sharing that. I can really see why you would have that fondness for the circus.
Your tag is just loaded with all the glitter and glam of a day under the big top (guess they aren't in tents anymore though, are they?) Love that stars stamp and the embossing.

My sweetest friend, your bookmark is stunning! The papers are exceptionally gorgeous, made even more lovely by the story that goes along with them. :o) The green paper is magical and I adore the embossed stars! I can only imagine the blazing sparkle in person. The corner accents are perfect and I love the bright crinkle ribbon you used. It matches so beautifully. :o) I'm glad you had some crafty time! I've gone a week (again!), but hope to have something crafty to share soon. :o) Such busy lives we lead! I hope you have a happy, sunshiny day!

Hugs and blessings!
