Getting Cricky Design Team Post - Owly Hoo

Happy Wednesday!! I hope the first part of your week was fabulous!! It's my turn to post again on Getting Cricky and today we are featuring the three fun Owl stamp sets :)

I only had a few minutes in my craft room to whip this up, so this was a super-fast tag, not a lot of layers or embellishments. The tag base is from my sweet friend, Cheri of DJ's Sundries!! I won her giveaway of an amazing box of crafting goodies...I was like a kid at Christmas opening it up :) Thanks again, Cheri!! The tag was inked with Old Paper and Tea Dye Distress Ink, then crumpled and inked with Vintage Photo. The tag was then ironed flat and stamped with my favorite Tim Holtz Tree stamp in Vintage Photo. The edges of the tag were then inked with Walnut Distress Ink. The branch is from K Andrew Designs Hooty Owl Accessories, cut out and attached with foam tape for dimension. The owl is from Hooty Owls, stamped on My Mind's Eye paper, cut out and attached with foam tape. The pennant is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant die, inked with Old Paper, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Walnut Distress Inks. The sentiment is from Olwy Hoo:

Decorate to Celebrate #30 - Anniversary, Wedding, Engagement

Happy Wednesday, everyone!! It's time for another super-fun challenge at Decorate to Celebrate!! For Challenge #30, we are asking you to create any project to be used as a party decoration (or party supply) for an ANNIVERSARY, WEDDING OR ENGAGEMENT!! Let's celebrate everything wonderful about being in love with your table decorations, party banners, pennants, yard signs, cupcakes, party favors and more!! :)

For my anniversary, wedding, engagement decorations, I made a decorative wall hanging for the happy couple!! For those of you that remember back in January, I got a deal at Michaels on ten canvases. This is project four of ten. To prep the canvas, Mod Podge was used to adhere an old music sheet, and when it dried, paint was applied in white, burnt umber and pink with a baby wipe. The Eiffel Tower was cut from Wall Decor and More in Grunge Paper, and then inked with Worn Lipstick and embossed with two coats of Ultra Thick Clear Utee Embossing Enamel, and attached with foam tape. The letters were cut from Base Camp on Grunge Paper, inked with Worn Lipstick, stamped with a music note stamp and covered with Glossy Accents.

The flowers are Spellbinders Spiral Blossom one dies, cut in Eco-friendly felt and then inked with Worn Lipstick, Tea Dye and Tattered Rose Distress Ink, with tulle in between.

The clock is a Tim Holtz die cut twice, once in black for the shadow. The hearts are from George and Basic Shapes, and welded together on the Gypsy. Foam tape was used for dimension. The paper is DCWV. "Kisses" and "I love you" are from K Andrew Designs Owly Hoo stamp set:

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Decorate to Celebrate to see the amazing projects my talented Design Team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Anniversary, Wedding or Engagment decorations!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

  2. Leave a comment at each blog on the hop
  3. Once you have finished, please return to Heather Lynn's blog and leave a comment stating you have done both

For my project today, I created an owl themed gift set...a card, necklace and gift bag.

The base of the card is a Spellbinders Label One. The next layer is a Label Thirteen, embossed with the Tim Holtz Wood Grain embossing folder. The owl on the branch is from Hoot N Holler, cut at 3". The tag is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant die, stamped with "Love Yoo" from K Andrew Designs Owly Hoo stamp set. This set is absolutely perfect for all of your owl projects, and more!!

Click HERE to purchase your own set!!

The base of the necklace is from Michaels. I stamped the owl from Owly Hoo in black onyx Versamark ink and embossed it with copper embossing powder. I added crystals to the corners and filled it in with Glossy Accents.

For the gift bag, I used Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Rectangles for the base and a Grand Rectangle as the next layer. The Owl is also from Hoot N Holler. I wanted it to look like the owl was in the tree, so the handle is covered with Spellbinders leaves.

The owl is the flap of the bag, secured with velcro.

The Grand Rectangle is also embossed with the Wood Grain embossing folder. The banner is a Spellbinders tag. "You're a hoot" is from Owly Hoo.

I have blog candy!!

Happy Bird-Day!!

Happy Tuesday and First Day of Spring everyone!! Winter is officially over...though it has pretty much been over here since December :) I love Spring and all it represents...newness, rebirth, flowers blooming, birds chirping...that was the inspiration for my card today!! Nothing says Spring like the hummingbirds returning :)

I used my Art Nouveau cart for the first time. I've had it since Black Friday so it's about time :) My Mom's birthday is in May, so I got a head start making this card for her. She loves hummingbirds and flowers :)

The green background paper is from First Edition Spring Feast Paper. The mauve background paper with khaki swirls is from K&Company. The rest of the solid papers are DCWV Textured Stack.

How beautiful is this hummingbird?? We have a charm of hummingbirds that arrive in early spring and stay throughout the summer. It grows to over two dozen and I'm making hummer food every other day for like six feeders, but they are so beautiful and worth it...they look just like this!! There are times I can't go out on the deck...there are so many, it's like a swarm of bees :()

I cut him at 2.5"...a little smaller than the recommended 3" and I had to cut him a few times to get it to cut without tearing the paper. I attached all his wing layers with foam tape for dimension.

I thought this vase was just gorgeous...I love the beautiful flower design. I embossed the base with Swiss Dots and offset some of the layers for depth. I also attached the flowers and vines with foam tape for dimension, and added crystals.

The gorgeous crinkle ribbon is from my friend Karen of Little Scrap Pieces. I added a flower from Flower Shoppe and a little butterfly charm from my stash.

The labels are Spellbinders Labels 3 and I embossed the bottom black label with the Swirls embossing folder. Happy bird-day is from K Andrew Designs Owly Hoo stamp set, one of my favorites:

Click HERE to purchase your own set or to see the entire line!!

I am entering the card in the following challenges:
  1. FCCB #103 - Celebrate Spring: include at least 3 flowers (carts used: Art Nouveau; Flower Shoppe)
  2. Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Things With Wings
  3. Birthday Sundaes Challenge #48 - Animal Birthday Card
  4. Sentimental Sundays Challenge #94 - Metal (butterfly charm)
  5. 2 Sisters Challenge Blog Challenge #83 - Spots and Dots (on the vase)
Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Tomorrow is another super-fun challenge at Decorate to Celebrate so be sure to stop back by :)
