In Everything Give Thanks

For my Christmas Spellbinders Giveaway, Click HERE

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend!! I got quite a bit of my Christmas shopping done, but I still have some to go. Don't you just love wrapping presents listening to Christmas music with all the festive lights on :)

Most of you know that my style is pretty much the opposite of CAS. I love layers and bling. But the current challenge at Crafty Friends is CAS. My sweet and incredibly talented friend Beate of Fresh and Fun guided me to a new challenge blog where I could find inspiration for CAS cards, CAS(E) this Sketch. So I used the current sketch as a guide for my card.

The layers of the card were cut with Spellbinders Matting Basics A and B. The base layer was embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. The next layer was inked with Sprout Memento Ink. The flower images are from Tim Holtz Nature's Elements stamp set. They were stamped with Fired Brick Distress Ink and then embossed with Fired Brick Embossing Powder. It was then inked with Sprout Memento ink and popped up with foam tape for dimension. The lace ribbon is from Hobby Lobby. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Crafty Friends Challenge #12 - CAS
  2. CAS(E) this Sketch #8 (see sketch below)
  3. DL.ART Thankful Thursday Challenge - Red and Green
  4. Sunday Funday #4 - Anything Goes

Encouragement Cards and Chriss's Birthday Blog Hop WINNER!!

Happy Saturday!! I hope you are having a great weekend!! The weather is perfect here...sunny and 72 :) I have a winner to announce for the Fiskars stamp set from Chriss's Birthday Blog Hop, but first, I have some cards to share with you. A very dear friend asked if I could make some cards to give to cancer patients in her area and I'm so happy that I could do this for her.

Because I was making quite a few cards in a short period of time, they aren't super-embellished. Instead, I tried to chose papers that wouldn't need much embellishment. The paper on the left is from Prima Marketing's Printery Collection. The frame is a Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Square, followed by a Classic Square Large. The quote is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. The branch is a Spellbinders Mix'd Media Elements die inked with Tea Dye distress ink, and the bird is a Bird Sanctuary die. On the right, the paper is Pink Paislee London Market. The frame is a Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight, followed by a Labels Eight. The sentiment is also from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. The flower is a Spellbinders Rose Creation die and the gem swirl is from Recollections.

The paper for both of these cards is from Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee. I can't remember where the embellishments on the left are from. The sentiment is also from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. "Faith" is a Spellbinders Girlie Grunge Label. The pennant on the right is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant die, inked with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set. The butterfly is a Spellbinders Fanciful Flight die, inked with Victorian Velvet, adorned with crystal gems and popped up with foam tape for dimension.

For these two cards, I used embossing to add detail. The folder on the left is a Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers embossing folder, and on the right a Cuttlebug African Batik folder, sponged with Tea Dye Distress Ink to bring out the pattern. The frame on the left is a Spellbinders Floral Oval die, followed by a Classic Ovals Large, embossed with Swiss Dots. The flower is a Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms die. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set. The label on the left is a Spellbinders Labels Five, followed by a Labels Eighteen in Prima Printery paper. The top label is a Spellbinders Grommet Tags Die, attached with black brads. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set.

Scripture Sayings

Happy Friday!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!! I have a quick project to share with you today. This is for a dear friend who is going through a rough time. I want her to know I'm thinking of her and praying for her.

All of the papers are from Colorbok Cloud 9. The bottom layer is a Spellbinders Grand Rectangle with the edges sanded and then stitched to the base. The next layer is the same...a Spellbinders Grand Rectangle sanded and stitched to the base.

The gem swirls are from Recollections and the ribbon is from May Arts. The flower is a Spellbinders Rose Creations die, the edges inked with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

The pink layer is a Spellbinders Labels 13 with the edges sanded to bring out the embossing. The label is a Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two die inked with Victorian Velvet. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set:

Some Thanks and a GIVEAWAY!!

Happy Friday bloggie friends!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!! How about a giveaway?? But first, I have a tag to share with you and some people to thank :)

I want to sincerely thank Tara and April of Crafty Desert Divas...I won their huge summer giveaway of a whole ton of awesome goodies!! They are so generous...there was so much in the package, I was in awe!! I can't wait to play with it all!! I used some of the gems and the pin frog they sent on today's project. Thank you again, Tara and April...I appreciate it so much :)

Isn't this the most gorgeous mermaid ever?? I went to my mailbox today and found her inside, thanks to my very dear and sweet friend Pam of Craftycards4u2!! What an unexpected, happy surprise!! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE her!! Thank you so much, Pam!! You are so thoughtful and kind, and I am so thankful for your friendship :)

For the tag, I used Weathered Wood and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink for the background. The waves were stenciled on with Broken China and the edges were inked with Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans. The mermaid was stamped with Black Soot and then embossed with holographic embossing powder.

I tried to get a picture of the incredible multi-color shimmer of the holographic powder, but it just wouldn't show up. She really sparkles in person. I used watercolor pencils to color her. "For with God, nothing is impossible" is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. Click HERE to purchase this set or to see her entire fabulous line of stamps.

Paper Playtime Delicious Die Cuts #74

Happy Monday, everyone!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend!! It's the first Monday of the month so it's time for another super-fun Delicious Die Cuts Challenge at Paper Playtime!!

Our sponsor this challenge is one of our very own Design Team Sisters, Lynn of Boots and Bling Time! The prize is a $20 VISA card! For Challenge #74 use any type of DIE CUT and/or DIE CUTTING machine and make a BUG CARD :)

I'm not a fan of bugs...in fact, I usually run screaming in the opposite direction!! But, I will admit that some bugs are cute, and I've always loved the beauty and delicacy of dragonflies :)

For this card, I used paper from K&Company Specialty Stack. For the base of the card, I used a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Square and then two Grand Squares. The next layer is a Lacy Square.

The frame was created from two Fair Isle Pendant dies, and popped up with foam tape. "Blessed are those who persevere" is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. Click HERE to purchase your own set. I used Peeled Paint Distress Ink for the sentiment and to ink all of the edges. The dragonfly is from Picturesque, and I covered him with clear micro-beads.

Here's another shot to show you the shimmer in the micro-beads. The gems are from The Paper Studio and Recollections.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Paper Playtime to see the amazing projects my fabulous Design Team Sisters have created!! Then link up your project with a bug...I can't wait to see what you create :)

Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Doorways Shelter for Women & Children (Domestic Violence), Wayside House for Women, Camp Good Days & Special Times, Adopt a Classroom, and Autism Research Institute. Kristal will donate $1 for every stamp set sold, retail or wholesale to the charity noted; and over time believes this will add up to some wonderful miracles for these special people. So you can feel good that each time you purchase a K Andrew Designs art stamp set, someone around the country is receiving some good help! K Andrew's stamps are all made and assembled here in the USA, which is very important to Kristal. This ensures all product materials are safe and that jobs are being provided and maintained here in America. Kristal's stamp sets are perfect for cards, layouts, and so much more...

For my project, I'm featuring Positive Thoughts and Scripture Sayings:

I can't really describe my crafting style...it's always changing. When I first started making cards, I used Card Maker on the computer (I cringe looking back at those cards!!) Then I moved on to do-it-yourself card kits in a box I purchased from I think Michaels. They were a step-up, but still cringe-worthy!! My current style is a mixture of shabby chic, grunge and vintage. And I still love my Gypsy :)

For my project, I made a Mother's Day card and gift box!! I had a request to do a tutorial on a box I made for an earlier project and I am going to work on putting that together, so instead of including the instructions now for this box, I will have them soon. I threw all of my favorites into this project: Spellbinders, Cricut/Gypsy, Flower Shoppe, Distress Inks, embossing, sewing, lace, tulle, ribbon, gems and Kristal's amazing stamps!!

The paper is from the DCWV Be Mine stack. I cut the flowers at 5" from Flower Shoppe and wrapped ivory tulle around them. The base of the design is a Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Label 4. It is embossed - actually, debossed...I flipped it in the folder without realizing it :/ - with the Plum Blossoms folder. I layered a Lacy Doily Motifs die, two Parisian Motifs dies, a Parisian Accents die and topped it off a Standard Circle small. I wrapped some vintage lace around the edge, and added gems from Recollections.

I inked the edges of everything (including the flowers) with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, and used it to color the circle. I wanted the center to be lighter so it would highlight the gorgeous sentiment from Scripture Sayings.

I wanted the card to match the box...but not exactly. I used a Grand Labels 4 and stitched the first layer to the base. The blue label is a Nestabilities Label 5, topped with a Parisian Accents die and a standard circle small.

I used the same vintage lace, some sheer ribbon, a flower button and natural fiber, and Recollections gems. The sentiment is from Positive Thoughts.

I am entering these in the following challenges:
  1. Little Scrap Pieces - Use Purple or Pink
  2. Craft Your Passion #106 - Die Cuts and Punches
I have BLOG CANDY!! I am giving away a set of my favorite K Andrew Designs stamps...Positive Thoughts!!

I know you will love these stamps as much as I do...they are perfect for so many different projects!!

All you have to do to be eligible to win is:
  1. 1. Be a follower
  2. 2. Leave a way to contact you
That's it!! You can earn an extra entry in the drawing by stopping by Getting Cricky on Monday, April 23...I will be kicking off an exciting new venture by our Design Team!! Once you've visited Getting Cricky, be sure to come back to my blog and leave a comment on my Monday teaser post for an extra chance to win :)

*** Remember -- As a special THANK YOU for joining us in welcoming the new team this week, you can use the promo code "letshavefun" at checkout for 20% OFF your ENTIRE stamp purchase!! Woot-woot!! Be sure to take advantage of this special before it's GONE!! :)
