Prima Doll Blog Hop - Week 2 Summer

Happy Tuesday and welcome back for the second week of the Prima Doll Blog Hop!!

We are in the second week of a four part HOP and the rules are very simple. Each Tuesday throughout the month of August we will be sharing creations made with a variety of these fabulous Julie Nutting Prima doll stamps to inspire you.

All you will need to do is hop to each of our blogs (links are below) each Tuesday in August and leave us a comment. Be sure to include your email address because on August 30th we will EACH BE GIVING AWAY A PRIZE. We will be sharing what our individual prize packages are on our blogs.

REMEMBER … you will need to comment EACH TUESDAY to qualify for the prize! AND … if you share our hop info on your blog, your name will go in twice towards the prize. WAIT THERE’S MORE! If you become a follower/subscriber you get a THIRD CHANCE!!

For my Spring project, click HERE. For Summer, I decided to follow along the same theme and create a mixed media canvas.

I started with another 8x10 canvas and adhered torn pieces of paper from  K & Company's Happy Trails paper stack with Claudine Hellmuth's Gel Medium. Acrylic paint in aqua and sea blue were scraped on the background. Liquitex Super Heavy Gesso was applied through a Crafter's Workshop Cosmic Swirls template. The banner was created with Spellbinders Nested Pennants and Nested Lacy Pennants dies. The letters are from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Alpha Parts. For the boardwalk, I basically created a box to attach to the bottom of the canvas. The paper was embossed with a TH Wood Grain embossing folder and inked with TH Gathered Twig Distress Ink. Lollypop sticks with twine hot glued to them were used for the rail. The arrow is a Spellbinders Nautical Frames and Accents die, inked with TH Salty Ocean and Gathered Twig Distress Inks. Boardwalk is from Artistic Outpost's Boardwalk stamp set.

The tag is from We R Memory Keepers Down the Boardwalk stack. The sentiment is from Paper Wings Productions Sea Melange stamp set.

Olive was stamped on an old book page (my favorite thing to use for the doll stamps). You can't tell in the pic, but her top is peach with sparkles - so pretty!! She was popped up with foam tape and then outlined with first a white charcoal pencil and then a black one.

And I couldn't help but make a summer tag, too :)

My summer tag celebrates Independence Day. The paper is from DCWV's Summer Days stack. Stars & stripes, July 4th and the flag were cut from the same paper stack.

The doll was stamped again on old book paper. Her outfit is from the DCWV Summer Day stack. Her sunglasses were cut from the paper in the We R Memory Keepers Down the Boardwalk stack. She was popped up with foam tape.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art - Thankful Thursday - August Anything Goes
  2. Sunday Funday - August Linky Party
  3. Just B Creative Crazy - Just Because Linky Party
Blog candy!!

If you remember from last week, I'm giving away one of Julie's newest doll stamps, Mia, but I said I might add something else...well, this week I'm adding a Prima Mixed Media Tag Pad!! These tags are the perfect size for all of your doll projects :)

For my project, I created another journal page :) The owl is a Spellbinders Nested Owls die, cut three and pieced together with two of the cuts. The third was used as a base with foam tape between the layers for dimension. The paper is from Prima Marketing's Doodle Deux paper stack. The branches are Spellbinders Cherry Blossoms dies. The flowers were inked with Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and adorned with crystal gems. The branches and owl were adhered with Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium.

The base is heavyweight Strathmore watercolor paper. It was painted with a coat of gesso, and then acrylic paints in sky blue, soft apple and ballet pink. Bubblegum pink acrylic paint was brushed onto bubble wrap and stamped on the canvas. TH Peacock Feathers Distress Ink was sponged through a Crafter's Workshop Harlequin stencil, Bundled Sage through a CW Tile stencil, and Spun Sugar through a Dylusions Dotted Flowers stencil. Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used through a CW Punchinella stencil. Victorian Velvet was sponged through a CW Branches stencil. The flowers along the bottom are from the Dylusions How Does Your Garden Grow stamp set and colored in with Funky Fushia, London Blue, Dirty Martini and Fresh Lime Dylusions sprays with waterbrushes. The script text stamp from the Tim Holtz Mini Ornates set was randomly stamped with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The sentiment is from Dylusions Quintessential Quotes stamp set. The sentiment and the edges of the paper were shaded with charcoal.

Spring Blog Hop!!

For my Decorate to Celebrate post, click HERE!!
For my 2nd Blogaversary Giveaway, click HERE!!

Hi everyone and welcome to the Spring Blog Hop!! I'm so excited spring is finally here!! Goodbye winter...I definitely won't miss ya ;)

If you've just stumbled along this hop, you can start at the beginning with our hop hostess, Jill from Every Day is an Occasion. If you are following along, you should have arrived from Arin of A Piece of Life's Pie.

For my spring project, I created an art journal page. I am having so much fun trying different techniques for art journaling!! For this page, I started with Strathmore heavyweight (140 lb) watercolor paper. Torn papers from DCWV's Be Mine stack were adhered with Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium. Gesso was then brushed randomly over parts of the paper, along with Sea Breeze and Bubblegum Pink acrylic paint, and then dried with a heat gun. White acrylic paint was brushed on a piece of bubble wrap and stamped randomly. Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap Distress Ink was sponged through a Crafter's Workshop Tile stencil. TH Peacock Feathers Distress Ink was brushed through a CW Harlequin stencil. TH Fired Brick Distress Ink was sponged through a Donna Salazar Bricks stencil. More gesso was brushed over parts of the paper to soften the colors. The flowers are from Dylusions How Does Your Garden Grow stamp set, and filled in with a Sakura Gelly Roll Pen. The edges of the paper were inked with charcoal.

Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste was used with a CW Flower Frenzy stencil and adorned with a pearl.

I came across an awesome blog, Such a Pretty Mess, and Gabrielle was kind enough to share her doll drawing for others to use!! I loved the design and couldn't wait to use her!! She was cut out with paper from Creative Imaginations Loolah paper stack. She was outlined with a black Sakura Gelly Roll pen. The flowers along her waist and headband were punches and adorned with small pearls. The stamp along the bottom is a Dylusions Inbetweenies stamp.

The sentiment is from Tim Holtz Classics #5 stamp set. It was stamped with black Ranger Archival Ink and then embossed with Ranger Verdigris Embossing Antiquities Powder. The edges were inked with charcoal.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. Simon Says Stamp and Show - Water (watercolor paper, waterbrushes)
  2. DL.Art - March Linky Party
  3. Sunday Funday #7 - March Linky Party
I have Blog Candy!!
