My Craft Spot Challenge #159 - Thanksgiving/Fall

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend :) Are you getting ready for Black Friday shopping?? I know I am :) It's time for another fun challenge at My Craft Spot. The theme this week is Thanksgiving/Fall. Play along for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to shop at MCS.

So today, I'm sharing my very first project using my new Cricut Explore!! Woohoo!! It was so much easier to use than I feared and it cut perfectly. I was happy to discover that I retained quite a bit from using my Gypsy, so I could pick up what I needed in Design Space. I still have so much to learn, but for my first project, I'm happy :) I've rediscovered my love for Cricut :) My first project was to cut the Curvy Box file from My Craft Spot. You can find the file HERE, and it's currently on sale!!

The papers for this box are from Basic Grey. The label is a MCS Ornate Labels die. The sentiment is from the Fall Leaves stamp set. It was heat embossed in snow white embossing powder. MCS Vanilla Bean Crinkle Ribbon was used and MCS Ivory Twine was threaded through the button.

The papers for this box are from K&Company. Another MCS Ornate Labels was used for the sentiment from the Fall Leaves stamp set. MCS Vanilla Bean Crinkle Ribbon was used and MCS Ivory Twine was threaded through the button for this one, too.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #3 - Anything Goes

Happy Wednesday!! The first day of October!! Ugh!! Where did this year go?? It's time for the 3rd Scrapy Land Blog Challenge!! The theme this week is everyone's favorite - Anything Goes, using dies that Scrapy Land carries (there are over 40 brands)!! You could win a gift certificate to shop in the store :)

Since time if flying by and Halloween will be here before we know it, I have a Halloween card to share with you today. For this shadowbox card, I used old papers from K&Company. I just love these papers and I've hoarded it for a couple of years...I am down to scraps now :) The layers and frame were cut with Spellbinders A-2 Card Creator Matting Basics A and A-2 Card Creator Matting Basics B.

The spooky scene is an Impression Obsession Halloween Hill die. It was cut twice, with the top layer attached with foam tape for dimension. The spider and web are Impression Obsession Spider Web die. The spider was cut in sparkly black paper and attached with foam tape. Terror-ific is from Craftin Desert Divas Ghostly Greetings stamp set. It was heat embossed with Stampendous Cinnamon Embossing Powder.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to the Scrapy Land Blog to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your Anything Goes project using dies that Scrapy Land carries!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

Something Special Just For You

Happy Saturday!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!! I've finally decided to embrace fall - I do love fall, I just wasn't ready for summer to end. And I'm so not ready for winter and snow. So, in the spirit of the season, I purchased some pumpkins to decorate around the house and I hope to add more festive touches this weekend :)

I came across a card I did a few years ago - it's called a Box Card - and I loved the look so I wanted to make another one :) My sweet friend Beate put this tutorial together. Unfortunately, she doesn't blog anymore, which is a shame because her projects were amazing. You can find the directions HERE. It looks complicated but it's incredibly easy to create. The double-sided papers are from K&Company. The scalloped die along the sides is a Die-Versions Lacey Dots die.

For the belly band, I used a Memory Box Orbit Circle die. My Craft Spot Tiny Doily Dies were used for the center of the circle. The sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Stamping All Around Spring stamp set. I stamped it on vellum and adhered it to the paper.

Once you remove the belly band, the card expands into a box. How cool is that??!! You can add a gift card inside to make a sweet gift for someone special :)

I am entering this in the following challenges:

1. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
2. DL.Art - September Linky

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a wonderful weekend :)

Happy Monday and last day of March!! Another month bites the dust!! It's time for a new Craft It Up & Link It Up Challenge at Craftin Desert Divas. The theme for this challenge is an easy one and everyone's favorite...Anything Goes :) Our sponsors this week are: Fresh Squeezed Stamps - Mother Knows Best stamp set; Lovebug Creations - $10 gift card; Fleurette Bloom - $10 gift card.

I've been anxious to use the new Julie Nutting Sea Sallie Mermaid stamp so I inked her up for this challenge :) The tag is a Prima Doll Tag and it was covered with paper from K&Company's Happy Trails stack. Sea Sallie was stamped on old book paper and then she was lightly colored with a Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Marker and a TH Waterbrush. Her hair was colored with Distress Inks in Salty Ocean and Mowed Grass and blended with a waterbrush. The waves on the bottom are a Taylored Expressions Ride The Waves Border die. Sea Sallie is on an Action Wobble that my sweet friend Dee of Dee B's sent me.

I just love the Memory Box Hibiscus die!! You can't tell in the picture but the flowers, Sallie's hair and outfit were all brushed with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker. They really sparkle!! Sun Kissed is from Tara's new Summer Lovin' stamp set:

Decorate to Celebrate #62 - Ghostly Goodies

Happy Wednesday!! It's time for another fun challenge at Decorate to Celebrate!! Let's celebrate everything wonderful about goblins, bats, scary cats and more with your table decorations, party banners, pennants, yard signs, cupcakes, party favors and more :)

For my Halloween party table I created candle holders. For the one on the left, I used the Tim Holtz Graveyard die and double-sided paper from K & Company. Happy Halloween is from TH's Mini Halloween 1 set. For the one on the left, I used Tim's Apothecary Bottles die...love this die set!! The bottles were cut first in cardboard and then cardstock. The cardstock was inked with Tim Holtz Walnut Distress Ink on the edges and then covered with Mod Podge for shine. Once it was dry, I sprayed Goosebumps Texture Spray for some more texture. The stamp is from TH's Mini Halloween stamp set.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

So, I just returned from vacation where we spent two weeks driving out west, hoping to see wildlife. I come home, and this is what I see from my living room windows!!

Not one, not two, but three bucks...very unusual to see one, let alone three together!! They are still young but beautiful!!

Aren't they gorgeous??!! Then I saw this outside my back window...

There were about eight of them, but I scared the rest off before I could snap a pic :)

The paper for Boo is from Me and My Big Ideas Mambi stack.

Such a tiny spider to have woven such a huge web, huh??!! The spider is from the October 31 cart with red gems added for his eyes. The spider web I picked up in a flea market. It was a big bag and a little goes a long way so you will be seeing more of it on my upcoming projects :)

Paper Playtime Delicious Die Cuts #74

Happy Monday, everyone!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend!! It's the first Monday of the month so it's time for another super-fun Delicious Die Cuts Challenge at Paper Playtime!!

Our sponsor this challenge is one of our very own Design Team Sisters, Lynn of Boots and Bling Time! The prize is a $20 VISA card! For Challenge #74 use any type of DIE CUT and/or DIE CUTTING machine and make a BUG CARD :)

I'm not a fan of bugs...in fact, I usually run screaming in the opposite direction!! But, I will admit that some bugs are cute, and I've always loved the beauty and delicacy of dragonflies :)

For this card, I used paper from K&Company Specialty Stack. For the base of the card, I used a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Square and then two Grand Squares. The next layer is a Lacy Square.

The frame was created from two Fair Isle Pendant dies, and popped up with foam tape. "Blessed are those who persevere" is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. Click HERE to purchase your own set. I used Peeled Paint Distress Ink for the sentiment and to ink all of the edges. The dragonfly is from Picturesque, and I covered him with clear micro-beads.

Here's another shot to show you the shimmer in the micro-beads. The gems are from The Paper Studio and Recollections.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to Paper Playtime to see the amazing projects my fabulous Design Team Sisters have created!! Then link up your project with a bug...I can't wait to see what you create :)

You are sun-sational!!

Happy Saturday, everyone!! I was hoping to get out today and enjoy the outdoors but thunderstorms are rolling through the area...and it seems they have settled in for the day. Looks like I'll have to head down to my craft room instead ;) I have been having so much fun using Spellbinders for projects, my poor Cricut was getting lonely :( So I decided to use him for this project.

I made this thank you for my parents for the family vacation last week...they paid for everything for all of us :)

The paper is from K & Company Happy Trails stack...love it!! I cut the lighthouse from the same stack, inked the edges with Shabby Shutters Distress ink, and popped it up with foam tape for dimension. The lounging couple are from the Fun in the Sun cartridge, and while that totally could be my Mom wearing a hat and reading a book, I don't think my Dad will truly appreciate the bald man with a little padding around the middle ;) But they are so cute and I love the fun summery images on this cart :) I wanted the sand to stand out a bit, so it's embossed with Swiss Dots and inked with Walnut Distress Ink. The lounging couple are popped up with foam tape as well. I added a green crystal to the top of the lighthouse.

So I obviously couldn't go without using a Spellbinders!! I used a Nestabilities Label 10, and inked the edges with Shabby Shutters. The twine is from The Twinery, and the button from my stash. "Thanks" is from K Andrew Designs Winter Wishes stamp set, and "you are sun-sational" is from Splashtastic Summer:

Click HERE to purchase your own stamps, and right now, Kristal is having a huge sale on her stamps -- 20% off store wide!! Use the code "letshavefun" for the discount, and let her know I sent you!!
